Blackfoot Radio - A Fallout western radio mod
Project Overview
Blackfoot Radio – A Fallout 4 Radio Mod
Blackfoot Radio is a lore-friendly radio station mod for Fallout 4, broadcasting from the windswept wastes of post-war Wyoming. Hosted by John H. Belden, a weary but warm-hearted ghoul and former pre-War photographer, the station mixes dusty old folk tunes and frontier ballads with campfire-style storytelling, weather reports, and slice-of-life commentary. Belden is accompanied by his glowing black-footed ferret, Lantern, a non-verbal companion whose chirps and squeaks add a charming dynamic to the broadcasts. Together, they keep the signal alive, offering a rare kind of peace to any wanderer tuning in.
The station features:
A selection of 61 songs, focused on Western, folk, swing, and early country themes.
Storytime segments from Belden’s past—ranch life, photography trips, and brushes with the old world.
(If Able) Original voice acting and in-universe songwriting, including simple acoustic tracks sung by Belden himself
Requirement:
mostly listed in the roles
some way to communicate (preferably Discord)
some way to arrange payment (preferably Paypal or Venmo)
high quality audio
a way to send audio files

Description:
Belden is the ghoul host of Blackfoot Radio, broadcasting from post-war Wyoming. Before the bombs, he was a photographer and rancher who worked freelance for old companies like Nuka-Cola, Grey Tourtoise, and Sunset Sarsaparilla. Now, he lives a quiet, reflective life with his glowing pet ferret Lantern, sharing old songs, stories of the high plains, and local weather reports with a friendly touch. His voice blends weathered wisdom with understated humor and lingering nostalgia. He’s not a radio showman; he’s the kind of man who’d talk to you on a front porch over coffee.
Requirements:
- Main host of the radio
- Around 300 lines as of now, mostly intros and outros for songs, ad reads for weather and local caravans, and Belden's own stories
- Belden's voice is weathered and dusty, but still warm, like a grandpa
- High quality audio, akin to other characters in the Fallout games
- (Optional) Must sound like a ghoul (raspy, dry), but still clear and expressive.
- (Optional) Familiarity with the Fallout franchise is recommended but not needed
(Optional) Occasionally sings in a plain, folksy voice - musicality is a plus, but not required.

This is Blackfoot Radio, bringin' you old tunes, older stories, and the occasional squeak from my partner, Lantern.
Just one photo. A boy sittin’ on a fencepost. Barefoot, jeans rolled, hair like straw. He’s got a stick across his lap like it’s a rifle, but he’s smilin’ so wide it splits the frame. And he’s lookin’ straight at the lens, like he knows what’s comin’ but don’t mind.
(In singing voice) [If you can't or won't sing, as if telling a story] I saddled up north where the thunder don’t cry,; The rails had all rusted, the water was dry.; The sky didn’t speak, just stared with one eye,; And I rode where the tracks run dry;
Description:
Lantern is Belden’s glowing black-footed ferret and loyal companion. Though she doesn’t speak, her presence is felt throughout the show in little responses and interactions. She communicates through happy squeaks, annoyed chitters, or affectionate hums, and she’s deeply expressive despite being non-verbal. Her responses are woven into segments like Lantern’s Corner (her music picks) or when she reacts to Belden’s stories and weather reports.
Performance Notes:
- Optional role (not required for the mod)
- Looking for a voice actor that can mimic the sounds of a ferret, or a sound designer that can edit similar sounds
- Must be able to produce (vocally or produce) a range of expressive, cute, and believable small animal vocalizations.
- Around 30 'lines' as of now, not really a set amount
- High quality audio, akin to other characters in the Fallout games
- (Optional) Familiarity with the Fallout franchise is recommended but not needed
