Armageddon: Black Dawn [Audiodrama] Chapter 15 + Sound Engineer

Project Overview

Payment is PER CHAPTER/EPISODE.

Armageddon is a novel published by Writer/Illustrator/Game Designer Terry Tibke, first released in 2009. Episodes/Chapters 1-4 are available on YouTube now as a visual audiodrama. However, after a failed Kickstarter to fund the visual elements for future chapters, the podcast has continued with bi-weekly episodic releases (Chapter 13 has been completed by the closing of this casting).

Follow any of the links here, from Audible to YouTube, to check out what we've done for the first 11 chapters!

I tend to open auditions in smaller waves--tracking with batches of a few chapters at a time, as characters are introduced throughout the book but aren't needed for the whole project. This in fact, the fourth wave of auditions for a few supporting cast. Also, as work has gone on, my time directing and managing everything along with other projects in my life, have driven me to at least look for a sound editor to work on the project in my stead.

Role assigned to: David Alexander

I began this project with the minimal schooling I had for audio editing that I picked up in animation school. Over the last 7 months I've picked up quite a bit. But now I'm looking to hand that off to someone who can do AT LEAST as good of job as I have, but preferably better. I want to take the quality up to the next level. (Listen to some of the more recent chapters in the links above for examples) This role will include adding voice tracks from the characters to the main narration track, adding and mixing music from the available themes and library, adding sound effects, and checking volume levels against headphone, pc, phone, and car audio (I can still help with this).

Listed as Irish, but I'll take Scottish as well. Rail leads a band of rangers--somewhat Robin Hood'ish, with a strong confidence. His voice is described as gritty and gravely. He's confrontational, and he's also very protective of his island and his rangers. He doesn't want them involved in any fight they don't need to be a part of. Only record the "quoted" lines above.

  • Then a gritty unknown voice called out from the trees. “Who comes to this place in the company of dragons and armored as a knight of some foreign land?”

  • “Perhaps we can help each other. We only wanted to protect the clues that are still here. I’m Rail Markrune, leader of this—rabble—as you call them, called the Rangers of Ys by others.”

  • “We captured several Dark Knights fleeing through our woods a short way to the north of this place,” Rail went on.

Gundak is essentially a butler/steward for Aldor Steelaxe, a wealthy dwarven miner. Gundak is noble and loyal. He has a handful of lines. Scottish is listed, but various Northwestern European accents may work.

  • Then Gundak popped into the room, cutting Turim’s argument short. “Yes, Master Steelaxe?” he said.

  • “Your requests have been filled, Master Aldor,” said Gundak when he saw them approaching. Several armed dwarven servants surrounded him.

  • “We’ll clear the mine of them before your return,” said Gundak. “You need not fear that. Yet I curse that foul breed of spider.”
