Project Overview

Way Wild is a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate machinima mini-series following a cast of original characters.

In a setting best described as wild west meets steampunk, civilians have rebuilt their towns and lives after a radioactive nuclear explosion wiped out over 99% of the world's population. Those lucky to be alive have been mutated by the radiation, transforming their bodies and giving them strange powers. Some survivors choose to use these powers to maintain peace, while others abuse them for their own selfish motives.

The story follows Sheriff Hunter and his partner, Duck. While they look like an ordinary dog and duck respectively, they're tough as nails enforcers who fight against all odds. After witnessing the assassination of their friend, this duo seeks out the one responsible for hiring the killer. Meanwhile, a new crime boss sets out to eliminate Hunter and Duck, and take over their home town. Along the way, our heroes also find themselves running into some dangerous and quirky obstacles.

  • Deadline Extention (3-30)

    The deadline to audition has been extended for another 4 weeks. Due to the high amount of roles, I'd like to see what even more voice actors have to offer on their takes of certain characters. This also will help me better finalize the cast so no voice actors are stuck with too many roles. The new deadline is set at March 30. Be sure to get you're auditions in if you haven't had the chance to do so last month. As a side note, I'd like to say how impressed I am with the auditions this project has already accumulated! I'd like to thank everyone for giving their time to send in such great auditions!

Due to the wild west setting, a lot of characters will speak in Southern/Texan metaphors and phrases. While I could just make up phrases and metaphors that sound similar to what someone from the Southern United States would say, I'd rather get the help from someone actually familiar with that kind of speech.

This role includes reading through the whole script of the mini series and noting where and what expressions could be added, as well as what expressions could be changed to be more fitting.

To audition, please submit any writing you wrote or revised that includes characters using these expressions or a compilation of lines from a character/characters written in this style.

Sheriff Hunter (Hunt for short) is the top dog in his home town. Hunt, alongside his partner, Duck, use their powers to protect their town from those seeking to take over the town and harm it's residents. Hunt is a badass enforcer who doesn't take anyone's BS. Despite that, Hunt is still quite the smooth talker who's built a good relationship with just about everyone in town. Much of his past is kept unknown, making him more mysterious among those who know him and those who have only heard of him.

For Hunt's voice, I'm looking for someone who can emulate a similar voice and style to that of Troy Baker's Erron Black as heard in Mortal Kombat 11.

  • (Monologuing) "Ma always said not to pick up the shovel if you ain't gonna tend to the manure--Her way of tellin' not to make promises I can't keep. But if there's one thing I damn well can guarantee, it's that things are about to get wild. Way, way wild."

  • (Ordering at a tavern) "Say, while them cooks back there are gettin' that chicken in the fryer, how's about you start us out with some drinks? A shot of whiskey for me and a... soda for Duck."

Duck is Sheriff Hunter's long time partner and best friend. Duck's not as cool or smooth as Hunt, but he makes up by being more patient and tactical. Duck is always there to look out for others and find the best way to accomplish his goals. Together, Duck and Hunt make for an inseparable team unmatched by anyone else out there.

For Duck's voice, I'm looking for something that sounds like Caroll Spinney's Big Bird if he had a Texan accent and was a bit of a snarky jackass.

Keebo is Duck and Hunt's biggest fan and biggest pet peeve. Keebo constantly follows Duck and Hunt wanting to goof around with them, but is oblivious to how annoying he is. Keebo even uses his powers to have more "fun" making him harder for Duck and Hunt to get rid of."

I'm not looking for anything in particular for Keebo's voice, just as long as it's not an over the top fanboy esque voice.

Bolo is the leader of a group of thugs, thieves, and killers known as the Scorchers. Bolo used to be a poor thief before the nuclear explosion, but now leads the Scorchers to take over towns to add to his total turf. Bolo can talk quite smooth and act with cockiness and confidence, but can quickly become vicious and aggressive. His power hungry motives and attitude make him feel he's above everyone else, including the other Scorchers.

For Bolo's voice, I'm looking for someone who can emulate a similar voice and style to that of Jay Ward's Wolf O'Donnell as heard in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.

  • (After being warned about Duck & Hunt) "Are you a Scorcher or a pussy? Since when should some sheriff become a fear of ours? He's just another man, and I've killed dozens of men."

    "Even the dullest of claws can tear out a grizzly's ribs. In your case, well... you best hope you got more meat to dig through. Otherwise, we Scorchers feast on barbeque tonight."

  • "Now ain't this a quaint lil' town. Bright faces, well kept buildings. Y' know, this place takes me back to my youth--back to my old hometown. ...I hated my hometown."

    "You ain't never spent a hot day with stingin' sun and thirst so powerful you sipped puddles dry. Neither, a cold night with an empty stomach and no blanket to curl up in. If you endured even a fraction of what I have, you'd understand the Scorchers better--Maybe even join us."

Zinnia is the bar tender at the town's local tavern. She usually doesn't have time for much else other than work, but enjoys the company of regular patrons, like Duck and Hunt. She acts sweet and sassy, but also shows no fear when looking danger in the eye.

For Zinnia's voice, I'm looking for something similar to Britt Baron's Tifa Lockhart as hear in Final Fantasy VII Remake. This can be either in her North American accent as heard in FFVII, or you can try adding a Texan accent to that voice.

John is the mayor of Bold Rock (the same town as Duck and Hunt). John tries to make sure all of his citizens are safe and all of their concerns get resolved. John has a heavy reliance on Duck and Hunt to keep the town safe, but also has a disliking towards their ways of "getting the job done."

For John's voice, I'm looking for a voice that sounds like a typical politician in their 60's with a Texan accent.

Crocbane is a former friend of Duck and Hunt turned Scorcher. Crocbane used to be an honorable fighter like Duck and Hunt, but found himself fighting for Bolo after a personal crisis where he believed he had no choice but to join the Scorchers. Crocbane ended up betraying Duck and Hunt and nearly got them killed, resulting in Crocbane feeling more fearful and guilty around the duo.

For Crocbane's voice, I'm looking for a Hulk Hogan style deep, wrestler esque voice with a Texan accent.

Sturm is Mayor John's messenger, delivering requests from the town folk and information urgent to the town's protection. Sturm often gets certain information by going places he shouldn't be and overhearing what he shouldn't hear. Sturm is also quite tactical, helping John with plans for the town in the event of emergencies.

For Sturm's voice, I'm looking for a voice similar to that of David Zen Mansley's Agent Bishop as heard in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2003. This can be either with his North American accent as heard in TMNT, or you can try adding a Texan accent to that voice.

Trax is an assassin who's responsible for the murder of Shank's brother, Slash. Trax began questioning his assassin ways after mistaking Slash for his real target. Though not fully reformed, he seeks redemption but is given none due to being labeled as untrustworthy by Shank, Duck, and Hunt.

Carl Leese was a soldier before the nuclear explosion occurred. Leese's mission was to stop the terrorist group behind the nuke from detonating it, but was killed before he could stop them. Leese appears in flashbacks seen by Hunt, as he and Leese share an untold history.

There will be two types of extras, Towns Folk and Outlaws. The town folk are meant to sound like everyday people you'd see in a wild west setting, while the outlaws are some extra criminals and hunters meant to sound like deadly and somewhat aggressive cowboys.

This role will pick around 3-6 people who audition rather than this being a role only for one person. Those who are casted will be listed on this casting call after casting has completed and messaged to confirm they have been chosen.
