The Odd case of Malyk Gershom
Project Overview
The story centers around a late teen named Malyk Gershom, philosophical introverted kid who finds is position in life to be an observer as he watches and studies the world’s unforgivable action and behaviors of it natural ability of inflicting harm, which leads him with a weary spirit that just wants the world and its people to be kind and gentle . From his dissatisfaction with the world and its selfish values, he often dwells into his imagination to spend his time into a world where he’s able to live in the world he always imagined and could be, Sunset Summers, a world filled with dreamlike architecture, colorful environments, and an overwhelming feeling a peace and safety. Everything seems great in this fake reality, but there's only one glaring oddity with it. That being the people in Sunset Summer only having one resident that constantly accompanies Malyk named Myra, a person who tries to manipulate Malyk into staying in dreams and encourages him to fully commit to living in the world of Sunset Summers so they can be together and live their lives where everything is perfect to which makes Malyk hesitant of doing because even though he sees the flaws of humanity and finds no meaningful connection with anyone, he clings on the idea that there could be a chance of redemption in humanity to choose kindness and not hatred. Over the course of the film, Myra behaves more odd towards Malyk and becomes obsessive with him to the point of when he shares he talked to a girl that he felt there being a potential connection with, she immediately lashes out on him as she casts him into a nightmare to where he’s forced to relive all of his horrific memories for a seemingly endless amount of time. After the nightmare, Myra keeps him hostage in his own dreams as he tries to justify her decision of damaging his brain to where he’s now stuck in a coma that forces him to stay in Sunset Summers and forces Maylk into marriage and live in a quiet house. Myra becomes insane and a control freak by ordering him not to leave the house under any circumstances and further manipulates him that his fate is sealed to be her lover and tells him to lose hope in getting back into the real world. After several days begging her to understand that she’s acting out in the same spirit of society’s current position and telling her that he never wanted this to how wanting humanity to improve to be anything like this, he discovers a tunnel outside the a play area with endless tunnels that lead into anywhere at random and plans on making an escape when she wasn’t home. After Mrya departs to get some more groceries, Malyk cautiously opens the window and makes a run towards the play area along with the terrifying realization of seeing Myra chasing after him asking where he’s so desperate in wanting to live in a world you find so much misery in. During their attempts of trying to overwhelm and persuade the other, he makes a break into finding the right tunnel that leads him back into the real world where he wakes up in the hospital and is relieved at putting the right tunnel. Or did he?

Maleyek is a teen with a soft heart that dreams of a world that's more empathetic, less cruel that truly cares for its people. He's known as being more of introverted, gentle, big-hearted, creative, philosophical outcast in a world that values selfish, hatred, and aggression in getting what you want. Through his experience in public school, the park, pretty much everywhere he goes, he believes people to be cruel at nature and wonders why that must be as he talks to himself in his room where no one can hear him or hurt him. His demeanor and mannerism shows a submissive and fragile since he's always looking into the mind of those who practice negativity for the sake of just doing it. The only way for him to have the strength to be someone that can't be messed with so easily that helps stand his ground is through playing dress up as he wears a stetted up costume, dark cape, and a skull mask to prevent people from seeing him cry when he get over stimulated. He often drifts into a world that's serves as his ideal landscape of what he imagines the world if we'd just try to work to find common ground and peace that leads him to meet a figment of his imagination and soon regret, Myra.
His voice sounds very child-like with a speech pattern of a genius as they're evaluating the room, but he's unable to understand the emotions or reasons of someone in being the way they are as he tries his hardest in the most naive way possible. He's someone that won't give up on questioning those to achieve understanding but fails to question himself.

I feel. I- I feel so much of these emotions that feel so overwhelming from the misplaced emotions I've become a victim a of that leaves me unable to understand on why they are the way they are.. *breath through the nose* I want to help them, but- but I don't know if that's of their best interest in tis moment. Oh, this isn't my actual identify, Mrya. It's uhh- it -it makes it easier for me to go about my daily routine of going to school and coming back home with feeling... Wounded.. Not actual wounds, but more of- uh. Wounds in the mind, if you'd say. Wounds that stick with you, as you try to unravel on what purpose they're suppose to serve.. I don't know what I wrong to deserve those wounds. I mind my business, I stay out of people's way... I just observe. I just want find a way to help people, but it feels like the world is telling something..Soul crushing
Oh, Myra! Its nice to see you, again. How's you day been so fa- ohh. You want to know if I made my decision yet *Nervous laughs* Uhmm, well.. Mrya I- I really do like you. I really do. But thing you have to understand is that.. You- you don't really exist.. This all just a dream. I'm Sorry.. I- I- really didn't mean to hurt your feelings, Mrya! We can still enjoy each other's company every night, I promise! Ahh, I'm really sorry.. I'm so so sorry for making you cry..

Mrya is a fond imagination of Maylek that's wanting to become the thing that brings Maylek happiness not matter how see has to toture are destroy to obtain her dream of being with him as they spend their lives in a world that doesn't really exist. To get a better idea of who she is, we need to look at why she's wanting to be with Maylek. Sunset Summer sounds nice on the surface and it does, but the only thing that makes the place feel off is that there being no other people in the world except her and Maylek which has made her focus all of her time in pursuing him and getting to understand why she isn't able to always be with him makes her go even crazier than before from the enforced isolation in a world filled with beauty with no one to enjoy it with. She begins to understand her lover's struggle in the real world and tries to offer him the solution in committing fully to the world of Sunset Summer so they wouldn't be alone ever again, but when she's turned down for the last time. She comes to the decision of that there being some things that people aren't going to understand that you're doing for them until its done, which makes her become even more obsessive as she makes her triumph attempt in winning his heart no matter what he think as she believes that they're both wanting the same thing--to be loved by someone in a world that has treated you poorly.
Her mannerisms could be seen as being flirtatious, soft spoken, overly friendly controlling, and odd in a way that can't be put into words that would be best described as being someone that's behaves like a theater student that won't break character that's captivated by the story no one else is able to see or hear. Over the course of the story, she shows cracks of her mental being taken away from her as becomes more aggressive and likely to lash out when Malyek disagrees with her at any moment.

*She enters the scene with immense anger that she's struggling to suppress as she finds Maylek* Where the fuck do you think you're going, Maylek!? You think you can just get up and leave whenever you want and leave here crying my fucking eyes out for you!? We had a date! I invited you to a date and you just bale!? Why would yo- I don't care if you didn't mean to leave! You left me there at the dinner table eating by myself with the music playing! *tries to get herself to stop crying as she regains her composure* Look, Maylek. I want this to work between us and I understand why you don't think I'm real, but we have something don't we? I feel it.. You feel it. Why can't you just stay here? Live with me. Forget about your old live and stay here with me, huh? I'd forgive you if you promise me that, you big goof. *giggles* What? N- no? What d you mean no? You love me, you don't you!?
You see the moon, sweetie? lights up the whole forest everytime it shines. I just wish we could enjoy this every night. It can happen too, you know?...Maylek...Look at me. We can be happy together...Forever.. Until the end of time.

I need someone to help me flesh out the story of the short film that best executes the idea of my story when it comes the world and the two characters. We need to come up with a polished structured story that stays in the limits of a 5- minute short film while still delivering something compelling and pushes the message of the film: A better world can't exist within your head, you need to put your ideas into the real world, as you'll find yourself stuck u your own fantasy and loose connection with the world while falling into insanity.

Pop–Pop is a voluntary nurse for the physic-ward Mayelek temporarily stays in and watches over him, as she comes very fond of his personal beliefs and worldview at large from her viewing the world in the same lens as they both share the idea the world if filled with crude and malicious people; the only different of which is that she thinks people should just accept the way the world is and learn to live in it, while Mayelek believes something needs to be done about it. People around her describe her character being very laid-back, jokester, and sarcastic with a bit of sasse yet has a foundation of gentleness, caring, and loving towards others; she treats the people she cares about as if she thinks they’re lessen then her but it's always proven to be a persona she puts on. Her attitude is grounded in logic and is very reluctant in keeping emotional bias away from her thinking processes at all times. It often seems cold as if she isn’t interested in the victims at hand, but it lets the objective truth shine through. Overall, her behavior appears like a passive uninterested person moving sluggishly around life, but she has a heart that shows compassion, nurturing, and the well being of others around her despite her dismissive behavior.
Her voice often sounds relaxed with a witty way of talking. People describe her sounding like she’d just smoked weed but isn’t fully capable of experiencing the high it usually gives off; Pop-Pop gives off the vibe that she’s trying to manipulate someone by pretending to be someone’s cool older sister while having a mothering cadence to her speech.

*Long sigh followed by a lip smack* Alright, frick it. Look, kid. There’s gonna be a lot of nasty and rude people in the world that we all have to put up with on a daily basis, and I understand how frustrating that can be. Trust me. If you saw what all of the nurses do when they're all on break, ohhh boy would just wanna grab the iron and… Uhhm, fuck uhh. Look! *Clears her voice* The point is that we have to learn to our composure when dealing with people that make us upset. And that idea of wanting people to become better, Mayelek is.. Uhh. Impossible, sweetie. Not everyone wants to change, because it's the right thing to do. Most people do the things they do because it's in their nature and identity to do so..

Well your mom and I thought how well we connected at the physic-ward and decided to make me your babysitter so the next uhh.. I don’t know. The foreseeable futurable, I guess. So, uhh. I see your room is a.. Pretty messy right now, huh? No worries though. Pop-Pop got you covered.. By helping you clean this up, because I ain’t doing this alone. But hey, after this we can have some tatter tots. I saw them in the freezer and I lovvve, fucking lovvve tatter tots. Your mom lets people cuss in her house, right? Uh, whatever.
