The Lunar Chronicles is a New York Times–bestselling series of young adult novels that reimagine classic fairytales in a futuristic world where humans, androids, and cyborgs coexist. Our project will follow the books closely, with voice actors embodying the characters in an audio drama format. The story follows a teenage cyborg named Cinder who deals with her wicked step-mother, finds love, and discovers secrets about herself. As the series continues, Cinder forges an alliance with Scarlet, a spaceship pilot; Cress, an imprisoned computer hacker; and Winter, a Lunar princess. Along with a diverse crew that includes a soldier, a criminal, and a royal guard, they must work together to rise up against the evil Queen Levana to save the country and possibly even the world.
This project is very ambitious and will require a large cast of voice actors to embody their unique roles. The list of characters is too long to be exhaustive; I will go into most of the major ones briefly here but there will be more - which means that some of you may be asked to read for or to take on roles that are not on this list as they come up.
Because this audio drama covers 4 books, the series will be a long process - however the length of this process is solely intended to keep the work load for voice actors very low, giving only a few lines at a time. While I intend to keep our cast consistent throughout, understudies will be cast for each role to fill it in the event that someone leaves the project midway.
Not all roles cast in this casting call will be present in the first season, so even if you feel you are too busy at the moment but might be free later, you should be fine so long as you audition for characters who are not a part of the second season! The seasons they are in will be indicated in their character descriptions.
I decided after auditioning myself and seeing an initial lack of interest in the role compared to other open roles that I will be playing CINDER, but all other roles are open for audition! I cannot wait to build our amazing ensemble.

We are officially halfway through production on Season 1 of The Lunar Chronicles, and that means it is time to open up the remaining roles of Season 2! There may not be many but these three are very important to the narrative. So if you did not get an audition in for this project originally, or if you were not cast as of yet, this is a great way to get involved! Check out the listing on my profile. Thank you to everyone who auditioned for this project! This was the most difficult casting job I’ve ever had, and all of you brought your A game. I did my best to include as many people as possible, and for those who were not cast, there will be future opportunities in later seasons. I also hope to do future audio dramas based on beloved books, so there will be plenty more opportunities like this one!

Hello everyone! Thank you to everyone who auditioned for this project. I know that auditions closed a few days ago, and I just want to update you all. I am just waiting on a few more callbacks (if you did not receive a request for a callback, that does not mean you are not being considered. I needed to hear more from some people and others I felt confident without the callback. Neither is good or bad). I expect to have casting results by Friday, possibly/hopefully even sooner than that, so keep an eye out! I have opted to include extra characters since there was such an incredibly large turnout, so do not be surprised if you find you were cast as a role you did not audition for, though I am trying to avoid this as best I can. This role will be present in all four seasons and will cover information which the dialogue of our audio-only format cannot. The narrator must speak clearly and enunciate properly.
An orange light flickered at the corner of her vision. Cinder was used to the little orange light; it came up all the time. It meant that someone was lying.
Peony’s silk dress felt like poison Ivy sliding over Cinder’s skin. This was not her dress. She was fake in it. An imposter. The grease smudged silk gloves were too delicate; she worried she might snag them on some poorly placed screw. She was a walking disaster and she knew it.
Scarlet is frank and abrupt, and has a tendency to act first and think later. She cares immensely for the people she loves, most notably her grandmother and Wolf, and can be short-tempered and reckless at times. She is independent, witty and is not afraid to speak her mind. Her voice should reflect her boldness, ferocity, and candor. SEASONS: 2, 3, 4
You just look so scared, like I'm going to disappear any minute. We're stuck on a spaceship, Wolf. I'm not going anywhere.
I know you don’t want to hurt me, Wolf. You helped me. You rescued me.
You're a disgrace to her - to everything she's ever stood for. She would risk her life to protect either one of us! She would risk her life for a stranger if it was the right thing to do. But all you care about is yourself.
Cress is generally very upbeat and happy. She is imaginative, and when she is in distress or has to overcome a difficult task, she usually escapes into another world, pretending to be someone else who is fit for the role. She is shy and very dependent on others. She is incredibly curious about the world around her, easily enchanted by even small details. SEASONS: 1, 3, 4
Maybe there isn’t such a thing as fate. Maybe it’s just the opportunities we’re given and what we do with them. I’m beginning to think that maybe great, epic romances don’t just happen. We have to make them ourselves.
Oh. Um. In a constellation, the brightest star is called the alpha. I thought maybe you meant that she's...like...your brightest star.
Winter is gentle, graceful, intelligent, and playful. Because she refused to use her glamour gift out of compassion, Winter has become slightly mad. She has a whimsical voice and uses flighty gestures. She almost skips when she walks, and has a tendency to wander off. She is comfortable around people but has a habit of getting into their personal space and making them uncomfortable. She is very kind, forgiving, and sympathetic. Her voice should have a Luna Lovegood quality, reflecting her innocence and oddity. SEASONS: 3, 4
Because the palace walls have been bleeding for years, and no one else sees it. No one believes me, but in some corridors, the blood has gotten so thick there's nowhere safe to step. When I have to pass through those places, I leave a trail of bloody footprints for the rest of the day, and then I worry that the queen's soldiers will follow the scent and eat me up while I'm sleeping. Some nights I don't sleep very well. But if the blood was real, the servants would clean it up. Don't you think?
Do you have any idea how worried I’ve been? I didn’t know if you were dead or being held hostage, or if you’d been eaten by one of the queen’s soldiers. It’s been driving me mad not knowing.

Kai is kind and always has his heart in the right place. Due to his position as a world leader at such a young age, he often comes off as naive and irresponsible to those close to him. He is very inquisitive, often asking series of questions in a rapid manner. He always places the welfare of his country and citizens before his own, to the point of willing to risk his own life and happiness. He also possesses strong leadership skills and gives a confident and self-assured vibe even in times of chaos. He is rather sarcastic, especially when in a bad mood. SEASONS: 1, 2, 3, 4
I know this is stupid, but part of me felt like if I could come see you today, if I could convince you to go with me tonight, then maybe I could still change things. It's dumb, I know. It's not like Levana cares if I, you know, might have actual feelings for someone.

Cruel, power-hungry, manipulative, and vain, Levana has been corrupted by power. Her obsession with beauty and power made her a tyrant over the Lunars. Cunning and manipulative, she thinly veils her true intentions behind pretty words: power over the Earth. Sh is very easily irritable and vindictive. Her voice must reflect both the sugary sweet side of her personality and her mad desperation for power. SEASONS: 1, 2, 3, 4

Iko having a heart of mechanized gold, is described to be extremely happy, sweet, and chipper. She has shown to be talkative and outgoing. She has an interest in fashion, specifically beauty. She is Cinder's dearest friend. SEASONS: 1, 2, 3, 4
Maybe her programming was overwhelmed by Prince Kai's uncanny hotness.

Scarlet and Wolf are saying gushy things in the galley. Normally I like gushy things, but it’s different when it’s real people. I prefer the net dramas.
Wolf was primarily portrayed as ambiguous, as it was hard for even Scarlet to trust him due to his unusual descent. At the beginning, Wolf showed little confidence in himself, seconding Scarlet's worries and did not force his views onto her. Later in the series, Wolf soon becomes more warm around people, additionally showing compassion. Wolf is willing to protect the ones that he is close with; he affirms that he is truly devoted to his group. SEASONS: 2, 3, 4

The Flynn Rider of the Lunar Chronicles, Thorne is sarcastic, has a devious streak, and is egotistical. He is flirtatious, winking, raising his eyebrows and smiling at almost every girl he sees. However, he can be very sweet, and is protective of his friends and especially of Cress. His voice should reflect his wit, arrogance, and comedic side. SEASONS: 2, 3, 4
A captain always knows where his ship is. It's like a psychic bond. And I don't like to think of it as 'stolen'. They have no proof that I didn't plan on giving it back.

It's just, when Cress thought she was in love with me, she was actually in love with this other guy she'd made up in her head, who was brave and selfless and stuff. I mean, he was a real catch, so who could blame her? Even I liked that guy. I kind of wish I was that guy
On the surface, he is cold and obedient. Within, he is very protective of the ones he loves, and will do anything for them. He can be very sweet at times, but he is also very sarcastic, though he tones it down around Winter. SEASONS: 1 (very briefly), 3, 4

Sybil displays little to no emotion and always acts professionally. She is self-assured and confident. She is a ruthless woman, shown to have zero sympathy for anybody who gets in her or her queen's way. She is manipulative, faking motherly emotions towards Cress during her childhood. SEASONS: 1, 2, 3, 4

He is shown to be kind and sympathetic as he exhibits dislike towards those who see cyborgs as inhuman or their treatment as second-class citizens. He seems to be self-conscious about his subpar stature. SEASONS: 1, 2, 3

Adri is very stuck-up and merciless to Cinder as she considered her beneath herself. She is righteous about her beliefs and shows no remorse for her actions. She considers herself higher than cyborgs, thinking that they're a disgrace to humans. She blames all of her misfortune on Cinder; she does not think she has to earn anything on her own, and sees everything Cinder has done for the family as a given. She cares very much about what others think. SEASONS: 1 (supporting role), 2, 3, 4
My only mistake was in waiting too long to be rid of you. Believe me, Cinder. You are a sacrifice I will never regret.

Peony was a very close friend of Cinder. Out of everyone in the Linh household, Peony was the most sympathetic and tried her best to help those close to her in any way possible. She had a liking of formal events, such as the annual ball at the palace. SEASONS: 1

Pearl shows little emotion to those not closely associated with her. She is a manipulative person who can easily act like the victim in order to rat someone out. Pearl tends to be nasty when she doesn't get her way, especially where Cinder is concerned. SEASONS: 1 (supporting role), 2, 3, 4

Torin is like a father figure to Kai. He carries a very diplomatic and serious demeanor most of the time and scolds Kai when he jokes around and thinks optimistically. Torin is logical and uses rational; he is determined to protect Kai as best he can, ensuring that those he deems unsafe and treacherous have no chance of bringing harm to him. He likewise cares deeply for the Commonwealth, its citizens and its wellbeing. His voice must carry dignity, maturity, and warmth. SEASONS: 1, 2, 3, 4
Eventually, Your Highness, we will have to discuss Queen Levana and what you intend to do about her. It would be wise to have a plan.

Stubborn and tenacious, level-headed and clever, strong willed and warm-hearted. She is somewhat awkward in conversations, due to a slight complex about her being a cyborg. She's a bit of a tomboy; although tough, she has a soft side that she occasionally shows, particularly to Kai. She cares deeply for the lives and welfare of all people. Her voice should reflect her strong will, determination, and strength of heart. SEASONS: 1, 2, 3, 4
News flash: I have never manipulated you. And I hope I never have to. But you aren't the only one with responsibilities and an entire country of people who are relying on you. So I'm sorry, your majesty, but you are coming with me, and you're just going to have to figure out whether or not you can trust me when we're not so pressed for time.
