Update again— Additional Voice Direction:
Thank you all so much again for the incredible response so far. I wanted to add a little more voice direction for Shi Yuansu and Zhan Qinmo, since these characters have very specific emotional textures.
These references are not meant as strict imitation requirements. They’re just meant to help communicate the tone, energy, pacing, and emotional direction we’re looking for.
For Shi Yuansu, I’m looking for a voice with grit, toughness, and a strong sense of resolve. His anger should feel explosive, but not performative — more like something that has been buried for a long time and is barely being held back. There should be a sense of survival in him: wounded, defiant, and still refusing to break.
His rhythm should have forward momentum, almost like a drumbeat. Tense, driven, and always close to the edge.
Musical inspiration: The Score’s “Deep End” and Daughtry’s “It’s Not Over.”
Vocal texture references: Chris Daughtry, Edgar Sandoval Jr., Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low, and Johnny Huynh’s “HELL ON ME.”
For Zhan Qinmo, I’m looking for something deeper, more restrained, and more dangerous in a quiet way. His voice should feel mature, masculine, languid, and elegant — almost ceremonial. He should sound like someone who does not need to raise his voice to control the room.
His pacing should be deliberate, with room for pauses and lingering weight. Not too fast, not overly theatrical — just controlled, intimate, and unsettlingly composed.
Musical style references: Poets of the Fall’s “Heroes and Villains” and Hearts & Colors’ “For the Love.”
Vocal texture reference: Sam Smith’s “Fire on Fire.”
Again, these are references, not boxes. I’m not looking for exact copies of any vocalist. I’m looking for actors who can capture the emotional core of the characters.

Update: Thank you all so much for the amazing response so far — I honestly didn’t expect this much enthusiasm, and I really appreciate everyone taking the time to read for these characters.
I also wanted to give a little more context about the project. Evil God Raising / Xie Shen Si Yang has a large online readership, estimated in the hundreds of thousands and potentially over half a million to a million readers across platforms. Because of that, we’re being careful with casting and want to find voices that really feel right for the characters.
For Shi Yuansu, the original song vocalist’s tone is an important reference, but it isn’t the only thing we’re listening for. If you feel you understand the heart of the character — wounded, restrained, defiant, and emotionally complex — you’re absolutely welcome to audition.
We’ve also decided to raise the upper payment range to $60 USD/hour for selected actors, depending on the final recording scope.
Thank you again for all the wonderful auditions. I’m going through them carefully and really appreciate the care and effort everyone has put in.

The Evil God Who Raised Me is an original Chinese queer dark romantasy / cosmic horror project currently casting English male voice actors for a short proof-of-concept audio scene.
This is a character-driven, cinematic project with a dark romantic atmosphere, psychological tension, mythic power dynamics, obsession, defiance, trauma, devotion, and cosmic horror elements. The tone is intimate, intense, dramatic, and emotionally charged.
I am currently looking for English male voice actors for two lead roles:
1. Shi Yuansu - a wounded, defiant survivor with sharp edges, survival rage, and modern American rock-vocalist energy. Think gritty, emotionally intense, raw, powerful, and rebellious.
2. Zhan Qinmo - an elegant, godlike manipulator with a calm, intimate, controlled, and quietly terrifying presence. Think velvet menace, divine arrogance, obsessive tenderness, and psychological control.
This is not commercial narration. I am looking for strong character acting suitable for animation-style performance, audio drama, visual novel, or cinematic proof-of-concept work.
First-round submissions may include an existing character demo reel or a short read using one or more of the provided audition lines. Shortlisted actors may be invited for a paid custom audition.
Paid custom audition rate: USD 50 per invited actor, per role. Full production recording, additional takes, directed callbacks, and commercial usage will be negotiated separately.
Actors must be comfortable with LGBTQ+ M/M dark romance themes, psychological intensity, fictional power imbalance, and heavy emotional material. No explicit sexual performance is required for this audition.
Professional studio is preferred but not required. A clean home-studio recording is acceptable. Please avoid phone audio, heavy room echo, background noise, music, sound effects, or excessive processing.
Audition recordings are for private casting evaluation only. They will not be published, used in the finished production, or used for AI training, voice cloning, synthetic voice generation, or dataset creation.
