The Disastrous Life of Saiki K Season 2 Episode 11 Fan Dub
Project Overview
For too long, the second season of the Disastrous Life of Saiki K has gone without an English dub. I want to fix that.
What is this project?
I'm going to be creating an English dub for a well-loved chapter from Saiki K's second season. Specifically, the chapter where Teruhashi meets Kusuke in episode 11. I'm looking for voice actors for all the characters in this chapter. Making even one chapter of the anime will take a while to edit by myself, so for now I'm casting for this chapter only. I'm hoping I might have time in the future to do other chapters, but it depends on how things go the first time around and how much time I have. It would be great if actors are open to continuing to play their character beyond this chapter.
What is the Disastrous Life of Saiki K about?
It's a comedy anime about a teenage boy named Kusuo Saiki who has psychic abilities. He just wants to live a quiet, normal life, but he unintentionally attracts the attention of multiple people with exuberant personalities who won't leave him alone. Between dealing with their antics and trying to keep his powers hidden, Saiki can never catch a break.
Who are you?
I am a film undergrad and big Saiki K fan. I have experience casting, directing, and editing short films, trailers, and other projects. This will be my first time making a fan dub, but I have done voice acting focused projects in the past, such as audio narratives. I like to do fun projects like this in my free time, which I have more of now that it's summer.
What are the audition requirements?
You must be 16 or older, have a discord account, and a decent mic. And be careful that your audio doesn't peak. For each character I've included their lines from one or two scenes in the show. I'd like for you to do at least the first scene (0), but if you could do both that would be even better!
Should I do an impression of the original English dub actor?
I want you to do your whatever your own best version of the character is. I'm not looking for impressions, just a voice that fits the character well. I do think it would be a good idea to check out the original Japanese VA's performances though.
Can I audition for multiple roles?
Yes! You can audition for as many as you like!
What's the casting process going to be like?
I'll look through everyone's submissions as they come in, and if I like yours, I'll message you asking for your discord so we can schedule a call. I'll send you a sample script of the chapter we're doing and when we meet, you can perform it. Then I'll give you direction and ask you to go through the script again. I'll do that with a few people, then I'll make the final casting decision.
What about the rest of the characters? Are you going to cast them too?
Yes, most likely I will at some point. If you're interested in a particular role that I'm not casting yet, keep an eye out. I'll either update this post or make a new one when I need more cast members.
Will you be sharing the dub?
Yes! I haven't decided exactly how yet, but I'll most likely either post it as unlisted on YouTube (to avoid a takedown), post it on Vimeo, or put it on a private website.

Kusuo is usually fairly cold and doesn't show a lot of emotion outwardly. He's a tsundere type character who complains a lot about being forced into spending time with others. Though he won't admit it, he does care for his friends deep down. He also often deals sharp wit/insults and is very self-aware when the show gets really ridiculous.
Scene 1 Context and Direction:
It's a snow day and Kusuo's friends Kaidou and Nendo ask him to come out and play with them. He refuses, but suddenly gets a headache. He gets a premonition that Nendo will die in the snow, and decides he has to go with them to prevent it. (All lines below are Kusuo.)

Good grief. Those guys are like elementary school kids. They give me a headache.
Wait! My head...
(after having the vision) Was that snowman supposed to be me?
Wait. That was a premonition!
I don't know what happened, but if I leave them something bad will happen to Nendo.
What a pain. I ended up coming along anyway.
This dummy doesn't even know when he's in danger.
Scene 2 Context and Direction:
Kusuo is at a festival when he realizes he can't find his wallet. He overhears one of his classmates lost theirs as well. He soon realizes that he must have been pickpocketed like his classmate. He's in complete disbelief and furious. (All lines below are Kusuo.)

He got pickpocketed, huh? He's as stupid as ever. You should be more careful when you're walking in a crowd.
(Has a realization) I got pickpocketed?!
Me?!
Me, a psychic?!
I did?!?!
I've never felt so humiliated.
(menacing) Festivals sure are fun, aren't they?
I'll make you pay for this... with interest!

Teruhashi is the perfect, most beautiful girl in the eyes of the public, and she knows it. She has a kind, gentle personality on the outside, but on the inside, she is very vain, and will often use people's admiration toward her to her advantage. She's in complete disbelief that Kusuo shows no interest in her and is determined to make him acknowledge her beauty and fall in love with her.
Scene 1 Context and Direction:
Teruhashi is narrating her life to the audience, talking about how she's the prettiest girl ever. (All lines below are Teruhashi.)

But even a perfect girl like me currently has a crush on a boy. He's an average-looking boy, and I'm way out of his league.
Why do I have a crush on him?
I know why.
It's because he ignores me.
To me, that is unforgivable. All men who see me must immediately blush and make fools of themselves!
Scene 2 Context and Direction:
Teruhashi notices Saiki walking down the street by himself and decides to make his day a little better by saying hi to him. However, when she does, all he does is briefly bow and continue walking. She gets very upset by this. (All lines below are Teruhashi, and everything is in her talking in her head, except for her greeting to Saiki.)

Poor thing... maybe I should go say hi to him.
Saiki! I thought it was you!
There! Now you'll cherish this memory for the rest of your life! You bumped into the prettiest girl in school while in town. On top of that, I took the trouble to rush over to you.
You're completely in love with me now, right?
It's okay, even though you don't know your own place. It's not your fault... after all, I'm just so pretty!
What?!? That's it?!?
You're supposed to panic at the thought of touching me!

Kusuke is Kusuo's genius older brother. He's extremely competitive, always trying to beat Kusuo at something, but he's never won. He often starts acting nefarious and then reveals that he's just joking or playing around. He has a general disregard for humanity aside from his family. Because of his constant competitions and messing around with his brother, Kusuo doesn't like him, and their relationship is strained. However, Kusuke does care for his younger brother despite not always acting like it.
Scene 1 Context and Direction:
In this scene Kusuke from an alternate timeline discovers his brother somehow came back to life. He's genuinely shocked and emotional (which is played for comedy), that Kusuo is alive, but soon after goes back to his normal self. After explaining his theory, he says he can't be right despite knowing he probably is. When he explains he didn't start the war he has almost a bit of a child-like innocence. (All the lines below are Kusuke.)

(surprised/shocked) Kusuo?
(crying) Oh my god!
It's so good to see you again!
But how did you come back to life? Wait, let me guess. Could it be that you accidentally time traveled from a different reality? Then you made a small change to the past. But when you returned there was a butterfly effect. You learned that you died three years ago, then you came to me. That's my theory, but that can't be right.
I knew it!
I didn't start anything. The fighting started because of something I invented. Otherwise, why would I start a war? I have no interest in the world or humanity at all. I'd sooner pit two rhinoceros beetles against each other.
Scene 2 Context and Direction:
Kusuke recorded a video message for his brother to watch. He sent it to Kusuo in a package that was disguised as coffee jelly but was actually a bomb. He knows Kusuo can easily deal with it, so he treats it as if it were nothing of consequence. He also slightly taunts Kusuo as he talks about all the coffee jelly he has to eat now. Near the end he suddenly turns serious when talking about another bomb, but then switches to playful as he says he's kidding. (All the lines below are Kusuke.)

Kusuo, how's it going? If you're watching this, it means you've dealt with the bomb. I know you like coffee jelly so I thought I would trick you into opening it, but I regret it. Now I'm stuck eating these coffee jellies every single day.
(eating coffee jelly) Mhm, this is tasty.
I've placed another bomb in this city. Let's play a game Kusuo.

Kuniharu is Kusuo's dad. He can be cowardly and kind of pathetic at times, but he tries his best to be a good father. He's very much in love with his wife and despite getting annoyed by Kusuo's behavior at times, he cares about him a lot as well.
Scene 1 Context and Direction:
Kuniharu is running late to work and begs his son to teleport him there, but he refuses. Once he offers to buy a coffee jelly, Kusuo immediately transports him to his office. (All lines below are Kuniharu.)

Ahhh! Look at the time! I'm already late for work! Please, Kusuo! Make that pink door that teleports me to my-- (Kusuo interrupts him saying no.)
(Really overly dramatic) I'm begging you! Aaaaggghhhh!
I'll buy your favorite coffee jelly on the way home.
What? Whoa! We're on the rooftop of my office!
Thank you Kusuo! Now my boss will only slap me four times instead of five!
Scene 2 Context and Direction:
Kurimi (Kusuo's mom) bought a ton of items from door-to-door salesmen. Kuniharu is somewhat upset about it at first, but when Kurimi starts apologizing, he feels bad and tries to play it off as not a big deal. However, once she walks out of the room, he begs for Kusuo to help get his money back. (All the lines below are Kuniharu.)

Don't worry about it honey. You did it because you were thinking of us. Knowing that actually makes me really happy. Who cares about one million yen, right?
Now don't you worry about it. Let's have dinner.
(Desperate, panicked) Oh great Kusuo! Please fix this!

Kurimi is Kusuo's mom. She's very sweet and bubbly, and sometimes a bit of an airhead. She's often the one pushing her son to go out with his friends more. She's also very much in love with her husband. However, she occasionally lets out a dark side of herself when she's angry and practically turns into a monster, which of course is played for laughs.
Scene 1 Context and Direction:
Kusuo's friend Nendo comes to his house asking if he wants to go to the beach with him. Kusuo's mom meets him for the first time and is extremely happy and excited that her son has found a friend. When Kusuo says he isn't going, she suddenly gets serious and forces him to go. (All lines below are Kurimi.)

(shocked) Kusuo, is this boy your friend?!
(starts crying) Oh dear! This is the first time one of Kuu's friends has come to our house to visit. I'm so happy!
Oh dear! To think Kuu has finally gotten a best friend...
Oh dear! He thinks I'm his big sister! I'm so happy!
So what brings you here today?
Oh that sounds fun!
(Deadly serious) Your best friend went to all this trouble to come and get you. You're going to the beach Kusuo.
Scene 2 Context and Direction:
Kurimi has been tricked into buying items from door-to-door salesmen. But when Kusuo activates "forced telepathy" she can suddenly hear all the bad thoughts from the salesman and realizes he's ripping her off. She practically turns into a monster and chases after him as he runs away. (All lines below are Kurimi.)

I'll be casting multiple people for this. These are a bunch of guys who love Teruhashi (like almost every guy does) and go to defend her when she starts crying. I won't be meeting with people on discord for these roles; I'll just pick people based on the lines below.
Scene 1 Context and Direction:
Teruhashi starts to cry and once the guys notice, they get upset with Kusuke because he made her cry. They band together and try to attack him but are ultimately unsuccessful. For all of these lines, the guys are angry and yelling.
