Hello there! And welcome to my casting call for my Sonic Chronicles POW Fandub! Before we get started just what is this project about?
We will be dubbing the POW Moves, also known as Power Moves or just Skills, of all of the of playable characters. The game does not use voice clips, merely just sound effects and text. Thus, shouting is a MUST! You MUST be able to shout comfortably!
Sonic Chronicles is a role playing game that came out in 2008. It has a lot of familiar Sonic faces and locations. The game has a full story that, while maybe a little all over the place, is actually decently solid.
The combat, contains mostly QTE's, is very much your typical RPG style.
All the characters have special skills, known as POW moves. These are what we are going to be fandubbing.
Most of the lines will be inspired from various clips from previous Sonic games. So if you are Sonic fan, you might recognise a few f the lines from previous games!
All characters will have 1 script, so this is a very short project that we will hopefully have completed by the end of the summer!
Now let’s get the rules ironed out! (Well I say rules, more like guidelines!)
Rule Number 1 – Mic Quality! A super expensive mic is not required! Any mic can be used so long as the recording set up is good! Please have as little background noise as possible in your recordings! Also, try not to pop or peak if you can help it! To avoid popping, be sure to use a pop filter, or pillow case works too! Or stand a little distance back from the mic! To avoid peaking, again stay a little bit back from the mic and avoid recording in an echo-y space!
Rule Number 2 – Remember your acting! I have made sure to put little inflections in brackets before each line so you have a little clue behind the emotion I am looking for!
Rule Number 3 – “Attacking”? Line 3 for each character has attacking at the start. This basically means the line must be shouted! Shouted in any old way, just so that I know you can shout! As that’s the aim of this project!
Rule Number 4 – Contacts. Please have both Discord and an email address! My preferred method is through email, but we can have a Discord group too!
Rule Number 5 – No limits! No limits on how many characters you can be cast as, and no limits to how many characters you can audition for! Audition for everyone and anyone! Oh and anyone is allowed to audition for anyone! Even if you don’t think you might fit the character, you never now! Your audition might be the one I select!
Rule Number 6 – Have fun! Now with all the boring rules out the way, do your best and have fun! Lots of energy is needed for these characters, so be sure to have fun and enjoy yourself!
And just a few little last notes.
If you are cast, I will comment on your audition with further instructions.
Roles will be cast the day after auditions close, if the roles are not cast on the day of casting, the deadline will be extended.
If you would like some feedback, please send me a direct message and I will give some feedback, I can’t show favourites before I cast!
I will be self casting for at least one role, but I will choose that role after I hear all the auditions and choose who I am casting you all as first!
The initial deadline will be 2 weeks to get lines to me once they are sent out. I’m happy to give out any extensions needed, but within reason! (there won’t be any 10 week extensions or anything!)
Almost all of the characters have several English voice actors, and thus I have added a short summary on my thoughts on some of the voice actors I would like to hear in the auditions. these are of course, just for guidance. You are welcome to try your own spin on each character!

Based on English VA's - I would prefer Sonic to sound closer to Jason Griffith. I always read Sonic's lines in Jason's voice. However, voices like Ryan Drummonds', Jaleel White's or Ben Schwartz's would work too! Roger Craig Smith's voice is a little deeper than how I would prefer Sonic to sound for this particular project!
The world's fastest supersonic hedgehog sports an attitude and a sarcastic grin. When his tour of the world is interrupted by a call for help, he knows he has no choice but to return at breakneck speed. Evil deeds to Sonic are like a red rag to a bull, and when his friends are caught up in it, there's no holding back.
[reminiscing] Ahh, Green Hill Zone. We've had some good times here, haven't we, Tails?
[issuing commands] They're getting away! Stop them, team! Don't let Eggman's robots escape!
[attacking] Ready!? GO!
Based on English VA's - I would personally prefer Amy sounded like either Jennifer Douillard or Lisa Ortiz's take, keeping upbeat and energetic voices, with a nice girly feel them.
Amy is a pink hedgehog with a big heart and an unrelenting yearning for Sonic's affection on her own terms. Though generally good natured, she gets hot-headed when riled, and her weapon of choice, the Piko-Piko Hammer, can always be relied upon to make her feelings clear. She missed Sonic while he was away, but a lot can change over time.
[positive and teasing Sonic] I'm SO glad to see you, Sonic! But...not THAT glad. I do have a BOYFRIEND now, you know! His name is Dexter!
[getting flustered] Oh, well sure you could meet him, but...he's very busy! And he works a lot! But I'll be sure to introduce him to you someday!
[attacking] I'll destroy all of you!
Based on previous VA's - I would much prefer Tails to keep the trend of being voiced by a woman doing a young boy's voice, but of course anyone can try for Tails! Just as long as you sound like a kid! I'm personally a big fan of Kate Higgins, Amy Palant and Colleen O'Shaughnessey's takes the most! Tails' won't do as much shouting, but be sure to keep his lines as energetic and cheerful as you can!
Tails is a kid fox with two tails and a zeal for helping Sonic, who he has always thought of as a big brother. With Eggman out of the picture, his engineering skills have become unrivaled. His ingenious creativity has been put to good use during Sonic's extended absence, building wondrous mechanical marvels for the betterment of society.
[friendly] After you meet up with Amy, come meet me at my workshop in Central City.
[happy] Alright! We made it! We're through the gate in one piece! Now let's keep pressing on to our destination!
[attacking] Watch this!
Based on previous VA's - I read all of Rouge's lines in Kathleen Delaney's voice for Rouge, so I would prefer Rouge to have a deeper and older sounding voice. But I do like both Karen Strassman and Lani Minella's higher takes on Rouge as well. But as long as she has a nice, sultry and flirtatious voice, either a higher or lower pitch is fine with me!
Rouge is a sassy and flirtatious bat with an eye for jewels and treasure, and a knack for stealthily procuring them. She has been contracted by G.U.N. (Guardian Units of Nations) via the president, which makes her an advantageous ally, though Sonic and friends feel better keeping an eye on their valuables when she's around.
[flirting] Oh, well if isn't Sonic the Hedgehog. I haven't seen you in a long time.
[disappointed] Oh great, mother always told me I'd find myself on an alien planet without a change of clothes.
[attacking] Jewel Storm!
Based on previous VA's - Jon St. John's take is my favourite, and really the only one I remember since Big isn't used too much nowadays. Big's emotions will change from being terrified to very confident at the drop of hat, so be ready for a roller coaster ride with Big's script!
Big is a giant cat who lives in a hut in the Mystic Ruins, and he spends his days fishing with his best friend Froggy. He's a little slow-witted, but doesn't pretend to be otherwise, and he always does right by his friends. He's enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the past few years, so he is apprehensive about having to leave his home on another adventure.
[cheerful] The funny cloud doesn't hurt me, but it makes my eyes sad.
[happy] AH! There you are Froggy! I found you again! YAY!
[attacking] FROGGY!
Based on previous VA's - I would prefer Knuckles to sound like either Dan Green or Travis Willingham, Scott Dreier's voice also sounds really cool too! I would prefer Knuckles to sound more aggressive, as the he is a central character to the plot and goes through some tough times.
Believed to be the last of his kind, Knuckles is the stoic guardian of the Master Emerald. Despite being Sonic's rival, they've often worked together to recover the Master Emerald from the villains who sought to steal it. His spiky fists pack a mighty punch and enable him to climb vertical faces with ease.
[ready for action] We can't let those guys invade our world. We have to stop them!
[annoyed] I don't need your help, Sonic! I can handle this all on my own!
[attacking] And stay down!
Based on previous VA's - All of Cream's voices sound so pure and innocent, perfectly fitting for Cream! I personally prefer Sarah Wulfeck's voice the most as it feels the most realistic. Cream will have very little lines that involve damaging the foe as she is a support character, she will mostly be dancing around cheering other characters on.
Cream is a well-mannered young rabbit with flapping ears that enable her to fly. She's rarely seen without her best friend; a dapperly attired Chao named Cheese. Though she detests violence in all its forms, there's no telling what she might do when the safety of her friends is threatened. Her favourite food is ice cream, which she would happily eat every day.
[impressed] Wow, Mr Sonic is very cool, isn't he!
[happy] Yay! You found Cheese! Thank you very much Mr Sonic! Can I please join you on your journey?
[cheerful] Round and round we go~
Based on previous VA's - Mike Pollock's voice is my favourite for Eggman. In this project, I would like Eggman to have more of a mad inventor feel to him, so his lines will be a little crazier than he is known for being!
Doctor Eggman is the eternal nemesis of Sonic, a genius and mad scientist who is bent on world domination. After being defeated by Sonic and his friends, he tries to recover using what scraps he can, and manages to build a small base. After being found by Sonic, he joins with him to help stop the Marauders.
[annoyed] Gah! What are you doing!? Running in here, blowing my robots to pieces! What kind of a 'hello' is that!?
[slimy/happy] Ahahahaha! Sonic the Hedgehog, is it? Of course, how could I forget my old friend. Even though you blew up my airship, I still have a mutual respect for you hehehe...
[attacking] Blast away!
Based on previous VA's - Jason Griffith is my favourite voice for Shadow, but I also like David Humphrey's take on Shadow. However, I will be basing Shadow's lines more off of Jason's take on Shadow, with a darker, edgier and more aggressive take on his character.
Shadow is an artificially-created life form designed by the renowned scientist Gerald Robotnik at the height of his career. His trademark hover shoes propel him at extreme speeds that rival those of Sonic, and he has the ability to distort time and space using "Chaos Control". He is looking for Omega, who went to Metropolis to stop Eggman, and hasn't returned since...
[serious] Believe it or not, Omega...but the Doctor is actually helping Sonic fight the marauders. So for now, Eggman is our ally.
[ready to fight] I don't have time for this! Let's see if you've been practising while you were away. Because I have not let my skills drop!
[attacking] Chaos Control!
Based on previous VA's - Jon St. John has the best Omega voice in my opinion. I would like Omega to have a strong voice, but still with an emotionless personality.
This supreme machine was built as the final and most powerful robot in Dr. Eggman's E-100 Series, and his wide arms are equipped with many concealed weapons. Angry that his maker shut him down before he could realize his great potential, he destroys all of Dr. Eggman's machinery to prove his ultimate power. He can be found in stand-by mode in Metropolis, and, if reawakened, will join and Sonic on his mission.
[ready to fight] Orange forest creature has gone mad! Recommend immediate destruction!
[angry] Those marauders will pay for what they did to me! Following their defeat, I will then turn my sights towards Doctor Eggman!
[attacking] Firing missiles!
Shade is the only character to never have an English voice, and thus her voice is open to interpretation. However, I picture her with a voice like Erica Schroeder or Laura Bailey's voices for Blaze.
Procurator Shade is the lieutenant among the Marauders, and the head of intelligence within that organization—essentially a super spy. She has lived within the Twilight Cage with others of her lost clan these past millennium and her job has been a challenging one, given so many rival factions constantly vying for supremacy. After realizing that Imperator Ix has been deceiving her, she joins Sonic in an attempt to stop him.
[annoyed] Abandon your quest and back away now. This is your last warning before we exterminate you!
[serious] Don't worry, the emeralds are safe. We are simply returning them to their TRUE masters.
[attacking] Everyone! Fall back! NOW
