Sjolthryn - Skyrim Mod

Sjolthryn - Skyrim Mod

Project Overview

The project

Sjolthryn is an upcoming new lands mod for Skyrim that expands the playable area of Solstheim with a brand new island full of content to explore.

The mod is centered around an ill-fated expedition organized by House Redoran that seeks to get to them bottom of the mysterious occurrences on the largely uninhabited island of Sjolthryn.

The mod features:

  • An entire island to explore

  • 10 quests

  • 10 hand-crafted dungeons

  • One new fully-functioning settlement

  • Unique gear and spells

  • And more

Disclaimer: I do not use AI of any kind during the creation of my projects. All content, code and everything else in the mod was made by hand.

How it will release

Sjolthryn will release entirely for free both on Nexus and on consoles (including playstation if possible). I do not profit from this project in any way.

The casting process

All roles will be assigned after the submission deadline. Voice actors can apply to as many roles as they'd like and might be assigned to multiple roles if they are a good fit.

If you'd like more information on the characters than what is listed in the role description, send me a message and I'll answer when I'm able.

About me

Latest Updates

  • New Role Added

    Hello everyone!

It's a bit last minute, but I've added a new Dunmer Female role to the casting call.

I will be taking into account auditions for Daysa and Kirena, so if you are interested in it, but don't have time to submit an audition, you can still get the role.

I'll also remind anyone who's still planning to audition that the deadline is on the 14th.

Thank you all for your interest in this project. I really appreciate it!

Daysa is a weathered adventurer and archeologist for hire. She is currently, alongside her partner Lost-In-Thoughts, leading the expedition into Sjolthryn per House Redoran's request. Being hired directly by Grand Councillor Dralor from Blacklight, she is the de facto leader of the expedition, despite not being an official member of House Redoran.

Daysa is strict and to the point. She has little interest in uncovering relics or lost secrets if she's not being paid for it. She also acts as a foil to Lost-In-Thoughts, contrasting his curiosity and lack of focus with a no nonsense approach to getting the job done and getting paid.

Throughout the mod, Daysa acts as one of the primary quest givers, recruiting the player into the team and accompanying them as they explore the ruin at the center of the island.

This is a lead role.

  • And I keep telling you, Captain, we are not heading back with our hands empty, and definitely not without Thoughts. We just need to secure a foothold on this island before heading to the ruin. The fort to the east is our best move.

  • Great, because we really don't have the time for them either. It's only a matter of time before another wave of draugr make their way here. We are in a tough spot and could use all the help we can get. You help us, and I'll promise to compensate you fairly. Do we have a deal?

  • Who, me? No, no. Thoughts and I are what you'd call an independent party. We are just on Redoran payroll. House Redoran values strength and honor, but sometimes you need a lighter touch. When that happens, they call us.

Lost-In-Thoughts is an arrogant and powerful Argonian Mystic. He is over 200 years old and has been in more adventures than he can even remember.

Thoughts acts as a foil to Daysa, being unfocused and getting distracted quite often. He has a big sense of curiosity, an enormous ego, and a very spotty memory as a result of his long years. The duo act as the main archaeologists of the expedition, with Thoughts handling any magic-related obstacles they might find on their mission.

He was born in Morrowind and has little to no ties to his people, usually speaking with vocabulary more typical to a Dark Elf or Imperial rather than an Argonian. He basically fills the role of an endearing asshole, acting and sounding superior but with enough charm and skill to pull it off.

Lost-In-Thoughts also joins the player as a fully-fledged follower after the main questline is complete.

This is a lead role.

  • [in disbelief, devolving into a rant] Rescue me? From what? This middling attempt at storytelling these brutes call literature? Do I look like I am in need of any rescuing here? This fort is hardly an inn, but it beats wandering around until I figure out my next move. Besides, what could you possibly want with me to make you come all the way here to 'rescue' me?

  • Normally, this would be the part where you blindly dig through the rubble hoping to get lucky and happen upon the claw. Luckily for you, though, I happen to have a much better solution at my disposal. Like in the ruin, I will pull from certain moments in time from the past. It might take a few attempts, but one should eventually show us the way to our key.

  • [offended, the player just refused their help] You'll... think about it? Why, do you have any idea- I... a renowned mage... offer to help you... and you'll think about it?! Why, I ought to-- Bah! Suit yourself. I'll be here when you are done with your "deliverations". It's not like I have anywhere else to go. For now, at least.

Captain Drenos is a battle-hardened and loyal member of House Redoran. He shows the usual strict and unwavering personality typical of a military man with a long career.

Drenos cares a lot about etiquette and military protocol, speaking with a direct and commanding tone, and expecting to be addressed with the respect his position demands.

He takes on the role of the main representative of his House in the mod. He holds an almost dogmatic view of his House as the main driving force behind Morrowind's recovery since the Red Year and the Argonian Invasion.

  • House Redoran is home to Morrowind's bravest and wisest. The house stands as the bastion that keeps the province from falling apart against its enemies. We maintain the traditions of our people against those who would rather forsake them, and uphold honor and duty above all else. I could tell you about all the great victories of House Redoran, but they are too many to name, and I have duties to attend to.

  • I don't give a skeever's ass whether you are here for gold, trinkets, or if you just have nothing better to do with your miserable life. You will address me as your superior from now on, and follow whatever orders I give. Understood, s'wit?

  • We are all tired and the scum calling that place home outnumbers us five to one. But, I would like to believe one trained Redoran soldier is worth a hundred scoundrels. Now, unless any of you fancy the idea of swimming your way back, let's make Redoran proud and claim that fort under its flag!

Talusei is a retired argonian pirate, serving House Redoran as a way to atone for the crimes of his past. He speaks with a rough, but calm tone. Usually mumbling short sentences with a sense of introspection or tiredness.

During his youth, Talusei would sail the eastern seas in search of merchant vessels he could rob alongside his crew. He was a wanted pirate across all of Morrowind, until the Redoran navy caught up to him.

Nowadays, he serves his sentence through his servitude to House Redoran, showing a deep sense of regret for the death and suffering he caused earlier in his life.

  • Bloodshed, destruction, betrayals... They scar the land. It remembers, judges you. Your actions, imprinted in the very ground under your feet. The sea, however? It's indifferent, uncaring. Better that way for me. Might otherwise open old wounds with too many scars on them.

  • A dock, guards, and a place to rest my head. As good as any other. Prefer being at sea. Land doesn't concern me.

  • I've just arrived. Last helmsman drowned. Redoran needed a new one. They sent me. You. You are the resourceful type, yes? I can smell it on you. I have a task for you, if you are interested. Hear me out.

Kirena is a Kwama researcher sent by House Redoran to perform some experiments in training Kwama for military purposes.

  • I will now begin the nurturing process the eggs need to hatch into healthy scrib. The first stage of kwama metamorphosis. It's a delicate process only a highly trained professional can perform. Any mistake can spell disaster.

  • Kwama develop outstandingly fast under the right conditions. All it takes is a little know-how and the right equipment. We'll have foragers and workers turning this place into a proper mine before you know it.

Telris is a middle-aged fisherman living in Raven Rock. He is a drunk and cowardly man, getting himself into trouble after going drinking, which usually results in his friend Adryn having to bail him out.

He speaks in your typical Skyrim Dunmer voice, largely complaining about ash and his struggles as he goes by the day.

  • Can't say I'm surprised. That thrice-cursed island might as well be a graveyard by now.

  • Well, I had a bit too much to drink and I- Look, it's not my proudest moment. I'll turn myself in once I'm out if that's what you want. Just help a Dunmer out. I don't want to die down here!

  • Ahh, I can already feel the ash filling my lungs again! I swear on my mother's name I'll never drink again.

Adryn is a middle-aged fisherman living in Raven Rock. He is a man who just wants to get through his day avoiding trouble, which usually doesn't work out for him thanks to his life-long friend Telris.

He speaks in your typical Skyrim Dunmer voice, although he changes his tone around Telris, employing a harsher tone that usually softens up when he is done chewing his friend out for his last drunkenly mess.

Adryn is likely the first character the player will talk to in the mod, as they are the ones who point them to the expedition to the newly added island.

  • Did you not just hear what I said? Why on Nirn would you ever want to set foot on that place? Don't answer, I don't particularly care either way. If you want to get to the island, you either swim, or take a boat.

  • Well... you see. We had a rough day yesterday, spent all day sitting by the waters here and didn't manage a single bite. We needed to unwind, so we went over to Geldi's and... Well, we might have had a bit too much Sujamma.

  • Our friend here has offered us a job in a fishing crew. Seeing how you got us blacklisted from half the shops in Raven Rock, I took the liberty to accept for the both of us.

The voice used for all the nameless soldiers and guards found across the mod. They take the role of the Skyrim guard, consisting mostly of idle dialogue that reacts to the player's actions throughout the mod.

There is also a specific guard that has a short dialogue with the player at the beginning of the mod, and would be the first voice they hear if they miss the fishermen hanging around Raven Rock and head straight to the island.

The guards should be well-spoken but rough sounding, usually treating the player somewhat poorly, while showing due respect to their captain. The Solstheim Redoran guards are the best example of what I'm looking for in this role.

  • Halt! This is House Redoran territory. State your business, or be on your way.

  • More like grave robbers, if you ask me. I hardly understand why we couldn't handle this by ourselves. But orders come from high above, so it's not my place to question them.

  • Go to the frontier, they said. It will be good for your career, they said.

An ancient dragon priest lying at the very heart of Sjolthryn. They speak in a rough and commanding voice, usually mixing English and Dovahzul (I can link to a pronounciation guide).

This voice will be heard more and more as the player advances through the questline, hinting at a great evil at the bottom of the mystery that is, for some reason, demanding help.

Auditions should be handed in without voice effects, although the final product will be editing to sound ghostly similarly to how Skyrim handles Miraak and Morokei in the base game.

The voice direction is largely up to interpretation.

  • Vokostiid! Is my mind playing tricks on me? Have I not suffered enough, Thurri? Nid. There is no question. A joor -- a mortal -- has stepped into Apocrypha through my book.

  • Your reward is a choice. You can either strike a bargain. Link your fate with mine so that we shall meet again when I am in need of your service. Or I can carry out the sentence the laws of this place demand for your intrusion. Death.

  • Do you not see the predicament you find yourself in now? You've meddled in the affairs of beings above your station. Our fates, and that of the scaled one that bound me here, are now linked. I simply offer the power you will need to survive what is coming.

  • Your contributions to House Redoran's coffers are greatly appreciated. I assure you.

  • Do not misunderstand your station. Captain Drenos may have given you a title, but it's merely temporary.
