The Zipper Bunch Band Show (PILOT)

The Zipper Bunch Band Show (PILOT)

Project Overview

OVERVIEW:

The Zipper Bunch Band Show is an upcoming analog TV-presented animated comedy/variety webseries with a strong emphasis on humour and consisting on animated segments in the form of random short stories featuring the band and other characters, similar to that of Looney Tunes shorts; shorts last for 5 up to 10 minutes.

At the moment, I have a cast down in mind but I’m currently on the lookout for any backups just in case of any of them dropping out of the project (paid or unpaid), and or characters that don’t have a voice actor in mind yet. I’m hoping to finish the pilot sometime this year if possible.

SYNOPSIS:

The series follows the titular Zippo the Dog, self-proclaimed leader of his Zipper Bunch Band and his animal companions; shorts/minisodes take the bandmates on random and out-of-their-zone comedic adventures as they explore the world around them, albeit barely, sometimes solo or even duo, or all together, whilst passing ties with their arch rivals and or enemies along the way for insane shenanigans to ensue. Episodes/videos consist of 3-4 shorts and a song performed by the band at the end.

AUDITION INFO:

A decent recording setup and microphone is required for all voice actors auditioning, and please be experienced in this field; there should be no plosives, background noises, echoes or clipping heard in the audio. In addition, you should make sure that if you end up being casted, make sure the space you record in is the best one that will suit your needs and comfort.

It is required that auditions should be submitted using an ABC/ABC format with a maximum of two takes per character you wish to audition for. It may also be helpful for you to read up on the characters prior to auditioning to get a sense of who and what they are about before going ahead with said audition. The recording should not be modified in any way and should remain raw. I would recommend you to be aware that you would either be doing a full time main character or a part time minor one.

Make sure to link your Discord in the description of your audition.

*Please also make sure you do have other socials (mainly Twitter, Instagram, Casting Call Club or YouTube, etc.) to link down as well so I can at least credit you in the credits section of the video(s) if you do end up being casted.*

AGE: 34 (male)

BORN: Boston, Massachusetts

The spokesperson, ringleader, lead singer and the face of the Zippo's WunderFunland amusement park, as well as the self-proclaimed (egotistically thinking) leader and manager of the fictional Zipper Bunch Band group; a confident top dog of his own belief. Onstage, he usually sings and performs lead vocals. It's not unusual for him to be short-tempered at times; he’s not really that bright as he seems, particularly in situations in which he's put in a frustrating authority position due to the crazy antics within the band backstage. Nevertheless, he tries to always remain cheerful and kind-hearted while keeping everything under control (and his own cool), although sometimes he can be a bit selfish and full of himself at times.

As for Cassie the Horse, his main love interest, Zippo discovers that he's involved in a love triangle battle with his friend, Chompy the Crocodile, who loves her too. He may need to step things up to stand a chance.

Must be able to put on a confident-sounding yet sorta natural cartoony voice, while maintaining the idea of the voice examples down below, and also to be able to sing as well in said voice:

  • Who, me? As leader, I am entitled to a strong degree of respect and utmost loyalty, and reliability, and as leader, I have to make sure my authority remains sharp, i.e. pristine, for I am shouldering a lot of responsibility; hey, perhaps I can show this guy who's boss.

AGE: 25 (male)

BORN: Tampa, Florida

A ‘dile born from the southernmost bayous of America with a signature redneck-like accent, he’s nature’s best friend, joining alongside the band in hopes of getting his guitar heard by the right people. Former part-time farmer with a countryside point-of-view, Chompy has a great sense of adventure with his already accustomed knowledge and his laid-back attitude when it comes to being around the great outdoors. However, he isn't the most intelligent, so he sometimes leads the gang astray into all sorts of perilous scenarios as a result, but not all the time though.

Zippo the Dog considers him his "sidekick" or "partner-in-crime" at times; some might consider him to be his closest friend. Likewise, he also has an eye on Cassie the Horse too; both their desire are at stake, and Chompy is there in the ring ready to tussle with Zippo with his secret weapon of charisma which he is certain will sweep her off her hooves in a whirlwind of passion.

Must be able to put on a redneck-sounding southern cartoony voice (think stereotypical cartoon farmer), while maintaining the idea of the voice examples down below, and also to be able to sing as well in said voice.

AGE: 29 (female)

BORN: Seattle, Washington

A equine with a mind creative and wild as the wind, joining the band to rock the keys and expand her own musical genius. She’s the band’s super cool mama bear, and hey, Zippo the Dog may need to take notes, even if he’s clueless to see through her magic. There's no doubt about it; she's got style, she's got talent, and she's always there to lend a hoof when someone's in need; she is your go-to galpal!

Even though Zippo the Dog and Chompy the Crocodile are head over paws and claws for her more than anything else, she is not just some pushover for their thumping hearts; she’s a born fighter. Her sass is on point, and she won't hesitate to put them both in their place if things get out of hand. It does not matter how much it costs, if she’s looking for real affection and trust, she’s definitely not willing to compromise.

Must be able to put on an deepish 80s Saturday Morning cartoon woman character-like voice, while maintaining the idea of the voice examples down below, and also to be able to sing as well in said voice.

  • No, no, no; the two of you, behave yourselves! You, especially, Zippo; you’ve been a short-tempered mess for the past week, give it a break, will you?

  • But I know deep down you tried; being the one in charge is not easy, and I should’ve known that. I know it's embarrassing to admit this, but... I was once a person who wanted everything as well, but I learned that the hard way. Life isn't always about the free things, but sometimes, the best things come at a price. AGE: 22 (male)

BORN: Springfield, New Jersey

An audience favourite under the big top; a star of his own performance, he found himself a new act in tagging along with Zippo and his crew as a crazy cool drummer, ready to rock your world. When the laughs need a little boost and the good times need a little crank, he’s your jack-of-all-trades panda; bringing sad scenes into sunny skies.

But don’t be fooled by his easygoing demeanour — this fuzzy dynamo dude’s got serious brainpower for just a simple everyday comedian. Whenever Zippo starts acting up and sparks fly profusely, Ray has the street smarts and the 411 to keep him in check so that he doesn't spiral too out of control; and vice versa with the rest of the band members, although rarely.

A laid-back lion akin to the one who sleeps (tonight), but one who somehow can't catch a break on the sneezing and the sniffling (hence the name). In spite of his mild sluggishness in catching onto most things, he may not be the fastest thinker; if it were up to him, he'd rather catch some Z’s. But that’s just how he rolls; despite being out of shape at times, he still knows how to get around town like nobody's business, and to all the others, he wears a heart of gold that shines brighter and bigger than platinum, when he's awake that is. Just don’t make him roar!

  • It would seem that mankind has given up for good, after all. Isn't that right; the thought almost makes me laugh. The problem seems hopeless to reverse, and none of them seem willing enough to even try. After all, a vicious cycle is created when you repeat the pattern over and over again; you’d hate it that way. Or do you believe all are happy?

  • As your best friend, I say this to you.

  • But even sometimes, every gain must come with a loss, like a young boy growing into a matured young man; beings have to lose the things of innocence and naivety they cling onto the most in order to move on, so too must you shed your illusions and embrace the truths of this world.

  • Oh, come on, honey; of course I still love you, regardless of who you become, regardless of what happens; we must understand that nothing can be changed overnight, the inevitability of the tides of time cannot be altered by anything but time alone.

  • Um…, just a… dinner with my husband and friends, that’s all; nothing too big, haha. But as long as all this rain ends before then, I'm hoping it will be a good enough day.

  • I know, but it’s just… every time I think about what I did, my head hurts, it hurts so much; God, why am I such a fool?

  • But all this new information, despite the slightly severe fire damage, begs the question: just who inside is the person responsible, literally speaking, and was he really the person we thought he was? News Channel’s Diana Callaghan has spoken with the Portland Police Bureau officials as well as members of the Forensic Evidence Division team and local fire safety commissioners who were at the scene yesterday, and he joins us right now in the newsroom to tell us more about this chilling story. Diana?

  • Since there appears to be no signs of leads to any possible conclusions, we may never know who really did it. Said supposed suspects are still unknown and unapprehended.

  • Well, Tim, I must say it was just horrible what they were able to unearth on the premises, and it continues to be quite a nightmare. In his statement to the News Channel team, Portland police chief Charles Moose comments that "law enforcement is currently at a loss, confused and baffled by what is happening", particularly in light of the recent fire that resulted in this situation to begin with. In the forensics division, the investigation was wrapped up just 2 hours ago and more struggle is expected tomorrow and the coming days as a number of new discoveries are still yet to be made, although just how many is unknown at the moment.
