Introduction:
Hello, dear people who are reading this! I'm making a casting call for a future youtube Gacha series I'll be creating, called "Secret Love". At first, I was just going to animate the series, but later on, I got encouraged by many friends to make my story voice acted. More information about the story and requirements to submit are down below. Good luck! And please, do read the entire information if you consider auditioning for this project!
Outline:
Darcelle and Nox, two young celebrities who get to experience what is a romantic relationship, have to be aware of their surroundings, so no journalist could break the news into the world of them being an “item”. Still, many obstacles come into their way, little by little revealing to everyone the truth of what once was an innocent secret.
Extra details:
● The story will take place in modern times, and it will only have one season (approximately 20 episodes). Nevertheless, I hope to be in contact if there should be any sudden changes in the case of a sequel or spin-off.
● The genre of this story will be mainly romance and drama, so please do keep in mind that you (as a voice actor) may need to get out of your “comfort zone” to voice some given lines. I will expect full performance and dedication from your work. Also, this story may contain some sensitive topics (e.g questionable behaviors, experiences involving trauma, and violence) that may be hinted along the way (for obvious reasons, it won't be explicitly shown or said); so please do be warned.
● At the moment, there will be no sort of payment for any of these roles, so please understand before committing or expecting something in return. However, if the series gets enough attention for us to gain some sort of income, the cast will gain a fair percentage.
● You do not need to be a professional with tons of past experience or have the best equipment.
Jobs offered:
For this project, I will only need voice actors, since I'm going to take the role of director, story writer, and video editor. Another friend of mine is taking the role of co-writer, but she won't be needing to contact any of the VA's.
Requirements:
● You must have an overall clear quality of audio (preferably with no background noise at all), and without any sound effects. I’d rather hear a clean shot with no editing to evaluate in the best way possible.
● Discord is a must-have! That will be my way of communicating with you; in your audition's description, you must type your discord's username. Later on, I’ll also be asking for your Gmail (but by DMS, if you were cast).
● In your submission’s description, please write down your availability or at what time it is more convenient for you to work. Though it is highly suggested that you're available between 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm EST from Monday to Friday, and/or 11:30 am to 5:30 pm EST on Saturdays (still, that can be later discussed when we’re in contact).
● I will need full dedication and commitment if chosen; if you're not sure you will be able to finish the project or are deciding to quit before, do not audition. I do not wish to be taunted or waste time that could be used for this and other projects.
● There is no actual age limit, but it would be preferable if you were 14 or older (still, everyone is invited to audition!) This is more based on whether your voice fits with my characters; not your age. Nevertheless, there will only be a few (max. 2) characters that will need a childish voice, as for example, of an 11th to 13th y.o.
● If you do not meet all or any of the requirements, you will not be considered.
Other information:
● The deadline for this casting call will be June 20th, 2020.
● Voice actors can be cast for up to two roles.
● If you have any type of questions, feel free to message me; I’ll have no problems answering any of your doubts before/after you submit your audition. Just give me 24-48 hours to reply.
If hired:
● If you're cast as one of the voice actors, I'll be in contact, and will also add you to a discord group.
● Check your messages if I contact you. If you’re chosen for a role, but you do not contact me back within the first 72 hours (3 days) to officially claim it, I’ll have to offer the role to someone else.
● Please do not be toxic or mean to anyone while working, or in the discord group. I do not wish for any problems since I’m taking this project with all seriousness, and will not tolerate any kind of bad behavior (your position could be in danger if so).
● You have to be active (if there is a personal problem or you have a big inconvenience that can’t let you work for a period of time, please do inform me before it occurs).
● Turn your lines in time; that will be the most important rule you will need to follow apart from being active when needed. Head’s up, your lines will be due every three weeks (21 days) at the moment I give you the script (if the length changes, I may change the period of deadlines).
Plot and Storyline
Secret Love is a classic story of a couple who cannot reveal their feelings to the outside world, but also with many retellings of the past, and what is to expect later on. It takes place in a fictional world where not much is modified from our modern-time society. No fantasy or science-fiction elements are presented here whatsoever. It will only be focused on the difficulties of having a romantic relationship, and keeping it a secret from the media.
The story revolves around the lives of Darcelle and Nox, two known celebrities in the modeling and music industry, who’ve kept their relationship a secret for the past 7 months. Throughout all the obstacles they’ve had to pass to be together- not being discovered, acting discrete or as complete strangers to each other, among many other options; they’ve done a “good job” keeping their encounters out of the media, friends or family.
Then, when both of them want to take the next step of presenting each other to their families and making them an official couple to their close ones, many unexpected surprises from the past come back to once again “torture” what was left of Darcelle’s freedom. Now, Darcelle and Nox stopped “living on the edge” once the secrets they’ve made last for so long start to unravel beneath the eyes of all.
Darcelle is the primary protagonist of this story, who’s very realistic when analyzing situations, and can come off as entitled from others (even though she’s the opposite from it). She’s genuinely energetic only when interacting with fans or close people she knows (family, circle of friends, and her boyfriend). When feeling comfortable with her close circle of friends, she tends to tease them or do anything she can, with the purpose of making everyone happy; even at the expense of her own happiness. Because of her family’s fame and reputation, she easily became recognized in the media as a prominent model and actress, and later on, expanded her career quickly through various contacts. At the moment, she’s well known in both the modeling and film industries. Nevertheless, the “spark” that made her career shine was “the natural appearance of a doll she had”, as many journalists and fans would state.
The type of voice preferred for this character is a clear, casual voice that may sound sometimes cheerful. The accent for this character can be north-American, British, or a mix of both; this is because since she was raised in England, I want her voice to somehow be similar to what would be a British accent.
“(with a serious tone) Jokes aside, I think we’ll get caught rather soon at this point.”
“(in a casual tone) It was only my manager; Callie. She asked me if I felt good enough to attend tomorrow's breakfast with the girls.”
“(in an earnest tone) Oh yes! I saw the proposal your manager sent to mine. I was quite intrigued by the idea; sounds interesting enough. (short pause) Although, if we’re going to talk right now about such a thing, (somewhat lowers her voice) do you mind if we’d take this conversation elsewhere? This place is a little too crowded for that.”
Nox is the deuteragonist and the love interest of the protagonist in this story. He’s a very polite and diplomatic person, who tends to help anyone he can by giving them advice. Because of this, many people rely on him when they have problems. Still, this affects him since he doesn’t take his own advice when remembering or re-encountering with people from his past. Most of the time he keeps his composure unless there is a certain occasion or person who tries hard to provoke him with an incentive. He gets really emotional with his closed ones and values his family a lot. He is now a famous model and singer with a bright future ahead. Because he wanted to avoid all kinds of drama or speculations about his family (they’re from the medium/low-class), he kept all his past away from the media. Many magazines and journalists always tried to uncover and find about his family, yet they would never succeed.
The type of voice preferred for this character is a gentle soft voice; It would be preferable if he had a Canadian accent, but he doesn’t necessarily need it (optional).
“Oh- (in an enthusiastic tone) that’s my natural talent!”
“(sighs) You and your little head… (short pause, and then speaks in a more preoccupied tone) Hey, what happened back there with the hostess? ...Lilith, right?”
“(Giggles) Yeah, I guess so... (short pause) I’ll go through the back; that way nobody will notice. (somewhat teasing) What’ll be your excuse, princess~?”
Damien is an overconfident person who is always perceived by his fans as an “innocent angel”, when in reality he comes off as a rude double-faced person. He still keeps his composure to give the best first impression, but whenever someone tries to go against him, Damien can be “aggressive” when replying to any “enemies” of him. He feels to some extent entitled to the best life possible since he’s been “spoon-feed” everything until after his “teens”. Still, he can be quite obsessive without realizing (not because of any mental condition), and does not control his actions or temper when things don’t go “his way”. He’s well-known because of his achievements as a model, an entrepreneur, and for being in a relationship with Darcelle Creston years ago.
The type of voice preferred for this character is a somewhat grave bitter voice; he doesn’t necessarily need to have any specific accent.
“(bitter and aggrieved tone) We had a deal, you fool! What are you going to do? Run and hide? (short pause) You know I always get what I want...”
“(in an amused tone) You thought I only came for you..? (chuckles and then changes his tone into an apathetic tone) Oh, that’s so innocent.. (short pause) I’m sorry for bursting your bubble, sweetheart, but you aren’t that important to me..”
"My my~! I never thought you were the kind of girl who’d cheat on someone.. (then says in an apathetic, yet callous tone) Oh well, your loss.”
Khloe is an overall nice person, who is really emotional and trusts her friends over everything. She is really enthusiastic when it comes to anything, and never sees the bad in any occasion/situation. Khloe is a renowned model in the industry, who’s sweet to all people who interact with her. It should be noted that this character first starts as a supporting character, and then turns into one of the main antagonists.
The type of voice preferred for this character is a loud-loving voice; she doesn’t necessarily need to have a specific accent.
“(thrilled tone) Oh my~..! Is that a hottie I see? (then says in a sharp tone) Darcelle, stay here. (her tone turns somewhat excited/thrilled once again) I’ll be right back!”
“For your information, I don’t go chasing anyone; men chase me!”
“So it was all a lie… (short pause) You knew, and never said the truth to me. (starts to raise her voice, and somewhat starts yelling) Y-you kept lying to my face! How could you?! You were supposed to be my friend! (pause) I-.... (then her tone changes somewhat sharp) Just leave before I call security.”
Callie is quite calm and keeps her composure at all times. She never lets her emotions show, so many others depict her as an inexpressive person when it comes to friendship or love. Still, she only lets her preoccupation or fear show to others when there is any kind of trouble. She’s been serving the Creston’s family for over 10 years, and has become Darcelle’s assistant, manager, and representative since her career took off.
The type of voice preferred for this character is a hushed one; it would be much preferable if her accent were north-American.
“Then it’s decided; I’ll have to seek someone fit for this kind of position.”
“I’ll just be heading home for now; if you need anything, call me.”
“Well, you have been disappearing every now and then the scheduled meetings, so I think you don’t get a say in this. Either way, your mother already agreed with this idea.”
Tina’s been Darcelle’s and Khloe’s childhood friend since they attended the same high school. Unlike her two friends, Tina isn’t any sort of a celebrity or a famous person; she’s perfectly fine with her “normal urban life”, as she always says. She’s really casual and informal when interacting with others, and is very talkative.
The type of voice preferred for this character is a melodious medium-pitched voice; it would be much preferable if her accent were north-American.
“(says in a desperate complaining tone; needs to sound humorous) H-hey there! Hold it up, missy! What is this?! Stilettos, brand clothes, our own makeup artists-?! Dude, I eat the 7 dollar sandwiches for a living; not go on a Gucci shopping spree every Tuesday!”
“(in a depressing and preoccupied tone) Look Khloe, I know you had your heart set on this one, but you’ve got to let it go. If you stay in that path, it’s just going to get darker and darker; it may even cost you your friendship with Darcelle…”
Jeanne, mother of Darcelle and Fanya, has been rather cold towards them for the past 20 years they’ve been living together as a family. She can be quite controlling with her daughters, especially with her youngest daughter Fanya, in any aspects of their lives (social or love-life, among others). She’s a fashion icon since the early start of her career and has been one of the most renowned actresses of all time. She can be perceived by closed ones as a cold, “unemotional” and unsympathetic person. She only criticizes her daughter’s actions every time they make a small or big mistake.
The type of voice preferred for this character is an authoritative yet indifferent voice; it would be much preferable if her accent was a mix between British and/or north-American (it can also be either one of them).
“Is this what you call being “discreet”? (then emphasize the next line) Your face is plastered in all the news articles and magazines, sharing the story of your sudden affair..”
“And you are…? (pause) Well then, please do get out of my way before I make my guards do it for you. We wouldn’t want that, would we..?”
“It’s decided. And you can’t argue against my word; you’re coming back with me to London. You’ve made too much of a mess here; I knew it was a bad idea to let you go.”
Fanya is a model in “high demand”, who is controlled by her mother (Jeanne Creston) in every aspect of her life. She’s Darcelle’s sister and has been living in London her entire life. She’s very charismatic and is incredibly genuine and empathic with others. She’s extremely nervous when interacting with boys in general, because of past experiences she’s had.
The type of voice preferred for this character is a soft somewhat high-pitched voice: it would be much preferable if her accent were British.
“(trying to convince; in a persuasive tone) Hey, sis! We’ll go together to the Annual fall festival again, right? I had so much fun when we went to last year~... Please~? Pretty pretty please..~? Can we go..?”
“(she’s very terrified when speaking to boys/men, so be creative in what type of tone she should have when saying this line) O-oh… U-umm... Hey. I’m her sister, Fanya... It’s a p-pleasure to m-meet you… (short pause) I- I’m sorry… I think I- I need to go outside for a moment..”
Ed is a quiet person, who doesn’t fancy crowded places or big events. He's been a DJ and music composer for the past months, alongside his friend (who happens to sing his songs). Only when he knows someone well, he actually gets to communicate with them, since he prefers to have a rather small group of friends. Most of the time, instead of talking, he makes signs or hums when he wants to communicate with people he doesn’t know that much.
This character will be appearing a lot from the start of the series, but won’t actually say much until mid-season. The type of voice preferred is a somewhat dull and low-pitched voice, and he needs to speak slowly most of the time. For this character, try your best to give him any type of accent that is not north-American or British. It would be much preferable if it had an Italian/another foreign accent.
“(In a dull/inexpressive tone) excuse me; that’s my seat (short pause, then speaks in a fatigued tone), hmm. good.”
"(In a dull/inexpressive tone) Yummy; I’ve never tasted these muffins before, (short pause), what flavor are they..?”
Paul is a very charismatic and extroverted person, who never lacks energy. He’s very outgoing and a nice person who deeply cares for others. Even though he knows little of how the music industry works, he tries to perform the best way possible with his songs, alongside the composer (who happens to be his friend, Ed Mancini).
The type of voice preferred for this character is a loud energetic voice. For this character, try your best to give him any type of accent that is not north-American or British. It would be much preferable if it had an Italian/another foreign accent.
“(in an enthusiastic/energetic tone) Hey there! Nice to meet you! Will told me I’d be meeting you, but I thought it was a prank! Oh, by the way, I’m Paul, …. but I guess you already know that, hehe..”
"(in a somewhat melancholic tone) I know we haven’t met each other for long.. (then suddenly changes into a brighter tone) But remember! If you need anything at all, I’m always here to help!... That’s what friends are for, right..?”
Samuel is a very understanding and kind person, who is very discreet when it comes to keeping secrets or handling situations. He can be perceived as a non-talkative person by many, but he's actually pretty outgoing with his close circle of friends and known people. This character will be somewhat of a support and “mentor” also, towards the main characters of this story. He’s also Nox Willstone’s bodyguard/manager.
The type of voice preferred for this character is a grave firm one; he doesn’t necessarily need to have a specific accent.
“Well, back in the days, (says in an amused and/or impassioned tone) and ladies would fall for me quite hard~!... (sudden pause, then says in a humorous way) but now, not even the birds glance at me...”
“(with a respectful tone) If I may, sir; I believe even though you try hard to please others, you seem to not be satisfied with it. (says slower) It’s like you’d also want someone to be there for you; am I right?”
Russel is one of Darcelle Creston’s new bodyguards, who was instructed to accompany her at all times. He’s a very expressive and interactive person, who enjoys communicating with everyone he meets (he’s an extrovert). Still, he differs his work from his social life and tries to be as professional as he can. Even though he is supposed to be more of an obstacle/antagonist to the protagonist, he then acts as a supporting character to help Darcelle reach her goals.
The type of voice preferred for this character is a medium-pitched hard voice; he doesn’t necessarily need to have a specific accent.
“(in an amused/excited tone) Ooh~! Look at that puppy! So cute~! I wish I had one;(then says in a depressive tone) too bad my salary doesn’t allow it…”
“(in a regretful/depressive tone) I’m sorry miss, but we’re not allowed to let you leave this place. I wish I could help you, but unfortunately, Miss Roberts informed me that if anything out of the plan would happen, my position could be at risk..”
Liam is one of Darcelle Creston’s new bodyguards, who was instructed to accompany her at all times. He’s very quiet, and when speaking to anyone, he tends to be perceived as an inexpressive/dull person. He’s more of an “obstacle” to the protagonist’s goal than a simple antagonist, so he’ll be seen as an “antagonist”.
The type of voice preferred for this character is a total inexpressive or monotone voice low-pitched; he doesn’t necessarily need to have a specific accent.
“(in the most inexpressive tone) You’re not supposed to leave this room, miss. (pause) Miss Roberts and Miss Creston informed us that you should be in here until they come back from an important business meeting.”
“(in the most inexpressive tone) fine, we’ll not be 3 inches away from you; but we will be in a close range. That’s our task after all.”
Rose is a caring grandmother who took in Nox and Linnet when both their parents passed away. Since then, she became more of a mother for them, also making her the “mentor” of the story, and helping when she could, was her intention. She’s a very sweet and honest person, who always tries to advise her closed ones what could be the best option for them. She’s very open and cheerful with new people she meets, and never lets her emotions cloud her judgment. She becomes somewhat a “mother-figure” to the main characters and is very goofy when interacting with her family and friends.
The type of voice preferred for this character is a slow and mature, but gentle voice; she doesn’t necessarily need to have a specific accent.
“(says in a humorous/witty tone) Linnet, come back here! You’ve left your vegetables on the plate!”
“Well, hello there! (in a curious tone) Who may you be? (pause, then speaks surprised in a witty tone) O-oh!- Nox- didn’t you tell me you were coming with her next week?! I told you I needed to get things ready!”
"(giggles, then says) Oh dear, don’t you worry... He always does that. (small pause) now, tell me about yourself (in a more curious tone), how long have you two been together?”
Linnet, Nox’s young sister, is a very bubbly and cheerful girl who sees the bright side in all. She loves hanging out with her friends and her “nana” (Rose Willstone), but most of all, she adores when her brother visits her. She also is currently attending the last year of primary school (6th grade) and is 11 years old at the moment.
The type of voice preferred for this character is a high-pitched cheerful childish voice; it would be much preferable if her accent were north-American.
“(in a cheerful/excited tone) I had fun! I was hanging out with my friends at recess, and I learned something new in science. (pause, and then she speaks a little nervously) I also met this b-boy today... (her tone changes into a somewhat witty) BUT, I know! I can’t be with someone until I beat you in Speedy kart 4!”
“(in a humorous complaining tone) But nana~! You know I don’t like veggies; they’re gross!”
“(in a depressive tone) Nox, I have a question… are you ashamed of us? (short pause) it’s just that, whenever I see you in interviews or in the tv, you never mention us at all… Nobody doesn’t even know that I exist; that I’m your sister…”
Will has been Nox’s manager ever since Nox got into singing as a career. He always tries to help those in need and is empathic with others. He tends to be very meddling and curious when someone is keeping a secret from him and is the type of character that never loses energy to do a certain activity. Still, he is a perfectionist and a complete professional when it comes to handling his job.
The type of voice preferred for this character is a loud energetic medium-pitched voice; it would be preferable if his accent were north-American.
“(he’s desperate because of the bad quality the place he is in) No, no and no! This set cannot be used for anything! Not even the most mediocre director would run a music video here! This place needs to be perfect.”
“(be creative and portray the type of tone you think the character would use in this line) Ooh, who may you be talking to~..? (short pause) Augh, kill-joyyyyy… And I thought you’d be texting a hot chick or something.. (pause) Don’t you ever do anything else, apart from modeling and singing?!”
Michaelah is a popular singer, who is seen by her fans as more of an “idol” than an actual celebrity. Even though she is seen as an “adorable idol”, she actually comes off as a mean person, who treats everyone around her in the worst way possible. She also feels entitled to all, and doesn’t have in her vocabulary “no”. Her pride is the most precious thing for her, and when “attacked”, she can get out of control.
The type of voice preferred for this character is a bubbly, yet abrasive one; it would be much preferable if her accent were north-American.
“(in a demeaning tone) T-that’s not how you pronounce my name! I- (annoyingly sighs) whatever! Let’s just get this scene done with before you start irritating me more than what I’m already..”
“(in an impassioned/seductive tone) Hey there~... What’s your name?... (short pause) You know.., we can get a few drinks over there and just… (speaks in a sharp tone) talk; you know..?”
“(with a candid/honest tone) At first, she seemed like a nightmare. (short pause) No… More like a ghost. (then, says in a melancholic tone) Something I could see thrive, but could not do anything to make it fade… (pause) It’s kind of funny, you know...?”

“(in an enthusiastic-curious tone) And one last question (short pause), could you tell us about your secret beauty tips? Many of your admirers have been wondering for quite a while, and want to know how you’re always spectacular!”
