Project Overview

INTRODUCTION

Hiyya! I'm currently looking for voice actors for a Samurai Jack related project (and future projects related to it as well) that will involve original comic dubs and animations!

NOTE: These are fan projects made for fun! No pay will be involved.


WHAT TO EXPECT

As previously mentioned, I'm interested in pursuing comic dubs for pre-existing original comics I've already made, and for comics I will be making in the future, as well as animations, animatics, and other voice related work. 


- I will most likely be reaching out to more than one person to help voice a role, as there are multiple subprojects within this one (i.e more than one comic or animation) and I'd be more than happy to offer opportunities for people to showcase their voices!

As a follow-up for clarification, multiple different people can voice the same role, and dub over the same comic for example. I intend for these projects to serve and act as a showcase for those who I will be reaching out to!

Will only one actor be casted per role?

- No, I will be selecting multiple actors per role!


Can I audition for more than one/multiple roles?

- Absolutely!! I would LOVE to hear your range!! (And I honestly encourage you to try out for different characters if it's something you wish to do!)


Why are there multiple actors per role?

- I decided to do this because I wanted this project to showcase the work of different people and give them the opportunity to freely voice a character(s) they're interested in! Additionally, I wanted this project to help serve as a way for the participants to build up a variety of work they can use and include in their portfolios or demo reels!

Project System/Process Example

When a comic is finished:

1) Participants can volunteer to voice it if they're interested or available to at the time (I don't want you guys to feel pressured to voice anything and I want the project to cater to everyone's schedules and comfort <3) 

More than one person can volunteer to voice it at the same time, and I will be providing them with their own separate video(s) 

For example: 

For 1 comic, if 1 Jack actor and 2 Aku actors have volunteered to voice it at the same time (which is perfectly okay!), there will then 2 separate videos with the same Jack actor's lines, but voiced by 2 different Aku actors.


2) I may reach out to certain participants to voice a specific comic or subproject that are more suitable for them depending on what I need for it.

- This will most likely be a long-term ongoing project as I have no specific timeframe or deadline for its production to end yet.

However, this is not a full-time commitment and participants are welcome to stay or leave as they wish.

- These projects are very relaxed and casual, and are flexible towards your availability and comfort to work on them.

- Finished products will be uploaded to my YouTube channel and Instagram (and possibly shared on Twitter and the Samurai Jack subreddit as well)!


- Canon character roles are limited at the moment, but there will be more opened later on.

- There will be original characters involved as well and these roles will be made available for audition soon!

- If you need an extension for the deadline, let me know!

- Please feel free to message me if ever! I'm totally open to talking directly, however I may take some time to respond as I also have other projects and work to tend to! 


AUDITION & SUBMISSION NOTES

- First of all, have fun! I genuinely love this show with all my heart and I'm just here to enjoy and create more content for it with other people who share a similar interest for the show, or just want to be a part of this!

- Please have a decent quality mic! And if possible, please keep background noise to a minimum (or edit it out if you're able to)!

- When casted, files must be submitted in a .wav format.

- Multiple tries are welcome, and feel free to improvise or add lines as well in your auditions! 

- This is not at all a requirement and it won't really affect anything, but it is greatly appreciated and preferred that you have at least watched some clips of the show to be able to get a feel of the character(s) you'll be auditioning for!


COMMUNICATION

- Communication will be done preferably over Discord, but I'm open to correspond here on CCC as well!

  • [S5 Opening monologue] 

    (somber) Fifty years have passed, but I do not age. Time has lost its effect on me, yet the suffering continues. Aku's grasp chokes the past, present, and future. Hope is lost. Got to get back. Back to the past. Samurai Jack.

  • [Scene: Jack is severely injured and begins speaking to his Inner self]

    Inner Jack: (condescending, dismissive) You survived worse. This isn't about your pathetic little cut. It's about that girl you killed! 

    Inner Jack: We've never killed a human before, have we? Sure, mountains of robot corpses. But this? This was the first human being. Real flesh and blood. 

    Inner Jack: What happens when the others find you? You'll have to kill them, too. (taunting) Can you? 

    Inner Jack: Will you be able to when the time comes? Maybe they will kill you... Or is that what you want

    .

    (Optional)

    Inner Jack: (raised voice) Who cares anymore!? There's no way home! There's nothing to fight for! There's no more honor!

    Jack: Quiet.

    Inner Jack: (desperate anger) NO! I WON'T SPEND ETERNITY IN THIS FORSAKEN TIME!

  • (firm, but soft-spoken) You have chosen this path. Life works in strange and mysterious ways. Your choices have clearly led you here, as have mine. I will give you a new choice: Leave here now and live... 

    (serious) ...or stay and face your destiny.

    [the map is almost completely eaten by a goat and it's still chewing on it]

    Lud: [defeated; disappointed] Oh...

  • [has just blown a hole into Aku's tower]

    Lud: [furious] AKU! You un-GODLY MUPPET! Where is he?! What have you done to Jack?!

    [Jack and Lud have been travelling in a forest for days following a map, but Jack notices that they've been passing the same set of landmarks over and over ]
    Lud: [quiet anger] You can't be serious... [sharp inhale through clenched teeth] You mean to tell me... that we have been going around in circles for an ENTIRE day?

    Lud: [feeling faint] Oh good lord I'm done. [kneels and lies flat on back]

    Jack: Smith, what- what are you doing?

    Lud: [deadpan] Jack my friend, I am waiting for the earth to reclaim me. Care to join?

  • Perhaps our paths have crossed for a reason. (chuckles) I mean...  what are the odds of us coming across each other on so many different occasions? 

    Is chance truly to blame? (pauses, smiles) 

    (hushed but excited voice) Or is it fate, my good fellow?

  • [Opening Monologue of S1-S4]

    Long ago in a distant land, I, Aku, the shape-shifting Master of Darkness, unleashed an unspeakable evil!

    But! A foolish samurai warrior wielding a magic sword stepped forth to oppose me.

    Before the final blow was struck, I tore open a portal in time, and flung him into the future, where my evil is law!

    Now the fool seeks to return to the past, and undo the future that is Aku!

  • [Aku is talking to himself]

    He is stronger than I remember...but no matter. For you see, little samurai, the world is mine! My eyes and ears are everywhere. Nothing you do will go unseen. 

    Quest as you may, but we will meet again when I see fit in a time and place of my choosing. And it is I who shall put an end to the war started in that age long past... SAMURAI JACK! [evil laughter]

  • [Aku has just deceived Jack by taking on the form of a person jack had come to trust]

    Yes, samurai. I knew you would find it. (mockingly)  "Oh, my poor father trapped in a ring of fire by mean, old Aku."

    (blinks his eyes and cackles evilly) Fool!

  • [Jack says that Sasha is a product of Aku's darkness]

    (very offended, insulted and furious)

    How DARE you compare me to that wretch!! HE was the one who imprisoned me in the first place!

    But now... thanks to you... I can finally remind him of his biggest mistake. 


    (scoffs, smiles)

    Believing he could get rid of ME.  

    (rising evil laugh/cackle)

    (hushed, excited) Tell me, Jack. How has the world been while I was away?

    You BANISHED me to this godforsaken prison for decades!! 

    (betrayed; opt. trembling voice) I trusted you with my life and yet... (rising yell) ...you were the one who robbed me of it!

    [Jack scowls a bit] Oh, there it is, babe. The world famous scowl. Well, come on, Sammy baby, whip it out! You know what I'm talking about. That cra-a-azy sword. Let's get slicin' and dicin', swingin' and bashin', hackin' and slashin', babe!

    [notices something off] Wait, back off a sec there, beardsly. [points down to Jack's waist] Where...is your sword? Huh? I don't see it. Oh? [chuckles some] No, no, no, no, NO, babe! Don't tell me. You lost...your sword? 

    [snorting laughter] Okay, Jacky baby, you just make with the scowl while I make with the phone and call up Aku. [he gets out his phone and makes beep sounds while dialing for Aku]

    (Laughs) You're just a big baby! Why don't you go cry to your mama?
