Psychological Horror Game [Short, Paid]

Psychological Horror Game [Short, Paid]

Project Overview

This is the third game we publish on this site and it's probably also the last project of ours for a while. This is for a game/interactive experience in the field of psychological horror, where the main character experiences a series of bizarre and trippy events. This particular game has no restrictions on nationality/accent so anyone can audition. It's quite short and is expected to be out before the end of the year. The game itself will more than likely be free (potentially with some "deluxe" paid version, or at least a "pay what you think it's worth" kind of deal), but we're still willing to pay the voice actors. Its main purpose is to work as a teaser of sorts for the larger scale games coming out next year.

This is for a moderately large role. The character is an actor who's transitioned to work at a popular radio station due to his popularity with certain audiences. His career as an actor isn't necessarily dead in the water, but he's taken somewhat of a hiatus, probably due to somewhat declining viewership. As the story is generally warped, some lines have him being a douchey radio announcer/actor, but some are a bit more creepy and "off".  We put one of each in the audition script.

As usual, we want realistic readings. This is not so much a typical game as an interactive drama, so the character should be interesting but never OTT and "fake".

  • [on the air] It’s another cozy Friday Night here at CoolStation. I'm your host, John Samuels, and I bid you all welcome to "Wacky Tales", where we ask viewers like YOU to share stories from YOUR life. Nothing is too wacky or zany for this show, so just....spill your Hearts out, people! Well, unless you're a crybaby cause, we don't serve your kind here! Like that like that bartender guy in Star Wars? Remember that line? Anyway, I'm JUST KIDDING! Crybabies are welcome too. After all, isn't there a little crybaby in all of us?

  • [to a co-worker in another room, separated by a glass wall, more low-key, slightly creepy vibe]

Hey you...[knocking on glass wall] the girl behind the glass. Look over here. There you go. Sarah, right? Wait! Don't say anything...I'm really good at reading people....their body language, all that stuff, learned it at Groundlings. And the vibe I'm getting from YOU is....[somewhat more creepy, while still friendly] that you don't seem to like me very much, Sarah. Guess you never saw any of my movies, huh?

This character is in a part of the game that involves a cooperative puzzle and a system where people vote out other competitors, similar to the show Survivor and other such game show, except with higher stakes.  Natural reading, accent doesn't matter (just use your most natural one), and age is around 20s or 30s.

  • [not angry as much as acting like a smart ass, not very energetic or upset] Well fine, then next time YOU try to guess what it is. Yeah, so I tried. I stuck my neck out and...I was wrong. At least I did something. Do you plan to just stand there doing nothing? There's a time limit, you know. Didn't you hear the "game master" or whatever he calls himself? He said that we had to do this "swiftly". Is this your definition of "swift"?

  • [to female competitor, very slightly flirtatious, mildly threatening but not angry, still somewhat friendly] You seem to be pretty good at making enemies here. But you DO know that...well, that you're way more likely to be voted out of this thing if you keep being difficult. So maybe, just maybe, it's a good idea to....lighten up. Act a bit more friendly and stop being so...."mopey" or whatever because, you know what? I don't WANT to have to vote for you next time, but...I probably will unless you start acting a little nicer to me from now on.

  • [voting for someone] Ok so....I will be voting for....Bob this time. Sorry man, but I just....I don't know, I think you're sort of stupid. If that makes sense. So I don't think you deserve to win cause....[slight snicker] well cause you're dumb. I mean, that's really the reason. I don't know what else you want me to say, sorry.

Woman, late 20s, early 30s, participating in a peculiar game show that ends up devolving into a SAW-like situation of life and death (meaning the movie Saw, but also with a voting system, a bit like Survivor). This script will have profanity, distasteful/violent elements and other potentially triggering situations (though no sexual content of any kind), so please only apply if you feel comfortable with that.  Thanks!

  • I don't give a shit about any of this, OK? I just want the money. I NEED the money. I don't care about WHY he's doing this. I don't care about what kind of sick...fantasies he has or any of that. So please, can we just get all this over with and get out of here?

  • [suspicious, to female competitor, pretty low-key] So, have you been talking to anyone? About the vote? Because you know that everyone else is, right? They are all probably...gossiping. Trying to gang up on us. I can tell. We should decide. Right now. Who we should both vote for. Because otherwise, it could be you or me next!

  • You know what? Screw you, you backstabbing bitch! [more cynical, slight chuckle]  Well, you know what? They are coming for YOU next! Yes, they're all gonna pick you next, and that's what you fucking deserve! They're probably all laughing at you right now because you did EXACTLY what they wanted!
