Project: Zeta

Project Overview

Overview:

Project: Zeta is the culmination of a dream that began in 2019 when three close friends from the games and entertainment industry embarked on a journey to create a groundbreaking new intellectual property. With storytelling, interactivity, and audience engagement as its guiding principles, the project has been in full production in Unreal Engine 5 since 2022 and is scheduled for release in Q1 2024.

The Universe of Project: Zeta:

Project: Zeta unfolds within an intriguing and distinctive science fiction universe. It explores the timeless theme of the universe versus humanity, delving into our capacity to overcome insurmountable cosmic forces, the challenges of rebuilding, and the ethical complexities that arise when the desire to do good becomes a blinding and corrupting force.

Casting Call:

For this casting call, we are searching for actors to bring to life two major roles and one reoccurring role, all of which are pivotal to the core narrative of Project: Zeta. We are exclusively considering voice actors who are ready to commit to these roles for the long term. This production specifically will be in a 2D narrative format taking place between one of our main characters and a reoccurring character that will serve as the intro and "stage setting" for our story and current world-state.

Important Notes:

  • The names of characters, locations, and events mentioned in this casting call are not indicative of final assets or story elements. These are provided to give auditionees a sense of the characters' essence and the overarching tone of the project.

  • While we welcome demo reels, we are particularly interested in hearing your unique interpretation of the characters. Show us how you can make these roles your own, and let your creativity shine.

  • We want to emphasize our unwavering commitment to voice actor rights and privacy. We will never use your voice in any context or project without obtaining the necessary permissions and approvals. Your voice is your own, and we respect your ownership of it.

Character Description:

  • Character Name: Dr. Wyllan Orn

  • Gender: Male

  • Age: 40-60 years

  • Ethnicity: Black/African Descent

Character Background:

A man with a rich history, Dr. Orn is a lifelong friend of Titus Rook and a former soldier with a profound thirst for knowledge. Over the years, he evolved into a once-in-a-generation intellect, accumulating multiple honors and becoming an expert in various fields. Years ago, Dr. Orn attempted to prevent a catastrophic event, partially succeeding in averting the worst, but not without heavy losses. The cataclysm left the planet heavily damaged, and Titus Rook, his dear friend, suffered the loss of his only child and wife. Following the disaster, Dr. Orn secluded himself within the Sigma towers, dedicating years to finding a solution to the cataclysm's aftermath.

Five years later, Dr. Orn emerges from his isolation, unveiling his solution to the world. However, the general population fails to see beyond the surface of this creation, leading to scrutiny of both Dr. Orn and the Sigma organization for seemingly wasting five years and billions of resources.

In the opening cinematic, Dr. Orn makes a rare public appearance for an interview with the Interviewer, intending to recount the events leading up to the cataclysm. However, he is unexpectedly cut off by the Interviewer's leading questions. As the pressure mounts, his hand begins to tremble. Suddenly, a worldwide broadcast interrupts their segment and the sight he sees on screen restores his hope for humanity.

Despite his age, Dr. Orn maintains a muscular and strong physique, a testament to his unwavering discipline in both physical and mental pursuits. He is a compassionate individual who would readily give the shirt off his back and sacrifice himself to save others. The events of the past few years have briefly estranged him from Titus Rook, but they remain lifelong friends. Dr. Orn carries the heavy burden of accountability for the loss of Titus' family.

Dr. Orn also plays a father figure role to our main character and their handler, Rayna. He is a central character in the story, and the actor selected for this role should be prepared to commit to it for an extended period.

Audio Quality Requirements:

Project: Zeta has always set a high bar for our productions from art, to character models, our environments, music, etc. Our standard for quality extends especially to our voice actors. While we do have an audio engineer on staff, their focus needs to remain on AFX and sound design. For someone to be considered for this role, they will need excellent audio quality, and be able to send both a raw source and edited version of their audio.

Role Commitment:

This is a long-term role, and we are looking for a committed actor who can dedicate themselves to the character's development over the course of the series. Dr. Orn's role will evolve and become increasingly central to the storyline as the project unfolds.

Doctor Valerie, It is precisely the lack of error on your report that gives me caution. Please, I’d like you to prepare another unbiased analysis for confirmation before I inform the council.”

  • [Context: Rayna is a coworker and is like a daughter to Dr. Orn. They’re socializing over drinks after a particularly difficult day at work. In a soft, somber tone, unlike his usual verbose voice, he says the following line giving off his steadying, shining smile, all the while fighting back weary tears of his own.] “Something I was told a lifetime ago, Rayna – always look to the stars before you cry. Somehow, the celestials bring our sorrows into perspective-”

  • [Context: Dr. Orn is conversing with Titus Rook confidentially in his lab after presenting to the Council. The news is dire, and Dr. Orn can be candid and open about his fears.] “I hope I made a promise I can keep. The odds aren’t in our favor here, and if I had a choice— I just don’t know, I wish we had more time.”

Character Description:

  • Character Name: Titus Rook

  • Gender: Male

  • Age: 50-60 years

  • Ethnicity: White/Caucasian

Character Background:

Titus Rook is a man of unwavering principles, placing honor, family, and legacy at the forefront of his life. In his earlier years, he served as a soldier alongside his close friend, Dr. Wyllan Orn, and their bond became as strong as that of brothers. After the war, Titus ventured into the business world, founding a mega-corporation known as Sigma. The company later rose to dominance in the fields of medical technology, space exploration, and more. Additionally, Titus designed and constructed his magnum opus, Helios City, which would eventually become the capital of his country.

Titus Rook is widely regarded as a humanitarian, a brilliant businessman, and the epitome of a servant leader. His dedication to his family, friends, and the betterment of humanity is unquestionable.

Years later, when a cataclysmic event threatened the planet, Titus took on a pivotal role. He established a global council that united the five major continents for the first time in centuries, reluctantly accepting the position of President of the council. Under his leadership, the council tasked Sigma and Dr. Wyllan with preventing the cataclysm within a tight timeframe. Although they achieved partial success in saving the planet from total destruction, it came at a heavy cost, with hundreds of thousands of lives lost, including his wife and child. Titus continued to serve as President, leveraging his company's resources and personal wealth to mend the planet and address numerous crises, including a resource shortage. We first meet Titus five years after these events where he has ended his term as President and returned to Sigma the year before to take the reigns.

Behind his charming and charismatic facade, Titus conceals profound depression, exhaustion, and sorrow. He carries the weight of the world on his shoulders, a burden he chose to bear. Only in the presence of Dr. Orn does he allow his guard to slightly come down, revealing a fraction's fraction of the exhaustion and pain that lies beneath the surface.

Additional Notes:

For Titus' voice, despite his gray hair he is not an old man. We are looking for a voice that can convey a politician, an inspiring businessman and leader, but also capable of being in extreme exhaustion and depression.

  • [Context: Titus Rook is addressing his company as the charming and charismatic CEO that he’s well known for. His speech comes at a time when hope and encouragement is gravely needed.] “We’ve always faced the trials that history has thrown at us *together* with the ferocity of a thousand stars banded as one to illuminate a narrow way to victory. We will do so again! I’m proud to call you all archons of our future and champions of our past.”

  • [Context: Titus is in his office with only Dr. Orn present. He is less guarded when in a private setting with his old friend and confidant. He looks out the window as he addresses Dr. Orn, revealing how truly tired and frail he has become with the stress weighing heavily.] “I cannot change what I cannot confront, Wyllan. The unknown scares me most. And so, if you are preambling this much— Just please old friend, tell me what you’ve found.”
