Phantasm of Puyo

Phantasm of Puyo

Project Overview

Summary

Project P.O.P. (working title) is a fan animation series of two Japanese video game franchises (Puyo Puyo & Touhou). It is comedy focused. Each episode is relatively short, we’re aiming for 2-8 minutes of runtime. The vast majority of characters are female of varying personalities.

Payment

This is a more of a passion project, and as we currently do not have any funding or support we’re working unpaid. That being said, I want to compensate voice actors for the value of their work.

  • Payments are per script/per episode

  • Payment a minimum of $45 to a maximum of $100 for now, depending on the amount of roles, length of the script, quality, etc.

  • Initial payment 50% at the beginning of recording, and the next half is paid after work is finalized.

You will receive proper credit.

Requirements & Expectations

    What is asked

  • No prior experience required, feel free to audition

  • Decent mic, it must sound clear, however we can do any noise reduction and post processing.

    Working

We may do live rehearsals to guide the voice direction and delivery. The time spent during these practice sessions will be factored into the payment.

There are many characters of various vocal qualities. You will be practicing for multiple roles and be selected for the ones you are best suited for.

Deadline

Casting will likely be ongoing for a while. The deadline posted (about mid-November) is when I expect me to wrap up the first episode. Work is going smoothly, though as production becomes more predictable more questions can be answered.

About Us

Some Guys in a Room are just a couple of guys doing whatever we want. We go by aliases Dreamer: who has a background in graphic design is the artist, animator, a voice actor and editor, and Creamer: who has a background in music and audio.

Latest Updates

  • Big Update

    Hey Actresses/Applicants,

I have a lot to go over in this update.

    About the deadline

as some of you may know, the deadline for the audition is approaching soon. I set the deadline to a semi-arbitrary date of November 15, because I was roughly estimating when I would end up wrapping up the animation.

That deadline isn't set in stone and never really was meant to be, things have slowed down as I've become inundated with everything that isn't P.O.P. including a conference I will be preparing for.

So what I am waiting for

Progress is going well!👍There are many things I need to take care of before we can actually cast roles.

We have already listened to and reviewed every applicant. There doesn't seem to be any new auditions coming as the project was unlisted in search mid-October. Additionally we haven't received any more requests to schedule live auditions, but we are waiting to get back recordings from two actresses to review.

There's a lot more practical work to be done before recording is useful, so there isn't an urgent need to cast soon.

    How casting will work

Firstly, for the scope of the first episode we are casting for four main roles-- At least we were until now. Immediately after we finish the first episode work will already have began on the second which introduces even more new roles that have to be filled so rather than creating a new listing we will most likely pick from the many auditions we have received to fill those roles.

That will be a separate process and certain things will be done differently for those roles which we will explain at a later date.

For now, the four roles for the first episode will be the focus of the casting. We have already started the internal process of organizing, all of you are great so it will be a pretty close call in the end, we'll know probably as soon as you do.

    What you're looking out for

There will be an announcement of the casting within our Discord, and an official announcement on our Discord post-production in case there are any last minute changes. To those who are casted for the first episode we will message you privately through the most convenient means beforehand.

So please pay attention to that, your email/messages because that will be important to look out for.

To those who aren’t casted for the first episode, we may cast or ask you to audition for roles introduced in the second episode or beyond. We aren’t likely to put up another listing, and fewer will even respond to that ,so it’s a good opportunity if you’re wanting to get in.

    Thank you for your time,

    Dreamer

  • Further Auditions...

    WOW! You guys are great!

We have listened to and discussed all of the submissions so far. Because you guys are excellent and bring something unique we want to have a live audition before we officially cast.

What that looks is a short informal voice session between over a Discord call, most likely. I wanted to do this after we casted all the roles, but it seems this step is becoming necessary.

It's not required but it will definitely help you in the selection. I also appreciate enthusiasms so if you're interested please message me anytime so we can set up a date.

    Thanks! - Dreamer
