Project Overview

Setting and Style
The game takes place in an unspecified era of medieval history and takes place in England.

Requirements
For this project, we strongly prefer actors who are native English speakers from England. We also need the actors to have access to their own high-quality recording equipment (meaning no plosives and little to no background sound, with clear (non-compressed) vocals. Also, we always keep pointing this out, since the word "game" draws immediate associations to cartoon voices and "zany" characters - this is not that kind of game. The readings should be realistic and down-to-earth. Most of the time, less is more, and we want the actor's natural voice for most of these roles, not any kind of put-on accent and no goofy or otherwise silly voices. What we do want is a good naturalistic performance that seems convincing.

Compensation
All our roles are paid roles, but the compensation varies depending on the role and its requirements.

Will I be credited?
We always credit all our actors. We also have a reasonably large following online, so while we're not trying to pay you "in exposure", there will undoubtedly be some exposure that should prove useful to voice actors.

  • New role up / Reaching the end of this CC

    Hello everyone! Once again, we'd like to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to audition for this project. We understand that every audition takes time and effort on your part, and we loved seeing how many of you really gave their best and provided us with many interesting takes on the roles. We have yet another role up on the project page for Knight #4 (young adult male), which is a large, important role. There won't be many more after this, possibly one more, and then we'll make the casting decisions for the roles. We will be posting new casting calls and opportunities to CCC in the future as well.   • (malicious gossip) I've heard it said around court that the king no longer loves his wife. That he's found...alternate ways to keep himself occupied. Far be it from me to actually entertain such slander. I just thought I should mention it....since that's what people say.

Young nobleman conspiring against the king.

  • (impatient, somewhat secretive) He will bring this entire kingdom down with him. And I, for one, will not stand by and see that happen. Now, are you all with me? Are you ready to do what must be done, so we can rid ourselves of this useless tyrant once and for all?

  • I've sworn loyalty to two things and two things only. My first loyalty is to myself, and my second loyalty is to.... (under his breath) (slight snicker) hmm I forgot the other one. But enough of such trifles.

Arrogant viscount at court.

  • (arrogant, out of touch) I wanted this castle to be dressed up from floor to spire, in honour of our noble family and in remembrance of the many brave knights who gave their lives for our cause! But you've gone and used entirely too many shades of purple, and it's ruined my mood quite frankly. 

  • (arrogant, out of touch) I know better than anyone how many poor and needy exist in this kingdom. And that is exactly why I DON'T need to see them standing here before me, ruining this scrumptious banquet.

This is a small role with very few lines.  The character is 35-40ish.

  • [slight chuckle] Your father won't be coming to your rescue. We struck him down like the dog that he was, and impaled his traitorous head on a spike, so that everyone may witness what happens when one betrays a king!

  • [slightly indignant, but not loud or too angry] You heathens never learn. I was chosen by God the Almighty himself to bring this kingdom under His fold, and still....you defy me? Your father has already paid the price. [louder, angrier] Do you wish to follow him down to the fires of hell?!

Relatively large role. The character is in his 20s. The lines are somewhat over the top but must be realistically delivered and not parodic.

  • [slight snicker, sarcastic, not overly concerned] Everyone already knows that the Queen is a harlot. I even saw it with my own eyes once - I saw her fornicating with a disgusting French peasant. [upon hearing an objection] What did you say, dear brother? Why WOULDN'T we discuss it? Why not speak plainly about things that even a fool would know?

  • [sigh] My brother is such a frightful bore. I can scarcely believe we're related. In fact...perhaps we're not completely related. I wouldn't be surprised, what with all our mother's whoring around. Maybe he's a bastard. It's quite possible. Or maybe I'm a bastard, I don't even know anymore. But I think he's the bastard.

  • The king is ruining the spirit of this entire kingdom. Jousting with blunted lances?  We might as well go watch the ladies at their sewing. At least the needles are sharp! [under his breath] And probably more deadly too.

Native English (British) speakers strongly preferred. This is for the role of an advisor which will be fairly large.

  • (answering a question from a young king about why there are so many poor in the kingdom)
    Certainly, My liege. And I shall answer this question by way of rhyme.

    The poor are like a cloud that lingers in the skies.
    Except the cloud yields booming thunder and the poor yield angry cries.
    But if you turn your back on them and ignore all of their hate.
    They'll soon be rendered powerless and just....dissipate.

  • (spoken to someone perceived as a competitor for the king's attention, annoyed)
    You think you have the king's ear, but make no mistake. I'm in control of this kingdom and you're treading on dangerous ground. We both know the king is young and susceptible. But you yourself are no less naive if you think that you can usurp my position here.

  • (angry)
    Kill the child. Don't you see? If a single one of them lives it will be a threat to us all! We finally have peace, do you want to take us back to the brink of civil war!? Kill her, I said!

This is for a major supporting character with a lot of dialogue. Payment can be adjusted upward if the lines end up being even more than planned. This character has a mix of likable and unlikable traits, and we need someone with good range. As always for this project, we prefer English accents by English/UK actors.  Make sure to observe notes in brackets.

  • [spoken to a female character, love interest/partner in crime of sorts. sincere, understanding/heartfelt, but with a slight sarcastic edge when the lines call for it] What happened to your father was a despicable act. But is that really the only reason why you'd like to see the entire kingdom burn? Now don't me wrong. I know revenge can be a powerful...motivator. I'd be the last person to hold it against you. But would you stop at just revenge? Or is it the throne you're after? That too, I could understand. But...we must be honest with one another.

  • [spoken to a female character, love interest/partner in crime of sorts, suspicious, not uncontrolled anger, but rather controlled/calm annoyance]

    Have you been talking to my brother? [slight snicker] Yes...I know you have, don't try to deny it. Well, whatever he has told you about me, I hope you know better than to listen to his fanciful tales. His mind is constantly addled....confused. A family trait. [more light-hearted, as if thinking to self] Not sure why I wasn't afflicted with it, come to think of it. [as an aside, not too comical] Being this...sane can be rather exasperating.


  • [angry, holding someone up against the wall]

    I always knew you were a traitor! Now go back to my brother, and warn him....that either he surrenders, or I'm coming for him next. Go on....run and tell him [losing patience Or would you rather me to send him your severed head as a warning instead!?
