Persona 5 Comic Dub

Persona 5 Comic Dub

Project Overview

Hello and welcome to my first casting call! I love the game Persona 5 and I had been wanting to do a comic dub for a while,  and then I saw an awesome comic on Twitter. I have the artist's permission and now I'm here to look for fellow voice actors!

I'll be adding roles as needed till I have a group of reliable voice actors, for now I'm just looking for a Ryuji, Akira, and Morgana.

Please have:

-Good quality sound

-Working microphone and possibly a pop filter

-Twitter, Discord, or email

-Be committed to doing multiple comic dubs

-And above all, have fun with the lines! -

This comic dub is about Morgana getting put into a costume by Akira and Ryuji and he's not to happy about it till Ann comes along.

Thank you to everyone who auditionied, when the first comic dub comes out (when I get time to edit) I'll be sure to post an update with the link to it! Till then, thanks again! :)

  • Critiquing, New Deadline, and Casting

Okay, I just wanted to say that I finished critiquing all current auditions as of now! I hope none of my words came across harshly, I just want to help other voice actors grow. As for the deadlines for any auditions you may want to redo, the deadline is 4pm Sunday Central Time. By no means are you forced to redo your auditions, only if you feel the need too. Casting will be announced on Sunday or Monday, and I do have auditions from other sources than CCC, so it may take me a little bit to get through the auditions and decide who will be cast, please have patience. That being said, there will be both a primary VO and a backup cast for the role. I wish everyone the best of luck.

Role assigned to: allen the ultimate gamer

  • Background: He originally came from a household with an abusive father, which caused him and his mom to move away. Later on, Ryuji got a great opportunity for his future and to ease his mother's burden by becoming a star athlete on the school's track team. However, this earned disdain from the volleyball coach, Suguru Kamoshida, who then abused Ryuji and the entire track team. To put more salt in the wound, Kamoshida began telling everyone at Shujin about Ryuji's parents. This caused Ryuji to try and attack Kamoshida but in a manner of "self-defense" broke Ryuji's leg and caused the track team to disband. He meets Akira when Akira transfers to Shujin and when they both discover their personas while stopping Kamoshida from abusing the volleyball team.

  • Personality: known as a “problem student” at school, he’s mischievous, always ready for an adventure, short-tempered, takes offense easily, and speaks before thinking, but he’s also kind, cares deeply about his mother, and cares about others, especially if they’re hurt or being buse.

  • Background: main character or protagonist of Persona 5. One night he sees a drunk man basically trying to rape a woman, Akira saves her by slightly pushing the man who falls and hurts himself. Since he’s a politician, he makes the woman lie about what happened, and sues Akira. In the process his parents agree to have him live somewhere else for a year while he’s on probation, he ends up living with Sojiro Sakura (a friend of his parents) in Yongen-Jaya and going to school as a transfer student at Shujin Academy.

  • Personality: in the game, he doesn’t talk much, but everyone admires, listens, and trusts him as the leader of the Phantom Thieves, he’s also quite confident, straightforward, and honest to others.

Once back in the real world, Morgana finds them at Shujin Academy and they agree to help him find his memories in the depths of Mementos, if Mona will help them stop Kamoshida from abusing the volleyball team. Mona believes that he’s actually human.

  • Personality: Has a huge crush on Ann(calls her Lady Ann) even though she doesn’t take him seriously, acts confident but has little faith in himself and secretly dreads being abandoned and left alone, he tends to mew when nervous or excited, is a bit of a control freak, and fears being replaced.

Role assigned to: JonRobertsVA

  • Background: Yusuke’s mother dies when Yusuke is three years old, due to the fact that Madarame let her die from a seizure. Yusuke never knew his father and is soon taken in by Madarame because he wants to make sure that no information gets out that might damage his reputation and also that he’d be able to steal Yusuke’s mom’s painting Sayuri, which was of a woman holding her baby(AKA Yusuke’s mom and him). Yusuke develops art abilities all on his own and shows promise in becoming an art prodigy, so Madarame takes him as an apprentice. When the Phantom Thieves(Ann, Ryuji, Akira, and Morgana) meet him he wants Ann to be his model for his next piece, they use this to their advantage because of a tip they had got about an artist who abuses and steals his students and apprentices’ artwork, which ends up being Madarame. Eventually, after Morgana breaks into Madarame’s art room/safe in his house with tons of copies of Sayuri and other works that they eventually find out are stolen as well, Yusuke accidentally ends up in Madarame’s palace with the Phantom Thieves. He discovers that Madarame has been stealing his students’ artwork for a longtime, has created anything new in a longtime, is greedy, only cares about fame, and the truth about what happened to his mother. He then unlocks his persona Goemon and defeats Madarame with the Phantom Thieves, and joins the Phantom Thieves.

  • Personality: At a glance he is a collected and composed individual, but is really still trying to figure out how the world works. Yusuke acts with poise and elegance, displayed by his eloquent, poetic way of speaking. He is able to remain calm even in dire circumstances, but can also act dramatically at times; others have pointed him out as weird, and even Yusuke admits that he can be seen as eccentric. He is very honest and expresses his emotions and is quick to call people out when they’re wrong, even if it hurts their feelings. Having been unhealthily sheltered for most of his life, Yusuke acts with pure intentions, but ultimately is unaccustomed to many of society's norms. The naïveté born from it shows more times than not, in particular being unaware when he is coming off as intrusive until directly told.

  • Background: Growing up her father was a police officer killed in the line of duty while investigating a gang (if I remember right, he was hit by a vehicle that the gang had hired), leaving Makoto’s sister, Sae, to take care of the both of them. Sae graduates high school and becomes a lawyer and supports the both of them as she tries to survive in a career dominated by men and men that don’t want her there, making her competitive, selfish, stressed, and tired all the time. Makoto studies to make sure that she can go to a good university and get a job that’ll relieve her sister of the burden of taking care of her. She’s the student council president and as the Phantom Thieves become more and more of a problem the principal makes her investigate at the school or he won’t write her a letter of recommendation and will tell her sister that she’s failed her investigation. Eventually, after tailing who she suspects are the Phantom Thieves, she confirms her suspicions when Ryuji shouts that they’re the Phantom Thieves in an area where they meet frequently, the vending machines. Instead of handing this information over the principal, she has them prove their justice by having them reform an unknown mafia boss who has been extorting many students around Shibuya including those go to Shujin Academy. If they can complete the task, she will not expose their identities to anyone. Deep down, Makoto actually approves of the thieves and believes her father would think the same way. She decides to prove her usefulness to the group by purposely acts as bait into the mafia so that the gang can follow behind. Once there, Kaneshiro (the mafia boss) takes photos of the group being merely present in his adult-exclusive nightclub for blackmail material. He demands 3 million yen within 3 weeks for the photos which will ruin their reputations if leaked. The team (composed of Yusuke, Akira, Ryuji, Ann, and Morgana) takes Makoto with them to Kaneshiro’s palace (a floating-bank) there she’s confronted by Shadow Kaneshiro who taunts her by revealing his plan to extort her sister. Angered and disgusted by Kaneshiro, Makoto awakens her Persona, Johanna, and decides to join the Phantom Thieves.

  • Personality: Perfectionist, responsible, comes across as strict, intelligent, honest and very hardworking. In truth, she is a very compassionate and understanding young lady who works hard to make sure everyone is accounted for. Makoto suffers from an inferiority complex as she feels that her older sister, Sae Niijima, is far more remarkable than she is. The pressure put on her by the Principal of Shujin Academy to find the Phantom Thieves as well as her older sister who accidentally blurts out that she is a burden causes Makoto to devalue herself even more, especially when she fails to produce the results they are looking for. As a result, she becomes increasingly more reckless, with little regard for her own safety, all in the attempt to show that she is useful and dependable. As a Phantom Thief, Makoto gradually gains self-confidence, ultimately becoming a more well-rounded person by the game's conclusion. As quickly discovered when she becomes a Phantom Thief, Makoto has a great deal of suppressed anger which leaks out during her fights, unleashing a very brutal method of fighting.

Role assigned to: Chloe Eves

  • Background: Futaba’s mother was murdered two years ago for her research on the cognitive world (AKA the world the Phantom Thieves visit) and her killer(s) wanted to keep her research so they distracted Futaba’s family with a forged suicide note from Wakaba (her mother) blaming her death on Futaba and causing an uproar in the family. Futaba was passed around from family member to family member and was yelled at, blamed, called a monster, and was treated as a nuisance (especially by her uncle her barely kept her alive). By the time Sojiro Sakura (a friend of Wakaba) stepped in and took custody of  Futaba the emotional and psychological trauma was very deep. Two years went by and Futaba didn’t say much to Sojiro, she was quiet, and Sojiro would get her whatever she wanted and waited for her to hopefully open up to him. Futaba has depression, social anxiety, and choose to isolate herself from the world, only contacting the world through the internet to do online classes (I think) and be a hacker as the original-founding-hacker of Medjed. She leaves Medjed and other hackers take over the group then Medjed declares war against the Phantom Thieves. Futaba reveals herself as Alibaba, a hacker, and tells them she’ll help them if they steal her heart. Eventually they meet her at Sojiro’s house and enter her palace to steal her heart and later on she enters her palace as well. With the help of her Shadow self so remembers what actually happened and awakens her Persona and helps defeat her cognitive existence of her mother that she’d created, after defeating her she tells Futaba how much she loves her and then disappears. She stops Medjed and joins the Phantom Thieves (composed of Akira, Morgana, Ryuji, Ann, Makoto, and Yusuke) who help her come out of her shell.

  • Personality: Social anxiety, originally a hermit and dealt with depression and being an introvert to the max, loves video games and anime, she becomes very relaxed around the Phantom Thieves and Sojiro, she has a childish side and loves to tease her friends, has a knack for technology, loves food and cats (hint hint Morgana)

  • Background: After Morgana gets into a fight with the Phantom Thieves he meets Haru by accident and she gets dragged into her father’s palace and awakens her persona and works with Morgana to change her father’s heart. The Phantom Thieves (consisting of Akira, Ryuji, Ann, Yusuke, Makoto, and Futaba) find Morgana and Haru and eventually they make up with Morgana and he and Haru join the team. They not only want to make her father pay for all his wrong doings, but they want to get Haru out of the engagement her father placed her in because the guy is controlling, abusive, and overall just a horrible person that’s the son of a politician. Haru’s persona , Milady, is able to take her full form when Haru confronts her father’s shadow and a cognitive version of her fiance that finally shows the true intentions of her father and she is unable to hold back her rage. Haru’s father is defeated later on and he reveals that he hired someone to carry out the mental shutdowns and he holds a press conference in the real world to apologize for all his wrong doings. But, he suffers a mental shutdown before he can reveal the identity of his associates in the conspiracy. Haru mourns for her father and deals with company-related business and by this point the Phantom Thieves have been framed for Haru’s father’s murder.

  • Personality: She is polite, observante, ladylike for the most part, very conscious of her actions. She’s not always a good judge of someone’s character meaning she finds it difficult to differentiate between who truly values her as a friend and who merely wants to use her for her family's status. This includes not only friends, but adults and teachers as well - it seemed like everyone smiled at her for their own personal gain. After meaning the Phantom Thieves, she becomes passionate, rebellious, and eventually learns how to properly convey her mind and connect with others. She also loves gardening.
