Project Overview

Hello Declan here
Over the last year Ive been working on a computer game using the RPG Maker VX Ace. I put an earlier version on some RPG Maker forums and got some good feedback and tips. Due to the very story driven aspect of the game I thought the scenes would look good with voiceovers for the characters.
So here I am, Ive built up an extended demo of the game and now looking for some voices before I send it back to the forums.

Feel free to give me as much feedback as you like, also if there is a problem with the download let me know.

Join Cyrus, a young man who feels like hes somehow different to everyone else. Until one day he discovers he is actually the descendant of Omega, a demon god from ancient times. It is also prophesised that he will be the one that will destroy the world. Follow his story as he struggles with his powers while being chased by Neras, a militarist church that follows the teachings of Alpha an ancient god that once walked the earth. They are the ultimate power in the world and one that all the kingdoms both fear and respect. Travel with Cyrus as he journeys through and beyond the continent of Gaia, passing many towns, cities and dungeons hoping to find the truth behind the prophecy.

Each character will have a certain title next to their name, this is to show how much scenes they will be involved in and how much lines they will have. The story is split in half to show which part of the story they will be more involved in. The list of character types are:
Main: Is seen throughout the story and is a playable character, will have a lot of lines.
Major: Is in several scenes with quite a bit to say
Minor: Is only in one or two scenes, will have some lines.
Extra: Only the odd line or mainly in the background.
The characters that are playable will announce their moves in battle, they're attached in the audition lines.

  • Another Update

    UPDATE: 02/05 Firstly I like to say a massive thank you to everyone who auditioned. We have had 200 auditions from BTVA and 101 from CCC. I really didn't expect it to be so popular. Now I bet you're all wondering who I will be casting. Well I'll be making another batch of casting today, and the rest will be made during the week. I'm still waiting on some re-auditions, so if you really want to get involved you need to send them ASAP. Please don't feel disheartened if you don't get picked, it was very competitive. However I will also be casting understudies and extras so keep an eye out for that. Can everyone who was cast get in touch with me.

    UPDATE 24/04 Hi guys, we're getting close to the deadline now and with the last update I said I'll be casting some of the characters the week after. We're at that point now so I'll be looking at casting the roles of Cyrus, Freya, Aria Tiberius, Omega, and Bellona. I've just come back from a friend's house who has his very own recording studio so it's given me a chance to really have a good listen to the auditions while also having someone else's professional opinion. (He'll be voicing one of the minor characters not up for audition.) We feel we've got large competition for those roles so now is a chance to cast them and also gives those unsuccessful to audition for other roles. If you haven't auditioned for them or given me the re-auditions for these roles get them in ASAP.   • Casting Plan

     Update 19/04: I am completely blown away by the high quality of auditions that I'm getting so far. Looking at casting I can tell its going to be an awesome team of VA's. If I gave you critique please don't be offended. I've tried to be fair and give positives and improvements to all auditions. If I've given you a lot of notes think of it as me seeing a lot of potential and wanting to see the best out of you. I've had a word with the guys which will be helping me make the game and we feel we're nearly ready to start casting. I don't want to stray from the deadline too much and there's still a lot of minor character I feel we haven't got enough auditions for yet. So I've decided to wait until the 25th of April then I will start casting the roles which have a lot of auditions or the ones which I feel I've found the perfect voice. So if there's a role you have your heart set on but haven't auditioned yet you haven't got much time left. Hi guys, my apologies to those are still waiting feedback. I've been busy working on the game but I will get to them as quick as I can. But now I can share with you some more work I've done. Recently I put up an advertisement for someone to redesign the character portraits, well no one wanted to take it on so I decided to have a go myself.   • Audition Progress

    Firstly thank you for everyone that has auditioned so far. The project has only been up for audtion for a little over a week and I've had some incredible auditions. However no role has been cast yet and won't be cast until the last week in April. As of yet every role are there for the taking but some roles are more competitive than others. I would ask that people who have applied only for 1 or 2 roles to apply for more. Most roles will have understudies and those who are cast understudies but don't have major roles will be cast as extras. (There's quite a lot of extra roles.) (Mid range, soft, kind, polite, naive)As the princess of Neras shes spent all her life in the holy city of Kalekka. Bored of being trapped in the same place she disguises herself as a priestess and joins a Crusader Squad on a journey to a far away kingdom. On their travels they get ambushed and later saved by Cyrus and his friends. The leader of the Crusader Squad knew she was actually the princess and feared they would find out they might interrogate and abduct her. So before he died he temporary wiped her memory. Worried about her Cyrus decided to let Aria travel with them. Throughout her journey she discovers how Neras really is perceived and learns more about the corruption of the people that serve her mother.

(Low-range, gruff, deep)A sort of grumpy fatherly figure to some of the main characters. When he was younger he travelled the continent of Gaia as a sellsword. His travels led him to Espova which had been conquered by Trysus. There he met Troy and together they started a rebellion that freed the people of Espova. He not to receive any accolades for his part in the war and let Troy take all the credit. Feeling guilty Troy decided to give Moulder the role of manager of his hometown Breeze Village. During the war he accidently killed an innocent woman so to repent he took her baby and raised him up in an orphanage with other children whose parents died during the war. Since that day he swore never again to use his sword and instead fights using his fists.

  • How could you!? What would Marcus have said if he'd seen you out there? Answer me! (In battle moves) Power up! Ultimate Punch! Knuckle Shockwave!

  • There's an orc that's been attacking people on the mountain path to the east. All you have to do is kill it and they should let you in.

  • Watching the bloodshed I began to doubt the reason for it all. After the war ended I had hoped to go travelling to once again find the motivation to fight. Then I met her. A beaten and battered young woman on the verge of death. She was clutching a newborn baby in her arms. It seemed she was being hunted and she mistook me for one of those hunters. She attacked the moment she saw me. Before I could speak I..... (Sigh) After that I swore on that day never again would I use my sword.

(Mid-low range, assertive, calm, wise)The prophet of Alpha. Was once human and fought against Omega with Queen Lydia. After the battle he was accidently transported to the world of the gods. There he was gifted with eternal life and the honour of being the mouthpiece of the gods. He warned humanity that the descendant of Omega would be born and destroy the world. Since that day hes watched humanity from his castle that floats high in the sky. When Cyrus is younger he starts sending him messages through his dreams warning him about what is destined to happen. This seems to be against his instructions from Alpha, so for what reason is he warning Cyrus?

  • Head my words, for I tell the future through the words of god. I come bearing both knowledge and a warning.

(Mid-low range, dark, hateful, sad, mysterious) The ancient demon god of legend. Over 1000 years ago he was destroyed thanks to the sacrifice of the reigning Seraph Lydia. From that day on he waited in the abyss until he is reborn in the heart of his descendant Cyrus. As Cyrus power grows he starts to regain his senses, then his emotions then even his memories. Eventually he attempts to take control of Cyrus mind and grows stronger by feeding off his dark emotions. He believes that all mankind is controlled by the perpetual chains of the gods and he is their salvation from their endless pain. His words are ones of great passion yet he speaks with no emotion.

  • Do not struggle; just let your resistance subside. Release your anger, your sadness. Let it become you.

  • What are you doing!? Why are you refusing me!? Why are you refusing our powers!? Can you not hear their screams? Theyre calling you to end it. Accept your true nature or watch as they writhe in eternal agony!

(Mid-range, soft, determind) The protagonist of the story. A young man from Breeze Village, a quiet place in the north of Gaia. He trains to become a soldier for the nearby kingdom of Espova but doesnt really take it seriously as he feels like he doesnt belong on the outside world. Later on he discovers hes actually the descendant of Omega and the one destined to destroy humanity. He travels across the world hoping to find the truth behind the prophecy. As the story develops he begins to find a meaning to his life and a hope that one day he will prove the prophecy wrong. Throughout the story he fights his own dark urges and a voice that tries to possess him from the inside.

Then I see who started the fire. That was when the mark of my hand first appeared. Maybe it would have been better if I died that day. I'm sorry I never told you about it before. Deep down I was worried you'd look at me differently. I would have done anything to give up these powers. I hated them and hid them from everyone. Then we found each other again.

(Mid range, abrupt, rude, loyal)Apprentice knight under the supervision of Abel. A surprisingly skilled warrior although he doesnt have the motivation to really train. Doesnt like confrontation and prefers not to do things that would get him in trouble or worse killed. Was a childhood friend of Aria but she saw him as more of an errand boy getting him to do risky things for him so she wouldnt get told off. Ever since then everyone has always seen him as a bit of a pushover. He is incredibly loyal and if pushed too far will do anything to protect his friends.

(Mid-range, arrogant, old, slightly creepy)A bishop of Neras sent to be their representative in Espova. Incredibly greedy, he will do anything possible to increase his position in the church. His duties included collecting taxes that Espova to pay to the church, a lot of which he pocketed for himself blaming the kingdom for the shortcoming of taxes. It is because of corrupt people like Norton that people are beginning to distrust Neras. Hes one of the first people to find out that Cyrus is the descendant of Omega and uses that knowledge to gain favour with Pope Cicero.

  • You demon! You would destroy our Alloral Stones, the sacred relics of our people. You will burn you for this! King Sayet will be told about what happened here.

  • Your excellency, that was very impressive of you. Surely the world will be a better place under your guidance.

(Mid-low range, respectful, confident, kind)The hero of Espova, Troy was once a lowly officer with no major title. He was sent to a distant land for a ordinary mission. He returned to find that his kingdom had been completely captured by the kingdom of Trysus. There he happened to bump into Moulder an old friend he met on his travels. Together they started a rebellion to free Espova from its captors. When Neras joined the war against Trysus, Troy used that as an opportunity to free the capital. As a reward for his actions he was allowed take any town or land in the kingdom as his own. He politely declined instead keeping his hometown of Breeze Village. Hoping to keep Moulder around he asked him to become the protector of the village while he was leading the fight against the northern barbarians. Moulder agreed on the condition an orphanage be built for the children that lost their parents from the war. His wife Isabella was always frail and died a few years after giving birth to Freya. Since then Troy has always struggled to cope with being a single parent and felt sad every time he saw her face as it reminded him of his dead wife.

  • In case I dont return I need to say thank you. If it wasnt for you we would have never won the war.

  • Wait! Before you go I need to tell you something. I know I was never there for you when you were growing up and I should have done more. I failed as a father, and for that Im sorry. But please be careful Freya! I know I lost that right to be worried about you, but youre all I have left in this world.

  • (Before a big batte when he speaks to his soldiers) Long ago, this kingdom was invaded by our enemies. But we fought and took back what was rightfully ours. And now we stand once again in the way of an enemy that wants to take our land. You may think that the army of Neras will be merciful; well I can assure you that if they defeat us here they will show no mercy. They will destroy your homes, kill your friends, take your women and throw your children over the castle walls. They believe that it is Alpha himself that wills this. Well lets show them that today we fight not for the will of gods or rulers but as free men. We will show them that the free men of Espova shall die to protect everything they hold dear! (Mid-range, dignified, polite, arrogant) General of Neras and leader of the Crusader Knights. A man of great integrity and honour. Many people see him as guiding light of decency compared to the majority of corrupt officials in Neras. Openly opposes Pope Cicero when he feels the common people are at risk but doesnt pursue the issue his requests for mercy are refused. Though his knights oath is too Cicero his loyalties lie with Queen Cecilia.

  • I cannot do that your majesty; I was ordered to capture this temple. Come back with us, we must take you back to the capital.

(Mid range, confident, arrogant) Daughter of Troy. She has been friends with Cyrus since they were infants and spent most of their childhood together. When she was 13 she became seriously ill so her father brought her back to the capital to be cared for. She didnt see Cyrus again until another 4 years. When Cyrus finds out he is the descendant of Omega, she travels with him in the hopes of saving his life, and makes it her mission to prove to the world that Cyrus isnt evil. She is incredibly bossy and treats Cyrus like he is useless and cant do anything for himself. However she has an overwhelming desire to be needed by others and deep down uses her friendship with Cyrus to satisfy her insecurities.

(Mid-range, cocky, arrogant, determind)A young man from Trysus the central kingdom of the main continent of Gaia. He is the son of the deceased Edgar; a swordsman that many people believed was the worlds greatest warrior. He has a very lazy disposition and leaves all the important duties to his older brother while he spends most of his time travelling and chasing women. He secretly idolises his brother Malachite but knows he will never be able to match him as a warrior or a leader. He meets Cyrus while hes on the run and ends up joining him on his adventures. Tiberius likes to think hes got the gift with the ladies and consonantly tries his luck with no success. When he meets Freya he becomes infatuated and tries every lame attempt in the book to woo her.

  • Why didn't you say something earlier? The guard is an old buddy of mine; I can get you past the border. (In battle moves) BOOMerang! Low Blow! Union Sync! Axe Shockwave!

  • You know, I never knew my father. He died when I was a baby, but my brother was the one I looked up to. And how did I repay him, by running away when he needed me the most! He died trying to protect me, because I'm weak!

  • (In his head) Okay don't panic, I'm going to have to bring out the big guns. (To Freya) Oh my dear lady, take heart in knowing that if you wish to cry I'd be waiting with open arms for you to weep upon. (In his head) Is it working? She hasn't said anything. It must be working; no woman would be able to resist those fancy words. Now to seal the deal.

(Mid-range, proud, determined)A young man from Breeze Village, he is best friends with both Cyrus and Freya. Unlike Cyrus he takes his training to become a warrior very seriously and attains many accolades for his skills at such a young age. When he discovers that Cyrus is the descendant of Omega, he becomes torn with his friendship with Cyrus against his duty to the people of Espova and safety of the world. In the end he decides to fight his best friend in the hopes he will give Cyrus and quick and painless death but is ultimately defeated. Proving to himself that he was never actually the strongest in the village as Cyrus always would hold back his true strength. Hoping to gain more power he tried to look deep inside to unlock his true potential. What he found out about himself was that beating Cyrus wasnt about duty but actually a hidden jealously of Cyrus and his friendship of Freya. He always felt like the odd one out and that he would feel ignored when all three of them were together. He suppressed those dark emotions for his love of his friends but those suppressed feelings had become too great. He developed a secret enjoyment of inflicting pain that he hid away for so long but in the end these emotions became too much and took control of him. With his new power his true side was born becoming an insane sadistic masochist, hell bent on killing Cyrus.

  • No! This isn't over, I cannot fail! You're not my friend, you're a monster! (In battle moves) Hexaslash! Heptaslash! Octaslash! Decaslash!

  • Please don't make this harder than it already is. I promise to give you a quick and painless death.

  • Muhahaha!!! Where is your god now!? Go on call out to him, plead for his protection! If he is all powerful then he should be able to strike me down where I stand! Hahaha! Well! Im waiting! Scream for me! Let your melody of pain reach the ears of the mighty Alpha! Hmmm....Im still alive, your god is boring! All that power and hes not even going to use it. Maybe he enjoys your suffering as much as I do!? Well you can ask him yourself when Im finished with you Muhahahaha!!!

Even though he looks like a teenager he is actually an 85 year old man. That is because he and his twin sister Eden were genetically modified while in their mothers womb. Their mother died during childbirth and their father died when they were younger so only had each other. Because Eden aged even slower than him, Eli saw himself as her older brother and tried to look after her. To that end he dedicated his life to learning magic. In time he achieved the incredible feat of learning both black and white magic, something almost unheard of in history. Their house was hidden away in the valleys and therefore undisturbed by the outside world. Eli never knew the reason he was born and reads through every one of his fathers journals in find the reason for his birth.

(High-range, happy, naive, determind)The twin sister of Eli. Like him, Eden is also 85 years but because of her altered genetics she actually looks a little girl. Because she has always been treated like a child by her twin brother she developed a childlike nature. Unlike her brother she has no desire to look for answers about why she was born but instead just wants to live a happy life. One day she saw a travelling circus group passing through the valley. It was then she realised she had the power to see through other peoples eyes. Eventually this power grew to the point where she could see anything that was happening anyway around the world. This led her to see Cyrus on his travels. She noticed that Cyrus and Aria looked like her father and mother and with her childlike mind created the illusion that they could be her parents. With that in mind one day she snuck out of their house when Eli was asleep and went to find Cyrus and Aria.

  • I never knew my real parents; they died when I was a baby. I always hoped that somewhere out there they were still alive. Then I saw you and Cyrus and thought that maybe you were.....(Crying) I just wanted a mum and dad like everyone else.

  • I never got lonely. I had my big brother with me.

  • Im not afraid of dying; I had my mum and dad with me. When you kill me Ill die knowing I found the happiness I was always looking for. But youre the one who cant hide your fear. I can see into your heart, you dont want to do this. Deep down youre not a bad person; you just feel that you cant go back to how it was.

(Low-mid range, hateful, proud, assertive)The last of the demon lords, Caius was only a child when Omega was destroyed. Since then Neras has hunted the Demon Lords all which obeyed Omega. While the others were killed, Caius hid in ancient castles across the world protecting them using the Murum. (A forbidden dark spell that casts a force field that can only be pierced using similar dark magic.) He is tasked with safeguarding the ancient secrets and relics of the Noctis, and ordered to wait for the day the descendant of Omega would be born so that Caius could unlock the descendants true power. Hundreds of years of isolation has left him bitter and after meeting Cyrus feels he is unworthy of his power and that is should be him that gains the power of a god. He is also being chased by Exodus who wants the relics of Noctis for himself.

The Seraphs are a gift sent by the gods to protect the all powerful Alloral Stone which according to the ancient text is the secret to humanitys salvation. The Seraph gene is passed to all female members of their bloodline. When her mother Lydia sacrificed herself to destroy Omega over 1000 years ago she was left to take the role of Seraph and Queen. To prevent anyone else from having to struggle in her lonely life she encased herself in crystal which would stop her from aging but she would never be able to leave her room. For centuries she watched as everyone loved died of old age while she remained. Until one day she was forced to exit her crystal form to stop the war that was ravaging Gaia. During the peace treaty she collapsed. When she woke she was told she was pregnant, but the father died a long time ago. A few months later she gave birth to Aria. She is greatly loved by the people and the strength of her rule resulted in the continued prosperity of Neras. However there are those in the church who believe she is weak and should be removed from her position.

(Mid range, arrogant, proud, hateful) As the Pope of Neras he holds great influence over the church, second only to Queen Cecilia. When he was younger he served as assistant to his predecessor. But with his masters death due to old age he took advantage of the panic and rallied the soldiers against their enemies. Many people in the church saw him as the reason for their victory and called for him to become the new Pope. Queen Cecilia had her reservations but had no choice. The time with his new title changed him. After many years of being told by those around him how brilliant he was he began to see himself as the true messenger of Alpha. He saw the likes of the royal family as pretenders to the throne and he should be absolute ruler of everything. He believes that he alone is the chosen one and everyone else is unworthy.

  • Queen Cecilia has gotten in my way for the last time. With her brat of a daughter dead I will finally be able to take full control of Neras. (Laughs) I will build the greatest empire the world has ever seen, and all who oppose me will die.

  • If I'm being honest I'm rubbish at using programs like Photoshop. At the moment I'm using the sample portraits and sprites the RPG maker program uses. I don't mind that particularly and don't think it takes anything from the game. But if anyone wants to work on the sample portraits I'm using to give them different emotions or even create new sprites and portraits altogether you'll get a full credit for your work.

When Bellona was younger she worked as a handmaiden to a wealthy lord, but thanks to the corrupt nature of the political system she used the greatest war in history as an opportunity to become a warrior. She gained many accolades in the war and was shown to be an incredible fighter. Very rarely in history had people seen a woman master the art of swordsmanship quite like her therefore she became an instant celebrity not just in Judosar but all over the world. Judosar only played a minor part in the war and therefore became unaffected by the result. After the war Bellona tried to live a normal life, now as a lady and no longer being a servant. She married, gave birth to son and lived happily, but the ruling politicians had seen her fame and sought to use her as a tool to gain power. The Patriot Faction (one of the two rival political factions that are vying for control) attempt to convince her to join them by offering her wealth, power, respect etc. She refused this request and sought to keep away from the public eye. So the Patriot Faction resorted to killing her husband as well as kidnapping her son. They told her unless they do what they asked she would never see her son alive.
