Project Overview

PEACH CREEK - ADULT REBOOT OF ED, EDD N EDDY

Have you ever wanted to see one of your favourite animated shows rebooted? Well, now you can! In this adult reboot of the hit Cartoon Network show Ed, Edd n Eddy, we revisit the trio and all the gang 5 years on.

Now in their final year of High School, the 11-episode show follows the story of the 3 Eds, as well as other characters, in a complex narrative which deep-dives into the inner psyche of these incredible characters.

As this show is for an adult audience, mature themes will be explored, and it is not aimed for kids. However, there will still be plenty of fourth-wall breaks, puns and zingers.

CASTING

I'm casting for a wide range of characters, both male and female - ranging from the ages of 13-18. Nearly all characters have North American accents (with the exception of Rolf, who is from an unknown Scandinavian country).

As this project is being funded from my own pocket... Well, firstly the audition deadline is set for a few months time, to ensure everyone will be paid accordingly; but also, you may not see the end results for quite a while - as they have to be animated!

Now, in the original show, characters were hammed up to some extent. What I'm hoping to do is to bring them back down to earth. There's still a small level of over-the-topness; but think of it more like Bojack Horseman than Ed, Edd n Eddy.

TECHNICAL DEETS

As mentioned before, this is a self-funded passion project - I will be able to compile the final edit of the finished work, however it will take time. As well as this, please PLEASE ensure that audio is of high quality and clean. No reverb, as minimal background noise as possible, and no peaking. These are things that are hard to fix in post (particularly peaking), and can affect the quality of the audio when edited.

ROLES

Given the significant number of roles available, as well as the character importance of the original show, some roles are more prominent than others. So, obviously, leading characters will be paid more than supporting characters. Having said that, each character plays a significant part in the overall story, and most supporting characters have roughly equal screen time.

Characters should sound pretty similar to how they sounded in the original show - so voice accuracy is a must! There are plenty of clips on YouTube showing the characters in action. Check out the Ed, Edd n Eddy YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLiD5R9zNdNmEdyr_F0w2AQ

PAYMENT

Payment will be done per episode (of which, 6 are fully written at the time of writing - the other 5 are drafted). Not all characters appear in each episode. Payment will be done via PayPal only.

FINAL NOTES

Again I want to stress that this is a passion project, and is not funded or sponsored by Cartoon Network, a.k.a Cartoon, Danny Antonucci, or anyone! There currently is no crowdfunding in place.

In the character notes, I have marked any notes in red italic - please don't read these when auditioning. This is to give context to the lines.

There are plans further down the track to have a Discord in place for all cast members. This will be done once auditions are done!

ADDITIONAL EDIT, 8th JULY: I've amended the deadline to be July 17th - this is just to help get your auditions in, however this does not mean that the project will be complete by that date!

Wow. Just. Wow. So many incredible auditions. So many to choose from! Everyone really nailed it, and truthfully I was overwhelmed at the level of enthusiasm this project has. • Deadlines, available roles, auditions!

Hey all you talented people! I'm overwhelmed by the sheer number of auditions so far. All have been amazing, and I'm slowly picking out the ones I feel best suit the characters, and the vision I have in mind. I also realised that the 'deadline' I originally posted does not correspond to the deadline that the project will be completed, nor when I'm hoping to have all the voices ready by. I've updated it to be the end of next week, however I may be pushing this, depending on what characters are still available for casting. Currently there are no auditions yet for Sarah or Jonny - Sarah may be a small role, but she has a HUGE impact and presence, so if there is anyone keen to audition for that role, as well as any other female character, please go for it! Jonny is also very prominent for the final few episodes, and is a key character to the story. I'd love to hear your take on his character! Thank you all

Role assigned to: LoopyGG

Eddy Skipper McGee - a man in his own world. An incredibly large ego for a man of such short stature. His main goals in life are motivated by his insatiable greed and innateness for pranking people. Sarcastic, quick-tempered, but often charismatic. Tries to be a charmer with the ladies (mostly unsuccessfully). Deep down, he has many issues stemming from physical and psychological abuse from his older brother. He often wants to 'be better' than his older brother, and to surpass him as much as he can: whether that be via better pranks, becoming school president, or being richer... Which, unfortunately, costs him those he holds close.

Currently 11 episodes in total - approx. word count per episode is 150-160 words.

VOICE

Loud, incredibly raspy and guttural (from all the shouting he's done).

  • Yeah, yeah. Shut it, sockhead. I got work this evening. Stuff to do. - when Edd is lecturing him on the dangers of smoking.

  • Well, I’d normally say it’s been fun catching up. ‘Cept it hasn’t. See ya later, ass-clown. - Eddy is saying goodbye to Sarah (Ed's sister), who he actively despises.

  • What do you think, Rolfy-boy? Should we let Sockhead lead us to our certain doom? - Edd has just propose to let Marie Kanker help with fixing the van in the junkyard, of whom the trio have a turbulent relationship with. He's asking Rolf, a Scandinavian student, for his advice.

The 'brains' of the trio. Usually the moral compass and voice of reason. Edd is very studious, and as such his mastery of the English language is incredible - albeit annoying. He will rant and rave about something for ages, and go off on a tangent, to find that no one is listening.

He will occasionally offer up a dry, witty remark that only a handful of people will understand. Has complex issues with his parents, they are hardly ever around and communicate to him via sticky notes. During the show, they are away on a lengthy business trip, and have left Edd the house to himself. He's slowly coming to terms that constantly abiding by the rules, and always aiming to please his parents, is not the best way to live his life going forward.

Approx. 150-160 words per episode.

VOICE

Raspy when speaking normally, it can get high and grating when he's excited and happy. When angry, his voice goes in the opposite direction - getting deeper, and more quieter (unless he's shouting).

  • Well, the mix of being a social outcast, and ostracized by our peers when we were younger would do that to you. - When talking about Jonny 2x4, and how he has become a recluse.

  • Sometimes I just want some alone time, Eddy. I trust you can respect that. - When Eddy is trying to invite himself and Ed round to Edd's house for drinks that evening

  • Little bit crass, don’t you think? - when Eddy insults another character, directly to her face

Role assigned to: Sean Goodrich

The lovable oaf, the gentle giant, Ed. Affectionately known as 'Lumpy' by his close friends, Ed is a slightly bumbling, awkward teen with a deep, contagious laugh. While happy, jovial and full of energy on the outside; on the inside Ed has been suffering parental and sibling abuse. At the start of the show, he runs away from home, only to be found by Edd and Eddy - he later starts living at Edd's house, and starts to rebuild his confidence - ultimately finding friendship with Jonny.

While a major character in the original show, Ed takes a bit of a back seat in the reboot. He is still crucial to the plot, and really comes into his own in the later episodes. However, in the early episodes he is missing for 2, and has less lines in others. As such, he is deemed a supporting character.

VOICE

Ed's voice is deep, with no rasp. It is often quite loud and booming, he doesn't have a volume control, having two settings: Loud and Louder. His laugh is contagious, is deep and can last a while - he also tends to chuckle at the simplest of things, be it an insect on a window sill, or a dumb drawing of someone.

  • Aw man, Double D. I don’t got many cards left. - the Eds are playing cards in the back of the van, after a hard day's work fixing it up. Ed has lost most of his cards.

  • But, your parents will be angry, won’t they? When are they back? - Edd has just offered to let Ed stay at his house, in the guest bedroom. Ed's parents are abusive.

  • Wherever you go, I follow, Double D! You don’t have a spare key. - Edd has mentioned to Ed that he will be going to the junkyard, and offers Ed to come with him.

Lee Kanker / Deep, husky-voiced teen

Role assigned to: Wubcake

The domineering leader of the Kanker sisters, and the eldest of the trio. Since their mother left (trying to find May's father), Lee has taken over the matriarchal duties of the Kanker household. Similar to Marie, she doesn't have the time or patience to deal with people's crap. She often is very blunt and direct with people, which can cost her opportunities.

As a result of her takeover, she is in the deep end. Constantly having to juggle between study, work and adulting, she is nearly at her wit's end. Bill after bill is arriving, overdue notices, rent... The last thing she wants is for her family to split apart. To her, family is everything.

While not present in every single episode, Lee is notable for having a later episode primarily focused around her - a spotlight episode.

VOICE

Lee has a deep, husky voice, which ages like a fine wine. When she was younger, it wasn't pleasant to listen to, but has softened over the past five years. Her laugh is almost maniacal, as it tends to get quite deep.

  • Y’see all those overdue bills? That’s the shit I deal with while you fuck cars and fuck up Double D. Or is it the other way round? - in the middle of a heated argument with Marie, who wants to leave the trailer for good.

  • You really remind me of a chihuahua. - to Eddy, after he tries to assert himself.

  • I have a first name, McGee. How about you use it. - to Eddy, after he addresses her by her surname.

Marie Kanker / Midwestern, sarcastic

Role assigned to: Wubcake

Brash, confident, snappy and wry; Marie is the middle child of the Kanker sisters. Punk rock to her core, she harbours a crush on Edd. She is sick of her life in Peach Creek, and wants to get out, often clashing with Lee, who wants to keep the Kanker family together.

Marie doesn't have the time or energy for people who aren't genuine, and is quick to cut people out of her life. Often a rule-breaker, she usually gets detention or sent out of class. Has a proficient artistic talent, and is an incredible mechanic. She works a part-time job at a local garage.

VOICE

Almost sounding midwestern, Marie's voice is quite high, almost grating at times - but usually pleasant sounding. It gets very high, and can crack and squeak when she's excited or angry. When she flirts with Edd, she will often lower her voice, invading his personal space.

  • I got a proposition. An opportunity, really, no strings attached… Unless you’ve got other ideas… - Marie offers Edd help fixing up the van.

  • 100th time’s the charm. No more creepy perverts please. - Edd, Eddy and the Kankers have gone door-to-door knocking, trying to find where Ed has gone.

  • Fuck Eddy, man. People like him don’t change. - Edd confides in Marie that Eddy has done some terrible things to him and Ed.

May Kanker / Deep, nasally 'blocked nose' voice

Role assigned to: cgoodrich

The youngest of the Kanker sisters. While occasionally brash, she has a far softer heart than her two siblings. Slow on the uptake, and unsure of who she wants to be yet, she tries to be good - however she all too often finds herself following in her sisters' footsteps, accidentally being rude to people without realising.

In the earlier episodes, she deals with the guilt of not stopping Ed from running away, and also how she has mistreated him in the past. She wants to set things right with him, but also finds herself drifting apart from her sisters. She forms a friendship with Nazz in later episodes, and the two bond.

May has an interesting role, in that she has a significant role in some episodes, but is away for others. She is prominent in the penultimate episode.

VOICE

May has a minor lisp, and tends to snort sometimes while she is speaking - due to her nose shape, she often sounds like she has a cold, or is bunged up. Her family unfortunately is too poor to afford any nasal surgery, so it is something she learns to deal with. Her voice will occasionally crack if she shouts.

  • Ed is the wonderfullest guy of all time, and I-… I just want to make things right. - talking to Edd and Eddy, offering help finding Ed.

  • Does that mean he gets to be back in Peach Creek?! - upon finding out Ed may be staying with Edd.

  • I saw him leave. I could’ve – I should’ve stopped him. - May confides in her sisters that she witness Ed leave Peach Creek.

Kevin / greaser-jock, rich, deep voice

Role assigned to: brycedenton

A reasonably friendly greaser-jock. Big into bikes, big into sports. He doesn't really follow anything else. Doesn't understand politics (much to his girlfriend, Nazz's annoyance), doesn't understand any of the sciences. Has a reasonable understanding of mechanics, as he keeps his bike in pristine condition.

His Dad works in the jawbreaker factory, however he no longer has an interest in the candy. Instead, he occasionally smokes a bit of weed with Rolf every now and again (but they keep this very, very low key).

VOICE

Reasonably deep, cool and rich. Almost surfer-dude at times. Usually calls people 'bro', 'man', or 'dude'.

  • Rolf, no offence to you bro, but I may put these in the trash. - after Rolf has given him and Nazz a peculiar anniversary gift

  • Rolfy boy! Happy Friday bro. - Rolf has just come to join him and Nazz in the hallway.

  • Woah. She’s looking beautiful, babe. - to Nazz, after he's just finished polishing his motorbike.

Role assigned to: Constant Cottoncandy

A very educated teen, who is trying to be the voice of social justice. Does not fit the 'dumb blonde' stereotype at all. Nazz is confident, socially conscious, but worries about offending those around her.

Studious, part of the cheerleading squad - many people have had crushes on her in the past. She's dated Kevin on-and-off for the past few years, however their relationship is slowly falling apart.

VOICE

Typical California valley girl, however she is usually very calm and reasonable. Rare to shout or get angry. She gets excited at times, and is very charismatic and energetic.

  • That's great, Kev. Now can we please go? - to Kevin, who is fixating on his bike. Nazz wants to take him out for a picnic date, before the weather turns cold.

  • And you did mention that Columbus was in fact a colonizer, not a settler? And that he and his cohorts set the stepping stones for the destruction of Native American land? - to Kevin, who said he's done the history homework.

  • Actually Rolf, you’d have a great perspective on this. As a migrant from a colonized country, what are your thoughts on the savagery that started this so-called proud nation? - wanting Rolf's opinions on the colonization of the USA.

Role assigned to: Noflers

Charismatic, likeable, charming, and a good listener, Jimmy is there for those around him. Underneath this though, is a conniving, manipulative man who will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. He has a personal vendetta against Eddy, who he has despised since an undisclosed event that occurred in Junior High. He holds the other two Eds accountable too, for sticking with Eddy after the 'event' happened.

Only a couple of people don't trust him - Marie, and Nazz. Both are smart enough to leave him be for the time being.

VOICE

After puberty hit, Jimmy's voice has changed the most. Gone is the effeminate, high pitched squeal of a voice. Instead, he has a smooth, buttery tone - incredibly suave. He's charismatic, likeable and charming.

  • You know what you need? You need something to take your mind off everything. - to Sarah, shortly after Ed ran away.

  • Good morning all you wonderful people. I've brought some home-made, M&M coated, double chocolate cookies! - entering his morning class, five minutes late. He's brought the cookies as a bribe to the teacher, to get off having detention.

  • It's okay, Double D. You can tell me anything, I'm here for you. - trying to pry information from Edd about what Eddy did to anger him and Ed.

Role assigned to: ConnorCheely

While only mentioned in the first half of the show (aside from an early cameo appearance), Jonny comes into his own in the latter part of the show - befriending Ed, and helping Ed out of a tough situation with Eddy and Edd. While having to deal with problems of his own, as well as a significant degree of social awkwardness, Jonny's heart is in the right place.

  • N-no Ed, it's just me here. Wanna go for a walk? If you want. I dunno. - Greeting a very lonely and depressed Ed, who has just had a fight with Edd and Eddy.

  • Aim for the round one up there - hell yeah! - throwing bricks with Ed at an old, abandoned house's windows.

  • P-please don't mention him - it, to me. Please. - after Edd quizzes him on what happened to Plank, his imaginary friend (a piece of wood).

Rolf / Scandinavian immigrant, confusing voice

Role assigned to: MarlonVoiceActor

While still getting accustomed to American life, Rolf's English has significantly improved. However, just to annoy the people around him (for his own amusement), he keeps his English poor sometimes. Often referring to people by nicknames ('go-go Nazz girl', 'growth-only-to-ego Ed-boy', 'Casanova Kevin-boy' etc.), he is the King of the Roast.

VOICE

Despite his impressive stature, Rolf's voice is not as deep as people think. His voice has only gotten slightly deeper since the original show, which contrasts with his muscle and towering presence. Due to his unknown country origin, all we know is that he's from somewhere in Europe. He only ever refers to it as 'the Old Country', and refuses to call it by its actual name. The closest accent which would resemble his is maybe Norwegian, maybe Italian too?

  • Why hello, go-go Nazz girl! And hello, loving-inanimate-objects Kevin boy. - greeting Nazz and Kevin in Kevin's garage.

  • By Murgatroyd, that went as well as ever for you, romantically-illiterate Ed-boy. - after witnessing Marie flirting with Edd.

  • Rolf’s Nana did not approve of this custom, however, and as such, here Rolf is. In America. Alone. - midway through a tangent about customs of the old country.

Role assigned to: SamanthaRose

While only appearing in a handful of episodes, Sarah plays a significant role in realising how horrible she has been to not only her brother, but to those around her. While she can't take back what she has done in the past, she tries to better herself, as well as to begin distancing herself from her parents.

VOICE

Due to her shouting a lot, her voice is fairly raspy at times - very bratty, with an 'I want' attitude.

  • ED! Mom says you gotta come upstairs! Get. The hell. Up! - storming down the stairs to Ed's room, the day after he ran away.

  • Screw you, Eddy. - after Eddy tells her it 'hasn't been a pleasure' seeing her.

  • I've not been a good person. I don't think it can be fixed. - confining to Eddy, in a one-on-one moment together, where they both let their guards down.
