Project Overview
Hello, all the talent that may be interested by the title! You may be asking what exactly is P4GR? Well, P4GR is an acronym for "Persona 4 Golden: The Retelling". This is the debut project of my ShatterBug Productions channel, a channel where we intend to tackle the stories of media we enjoy in the form of audio dramas. Even so, as per our mission statement, we plan to make it the best we can and use it as a learning experience when we move on to others.
On this particular Casting Call, we're looking for the characters who bond with our party over the course of the story. If you audition for these characters and don't get the role, I personally ask that you do not feel as though you are not appreciated. We are greatly in need of a large clergy of voices and I would love if you'd like to join on our project. My PMs are always open if none of the name roles are open.

The carefree face of the basketball team at Yasogami High. Childhood friends with Daisuke Nagase, he often spends his time hanging out with him. His individual character story tackles the importance of pursuing your own goals rather than expectations set upon you.
"Yeah, while they go to their parties, I get to stay here and play with balls. I looooove them balls."
"And now that I don't have to wear that mask anymore... I guess it's time to step off the stage."
"Ha, well, I'm starting to think so too. I thought I had it all figured out, but I just didn't get it. Y'know, it's really the people around me who've shaped who I am. I bought into the same crap artists are always writing or singing about. They're trying to 'find themselves'. So I thought I knew all about how to 'find yourself', I thought I got it. But... Really getting it is totally different, I mean, REALLY finding yourself. Without you guys, I probably never would've figured it out. I would've just kept pretending, and I probably would've given up on the people I care about most. So... Thanks."
A student of class 2-3, Daisuke Nagase acts as Kou Ichijou's straight-man in comparison. He is hyperfocused on his role on the soccer team, so much so that he neglects things such as the opposite sex or unnecessary playtime. Over the course of the story, he comes to face what keeps him deterred from his personal life and climbs over his hurdles as a stronger man.
He is rather serious sounding, but also a lot of a jock. I'm not looking for an edgy take, but I'd like a sort of dedication in your tone of voice when you record these lines. There are so little lines from Daisuke that he doesn't have a voice line video, so have fun and put your own spin on it.
"I'm definitely not stupid... I think I'd know if I was!"
"The hell are you on about, man?! You want to take something like this on by yourself?! Do you forget what you are?! You're an athlete! You're a part of a team! No matter what training you do, the game can't be won without the team! So don't you dare make a stupid mistake and forget about that!"
"I kept pretending that I was trying my hardest... But the truth is, I was hardly trying. If I managed to do well playing at half my potential, nobody really cared that I wasn't taking it seriously. And if I wasn't doing too hot, I had a copout. All I had to do was say I wasn't trying. I was scared of the possibility that things could go wrong, even when I gave it my all. Because if that happened... I would have felt like I had no business even being here... Haha.. Pretty lame, huh?"
The younger brother of the second victim in the string of murders plaguing Inaba. Naoki Konishi spends the majority of the story in grievance of his sister. He struggles to come to terms with the fact his sister is gone and the fact that there is no justice offered for her. So much so, he initially takes this anger out on Yu and Yosuke in a blind hatred.
The first line is BEFORE the murders, please keep that in mind as you're recording the auditions. I'm looking for a more lighter tone voice you would expect of your average anime protagonist.
"Hey, I had a snack in the fridge. Do you know what happened to it? . . . YOU ATE IT?! I WAS GOING TO EAT THAT WHEN WE GOT BACK!"
"Allow me to establish something before this conversation continues... Yu Narukami, you're the transfer student who just came here right before my sister's death... And Yosuke Hanamura, the guy who's been fawning over my sister since she went to work there... I hate you. Both of you. Please keep that in mind as you speak to me."
"There's a river separating us... Sis is gone, and I'm still here. Sis has crossed on over to the other bank, and I'm still on this one...No matter how much I cry and piss my pants, I know Sis isn't coming back."
An elderly widow who struggles to come to terms with the fact that her husband's death was out of her own control. She ends up connecting with Yu over him reminding her of her late husband before he was affected by dementia.
This is an elderly woman, for one. Definitely give off that sense that you are a person who's lived her years. For an example, I would look to Genkai from Yu Yu Hakusho.
"Who am I..? I.. Am Death."
"Live a long and full life. That is the greatest thing you can do for the one you love."
Eri is a recent newlywed woman who struggles to form a bond with her stepson, Yuuta, while also struggling to grapple whether or not her husband actually loves her. This struggle encompasses much of her story as the mother and son slowly come to understand each other.
Eri is very softspoken and pessimistic at the beginning of the story. For the first line, the line is meant to come off as her being very defeated. I'd like to hear that tone in your voice. The second is the major "Aha" moment of her life when she finally realizes why things are going so awry. She's reflecting on her own self and instead of cursing the world, she is cursing herself. The third is when she is finally hopeful for what there is to come.
"I should've known better than to try. We're not related, so there's nothing I can do about it..."
"I wasn't even trying to see him for myself. Maybe I was just afraid of facing him."
We were talking... We thought that maybe we could try to become a family little by little. In order for that to work, I think we need to spend more time together. So, today's the last day he'll be here. After Yuuta's done with school, we'll be spending a lot more time together at the house."
Shu Nakajima is a preppy boy who hired Yu Narukami as his personal tutor in order to set him on the course for a perfect future. However, over the course of the story, he begins to realize the flaws within this objective and begins to understand the importance of living life to the fullest.
Shu starts off as 13, an early teenager. So he definitely has that lighter tone of voice. It could also be a nice touch to have some cracks here and there but that's up to you.
"...it's Yu, right? Let me tell you up front: I have no intention of attending Yasogami High. The cram school I was going to wasn't that good, so I decided I needed to switch to private tutelage. You were the only one available, so.... If I find you inadequate, I'll have you replaced immediately. Remember that."
"It's.. It's not that big a deal... It's just the day I was born... . . . ...that just makes me wonder... Should I... Have been born...?"
"Heh. I cheated on a test, I got suspended... My permanent record must be a wreck. I've got right off the rails leading into a good college and a good company. But... I can see now that I don't have to be on that straight and narrow path. If I'd stayed on that rail, not thinking, not seeing anything except what was right in front of me... My life would've been empty......I'm going to think about my life and set my own path. I feel... like my life is just beginning. Not because I'm young... But because I just realized it."
A nurse who works at the Inaba Municipal. She initially comes off as flirtatious. However under the surface she has a deep complex with her job. Over the course of the story, she comes to regain what fervor she had for her duty.
Sayako, of course, is very confident and flirtatious. Her initial portrayal should come off as being alluring and mature. Though by the second line, she finally gives way to the cracks, showing her real, vulnerable self. I implore you to have fun with that.
"I'll show you something fun the next time you're here."
"They only need me when they're my patients... In the end, they all leave me.."
"I grew to hate hospitals... All the life and death... In the end, everyone leaves, leaving me behind. I was lonely... Then I remembered. I remembered that... I wanted to help. I became a nurse because I wanted to save people's lives. I couldn't see that it was as simple as that... No. I probably didn't want to see it. ... Pfft. And to think the one who would show me this is just some kid with a rag in his hand. ...I tend to go for rich older men, and I landed a child... So... I'm going. I'm going to walk that path I gave up on... I thought I couldn't do it... But I will walk that road. I'm going to be my own guide. Thinking, walking, taking responsibility for myself... Once I've done all that, I can finally say that I've truly lived."
Yumi Ozawa, a passionate actor in the drama club at Yasogami High. She initially comes off as a happy-go-lucky girl who is able to excel at any role given to her. After an incident with her family, this perception of her begins to crack down.
Have fun with this one. The first line takes place BEFORE the incident, so it should come off as happy and exciting while also foreshadowing what is to come with her. The second is in the middle of her turmoil with the situation befalling her. And the third is in the event following after its climax.
"Acting is fun, isn't it? When you're acting, it's like you can take on the life of another person. Not just yourself. Not some Yumi Ozawa... But another life to live... I don't need lights. I don't need costumes. All I need is a role to play. All I need... is to not be me... Oh, sorry, if I keep talking, you'll end up forgetting your own lines, huh?"
"When I come see him... He wakes up... He should be in a lot of pain, but he won't take his medicine because he says it puts him to sleep. He says... because he doesn't have much longer... He wants to stay awake as long as he can... So he can see Mom and me... ...He's so stupid."
"I'm thinking about finding answers to the questions I had before... To 'bear good fruit...' What can I do? What must I do? I hated him... I despised him... But he was my one and only Dad... He and Mom are the ones who gave me life... Then... What can I do for the people who gave me this life? For the people who have supported me? I've been thinking about it all this time... I think I was using acting as a way to hide from the world. To me, the plays were where I could live a different life. Where I wouldn't have to look at my own sadness... I don't know what I can do, but I'm going to find out. I'm not going to run from my own life anymore. After all, I'm the only person who can live it. So... As of today, I'm quitting the drama club."
Ayane Matsunaga begins as the lackey for the band, constantly overshadowed by the rest of the group. She is very timid and avoids the spotlight the majority of the time. However, after some encouragement from the new addition to the band, she becomes more confident in herself.
"Um... Er... I'm Ayane Matsunaga.. A first year. I play the trombone.. And.. Um..."
"I-I'm sorry... I thought I could finally see my dream come true... To think, my music might have actually reach out to one of those people... I thought that was it... That dream used to feel so far away, but for a minute there, it was close enough to touch... I know it sounds like a childish fantasy, but it's much deeper than that. It's more like... a purpose. So... so... I can't help feeling better!"
"It's like I'm a different person now. This might be the first time I've actually... Liked myself. And it's all because I met you..."
Ai Ebihara, a beauty who works as the "Manager" for the Basketball Team. She initially comes off as bratty, but through the story her true personality becomes clear.
Have fun with this one. All I ask is that for the first line, sound pretentious as you would think a rich girl like Pacifica from Gravity Falls or Sharpay Evans from High School Musical. The second is, as you could likely tell from the context, very panicked and frustrated. While the third is much more calm, free even.
"I'm gonna tell you guys straight up, I'm not lifting a finger for this team. I wouldn't be caught dead watching out for a bunch of sweaty guys."
"Guys like pretty girls, don't they!? I'm pretty now! And I had to work hard to become this way! But if I can't be loved then... Then what's the point!?"
"I've carried that thing around ever since I decided to change who I was. I could check myself whenever I wanted, to make sure I was still pretty all the time... But now... I don't need it. From now on, people like you will be my mirror. I'll look for my reflection in you, so that I'll never forget who I am. I won't be able to lie to myself anymore... Thank you. Your eyes taught me how to do that."
Margaret is the attendant of Igor in the Velvet Room tailored to Yu Narukami's fate. She comes off as rather flirtatious but serious. Maintaining this throughout, she still has an unquenchable thirst to know just what will cause a reaction from the both of them.
Again, have fun with this. I would certainly like the confidence turned to an 11. Assume that it is always an event when you are present in a scene.
You're welcome to your own incarnation of the character's voice, but here are some references for what the original sounds like.
"My name is Margaret. I am here to accompany you through your journey."
"I can feel your heart. Words can express nothing. The only way to convey meaning is through the communication between hearts. Hmm.. Yu Narukami and Margaret... What do those names have in common..? . . . Oh no, there's nothing in common. . . . I was testing your generosity. Good job. You passed the test."
"Why did I steal a kiss..? Was that what you were going to ask? But it's you who was the thief."
Igor is the man in charge of the Velvet Room, the place that acts as the borderline between dream and reality. From there, he overseers Yu Narukami's fate within its predetermined scope and takes to guiding him away from the impending doom that comes in the form of the mystery surrounding Inaba.
In case someone has only played Persona 5, this Igor DOES NOT have a super deep voice, in fact it is rather light pitched. Here is a reference.
"Ah... It seems we have a guest with an intriguing destiny... My name is Igor, and I am delighted to make your acquaintance..."
"But... People tend to stake their lives on the path laid before them... ...scarcely giving a thought to what awaits them at the end of the tunnel... (Chuckle)"
"Well, now... I am honestly surprised to see your journey headed toward such a destination. Not content with solving the mystery of your fate, you discovered the mystery's source, and now prepare to face it. The enemy before you now is something that can only be described as a god... It will indeed be a grand finale to your journey... (Chuckle) Well then, I bid you good luck..."
The first homeroom teacher in Class 2-1. He is shown out from the gate to be a stickler for purity when it comes to his students, to their chagrin.

"Now listen up! This TOWN is miles away from your BIG CITY of PERVERTS and ASSHOLES, in more ways than one. You better not even THINK about getting involved with any of the girls here, let alone ABUSING them! But what I do I know... It's not like the old days. Even here, kids grow up so damn FAST. Every time I turn my back, you're fooling around on those damn phones, checking your LIFE-JOURNALS and your MY-PLACES..."
"THAT'S IT! You're on my shitlist! Effective IMMEDIATELY!"
(Improvise)
The second homeroom teacher of Class 2-1. After an incident occurred with Morooka, Kashiwagi takes the reigns of the class. While she is a step-up from her predecessor in that her lectures are more enjoyable for the students and easier to understand, they find that she is worse in the fact she constantly flirts with them or tries to show off her "unmatched beauty" in some form.

(Lined with flirty implication) "Goooood mornin'~ I'm Kashiwagi Noriko, and I'll be your new homeroom teacher starting today~ I'm sure you're all aware of it already. (In a mocking tone) But, now that poor Morooka-sensei has passed away... (Back to flirtatious) I'll be taking GOOD CARE of you instead~ (Giggle)."
(Triumphant) "Hehehehehe.... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA~! My MATURE charms will win the day~!"
(Crying) "Grrghh...! I....! How could I LOSE A BEAUTY PAGEANT!!!"
The stepson of Eri Minami. Yuuta starts off with a distance from his stepmother as he finds himself to be inadequate for her as a son, unaware of her own trouble finding herself adequate enough for him as a mother. Throughout the story, he consults Yu for meaningful advice on how to connect with her, thus finally forming the familial bond that was missing for so long.
For this portrayal, I would specifically think of Timmy Turner as a reference.
"Do you... Do you think she hates me...?"
"She bought me a robot and a DVD! So, uhh... What do you think I should get her in return...? Uh- Y'know! I-In return for the gifts?
"DON'T YOU BULLY MY MOM!"
Saki Konishi, the girl who discovers the first victim of the murder case surrounding Inaba and unfortunately herself becomes the second. A part-time worker at Junes and "friend" of Yosuke's, she is shown to be kind and caring when it comes to the latter. Yu and Yosuke soon after discover that this kindness was a falsehood she carried to her grave.
Have fun with this one. For the first line, you're exhausted emotionally. And in the third, as the line goes on, you're becoming increasingly frustrated until at the end you finally release all that frustration in pure anger.
"Hey, I'm finally on break... What's up, Little Hana? Boosting the family business by bringing your friends here?"
"Are you the transfer student? Oh, did you hear about me already? It must be nice to have someone else from the big city to talk to, huh? I don't see Little Hana hanging out with the other guys much. . . . He doesn't have too many friends, so I hope you two get along good. Little Hana's a good guy, but he can get nosy sometimes. You gotta tell him right to his face when he annoys you."
"I... Never had the chance to say it... I always wanted to tell Little Hana... ...that he was a real pain in the ass! I was nice to him just because he was the store manager's son, that's all. But he takes it completely the wrong way and gets all enthusiastic... What a dip! Who cares about Junes, anyway? Because of that store, our business is ruined, my parents hate me, the neighbors talk behind my back... I wish everything would just disappear!"
Hanako Ohtani is essentially the bane for Chie and Yukiko's existences. She is quite the opposite of the "ideal female" the student populous set as a standard (Yosuke included) but carries herself with a brimming confidence nonetheless.
Definitely have fun with this one. I'm interested in hearing the takes. For reference, think of Big the Cat but a woman.
"The best girls don't go steady for nothing, you know? You need to make an effort."
"I'm on a diet right now, so this is all I made. This has to last me."
"Snoring? What're you talking about? Your face is as foul as your mouth, and your brain is rotten to boot."
Taro Namatame, the man who's scandal being caught on the news kickstarted the events of the story. He is a broken man who is lead to believe that his heinous actions will offer salvation.
Certainly have fun with this one.
(Resolved) "I can't let her end up like Mayumi and the other girl... This time, I'm going to do something..."
(Cocky) "Ah... HAHA... So YOU'RE the ones I SAVED... Don't worry... I'll save this girl too...!"
(Terrified) "N-no...! NO! It's not like he SAID! I swear...! I SWEAR...! It's a misunderstanding...! I didn't mean to... For...!"
The gas station encountered by the family at the very start of the story. He informs Yu of the circumstances for common life at the town and offers him a job at the gas station. Afterward, he is not seen again for quite some time, but when he returns, there is an ominous secret awaiting...
For this guy, I would say think of a toned down Announcer from the Dragon Ball series.
"Hi there! Welcome to Moel!"
"I hear you're also from the big city. Must be shocking for a city boy, seeing so little to be done around here, huh? With as little options there are, you'll probably be bored to death."
"Hmhmhm... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Amazing...! (Chuckle) Alright... Let's drop the charade then..."
A local shop owner in the Yasoinaba Shopping District. She is the source of the items that Yu and the Investigation Team stock themselves up on throughout the course of the story.
She lacks any voice lines, so the takes are all free to interpretation.
"Are you still here..? I'm not going to serve you anything, no matter how long you look at me with those eyes."
A very passionate blacksmith who is eager to create new works each day and is excited to be patrons to the Investigation Team through their ventures.
I'd definitely want the wise old man approach to this. Otherwise, it's all up to your imagination, dear auditionees!
"...if you want something special, bring me your own materials and I'll try to use them for you. I always like seeing new things and trying new techniques. So, bring me some rare materials that I've never seen before. ...if you do, I can make you some real cool stuff. When creating something, the number and types of materials vary. If you bring me the right materials, I can create some fine pieces of art for you. But, what I make is up to me. I AM the artist, after all."
"...welcome! What kind of art shall we make today? Something... Not very heavy? That you can hide underneath your school clothes...? You... Have some very strange tastes in art."
"Man, it's so damn cold outside! Not in here, though. My burning hot heart pumps a hard, beautiful beat every day! ...uh, what? You think it's because of the furnace heat...? Well, I suppose it IS close to a thousand degrees..."
The first victim of the string of murders in Inaba. A former TV Announcer, her affair with Taro Namatame puts both of them out of work and fleeing to Inaba for shelter from the paparazzi.
Have fun with this one! She only has one voiced cutscene in the game, so she's up for interpretation.
"Why do I have to explain myself to you...? What's wrong with you...? D-don't make me call for help! Wh-what're you going to do..?!"
The resident female detective for Tokyo who was sent to Yasoinaba after the investigation reached a major stalemate. She comes to make allies with the likes of Dojima and Naoto, while having somewhat of a rivalry with Adachi.
If you do not recognize this character from the game, it is because she is NOT from the games. She's from that one Naoto novel nobody likes, but we don't gotta worry about that, right?
"Shirogane, huh...? Well, Naoto.. If you're anything like your grandfather, a little kick from the bigger ducks isn't gonna make you stop this investigation. So step it up, yeah?"
"Dojima, listen to me. We're going to find her. I promise. Don't force yourself to do anything unnecessary. Doctor's orders are mine now, too. Ya got it?"
"Well, Detective Adachi, if I checked my rank correctly, I'm a Sergeant.. Which means I OUTRANK you... Meaning I can work on this case as much as I like even if YOU don't want to. It's almost strange how that works, isn't it?"
Another one I doubt you would recognize. Tetsuma Tsuge is a former researcher for the Kirijo Group who is a close contact of Naoto Shirogane's grandfather. He comes to Inaba per Naoto's request as she becomes aware of the existence of Personas and Shadows and seeks for an expert on the subject.
Have fun with this one, another wise old man time, but more of an intellectual type.
"Agh- Well... You ARE correct in that assessment, however...!"
"Ah, so YOU are Yu Narukami, yes? Young Naoto has told me quite a bit about you. Worry not, I am aware of your circumstances. I have not informed Detective Dojima of your... escapades."
"You... Could you please elaborate on what you said you were made of... er... Teddie, was it...?"
Much like Yosuke, Aika is the child of a shop owner in Yasoinaba. However, she is the daughter of the man who owns the Aiya Restaurant which still has frequent customers despite Junes's popularity.
The original is played by Cassandra Lee Morris and sounds exactly like Morgana. That being said, original takes are certainly welcome. She is the type of person who is rather calm despite any situation, alike to Yu Narukami.
"Order up."
(Comforting) "Listen, Yosuke... Konishi was no saint, everyone knew that. But I for one can understand that you loved her with all of your heart. The Yosuke that wanted to spice up his life was never there when she was around. The guy who never cared for when he stumbled or fell wanted to pick himself up from the ground when she could see. So, just because she's not here doesn't mean you should start forgetting everything you did to better yourself for her. She's probably watching you right now from far, far away. The Yosuke I know wouldn't let the show stop there. . . . Now that will be 1200 yen."
(Shock) "The... The Mega Beef Bowl... He finished it...?! How!?"
The manager for Rise before and after her hiatus during the events of Persona 4, and the manager of Kanami Mashita and executive for Kanamin Kitchen. Minoru Inoue has quite the handful of work under Takura Productions. He originally comes to Inaba to convince Rise not to quit the idol business as he sees potential in her. This leads to him making contact with Yu Narukami, someone he comes to trust after the mystery is solved.

"Well, it can't be helped... (Exasperated sigh)"
"I'm here, because... personally, I can't accept that... I've watched over you all this time as your manager... I truly do strongly believe that no other actress can play the role better than Rise Kujikawa."
"Ah, Narukami. Just the man I was hoping to see."
Takeshi Kouno starts off as Chie's crush who clearly does not reciprocate the feelings. He is incredibly obnoxious and self-centered, while also pursuing things based on his own expectations. His interest in Yukiko is only because he believed she was the perfect woman, hence why he lacks interest in her after finding out her true colors.
Have fun with this one. If you want an analogy as to how the character should be, think of a Cindy to Chie's Jimmy Neutron. When it comes to Chie, he should always act like he is above her in some manner.
"Yo. I'm Takeshi Kouno. I WAS with Chie up until Middle School. But, between you and me? I'm glad to be rid of her."
"Oh come ON, Chie! When are ya gonna finally move on from this loser stuff and graduate to King of the Hill, huh?"
"Amagi Yukiko, a damn beauty, is she not? This Amagi Challenge definitely sounds interesting. Too bad it ain't worth a damn. Actually, while I have you, I've been hearing a LOT of things since coming to Yasogami. About how a single transfer student suddenly made a bunch of people change down to their very core after some pep talks and wise words... About how a serial murder case in this washed up town somehow got INTRINSICALLY involved with this dump of a school... And about... THIS...!"
Kasai is Yukiko's most trusted assistant at the Amagi Inn. Having doubled as a babysitter for Yukiko, she knows Yukiko better than most, even her own parents. When Yukiko comes to her seeking to learn cooking, she wholeheartedly agrees to teach her her craft. Despite the rough patches in their training, her work pays off... A quarter of the time.
With this one, I would say have a motherly tone to it. She is almost like Yukiko's second mother, and the latter even respects her as such.
"Ah- Yuki! DON'T PUT THAT MUCH IN THERE!"
"That TV crew came, but don't go to the inn! It was a trick! It's those people from that 'News of the Weird' show! And I think they're looking for you! So stay put, you got that?"
"Oh, I see. You're the one Yuki's been going on about whenever she's at work. Well, I'm happy you're around for her. She's never been this passionate about anything before. I do hope you enjoy what she comes up with. She's done all she can on it."
