Outcast - Web Cartoon
Project Overview
Outcast is a web cartoon project featuring 30+ in-depth characters competing against and alongside each other to be the last contestant standing. It is a parody of shows such as Survivor and Total Drama.
Outcast features a unique carnival/amusement park theme, with challenges usually pertaining to different attractions. There are five teams; Team Rollercoaster (red), Team Carousel (green), Team Funhouse (purple), Team Waterslide (blue), and Team Ferris (yellow).
Although many roles' payment says $0, take this lightly. Members can either work for free or ask for payment, although if you do wish to be paid you will need to wait until I can acquire the right funding.

CASTING CALL DID AN OOPSIE, new interview format.
So... change of plans regarding in the interviews. It looks like I’ve hit my monthly limit of private messages, which I had NO idea about, and apparently I need to upgrade my account to get more private messages... sorry CCC, not happening! I’ve asked support about this, but they were completely unhelpful about it. So it looks like we’ll have to try this a different way. I have recreated the interview questions in the form of a Google Forms survey. All shortlisted auditioners must fill in this form to be accepted. https://goo.gl/forms/Douzw2ji5X1TVoDO2 -
Interviews start today.
Hello, Square here with an update. So, only three days until the deadline! That’s exciting. We’re gonna have to prepare ourselves for the casting. I will be PM’ing all that are shortlisted with an eight-question interview. If you haven’t received one yet, just wait a bit and I’ll get to you. -
Updated Richard’s title + status of writing and character designs
Richard was recently changed a bit. His title will be changed from The Private to The Tool to reflect on this. His audition lines will remain the same. The writing for Outcast is going swimmingly. The first episode’s script is ready. I am currently working on 60-second intro trailers for each character. Abby’s, Brick’s, Cruise’s, Geoff’s, and Sierra’s are already done. Character designs are also going well, but slow. Around 1/3 of the cast have designs, and I have ideas in my head for the rest of the cast. -
Community Discord server online
A discord server has been created for community members and fans! Here we can talk and chat until the deadline on the 23rd! Without further ado, here’s the link: https://discord.gg/QyC5pCS
Kidd Riffley is one of the hosts of Outcast. He is very modern and acts like a stereotypical TV host. He has an exciting tone of voice that entertains and catches people’s attention.
“Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to a little game I like to call… Outcast!”
“Team Waterslide. With your lack of teamwork and inability to get along, you have lost this challenge. As such, one of you will be eliminated from the competition. Take a moment to reflect on the decisions you have made here… and vote for a teammate to eliminate.”
(angry) “Harriot! You know how I feel about cheating in my game!”
Kim Riffley is one of the hosts of Outcast. She is like the more sinister, dramatic version of Kidd. She has the same modern and entertaining tone, but also seems to savour any drama that happens.
“I smell a little bit of drama goin’ on! What’s happening over here?”
A cynical, yet sharp teenage girl with dreams of becoming a real police detective. Although Abby is the youngest character in the roster, she is quite grown-up and mature. She is an intelligent, British person, so that should show in her tone of voice. She also tends to act a little sarcastic sometimes.
“Don’t worry about that. If I can get enough leads, I will solve this case.”
“That’s a lie. You don’t even have to be a detective to know that’s a lie.”
(when someone is pounding against the unlocked cafeteria doors trying to get inside) “But… couldn’t they just… open the door? Seriously! Just open the door!”
A large, intimidating man with the aim to crush the competition. Simply put, Alek is the manliest man who ever manned. He has a strong, energetic voice that tends to be quite over-the-top, and is also very direct. Feel free to yell as loudly as possible.
“Letting me win, eh? I won’t complain. See ya at the finish line!”
“This is completely unacceptable! Sierra, I demand a rematch!”
“You and I may be strong, Brick, but the two of us can’t hold ‘em off alone!”
A super dramatic pirate who dreams of only one thing; treasure! Blondebeard has a very over-the-top pirate voice most of the time, and is bursting with enthusiasm for adventure! He also likes to make everything dramatic whenever he starts narrating, whether it be the present challenges or his past.
“Me first mate, One-Eye Joe, will be taking care of things in me absence. He can’t see very well, but I assure ye he be keepin’ a real eye on things!”
(super-dramatically) “The Blonde Beauty was a world wonder to me, an idol I craved ever so much. Every day was a constant struggle for me, blurring the line between life and death unless I was on the Blonde Beauty. And now… it’s gone.”
(volunteering to sacrifice himself for the others in a challenge) “Ye flatter me, but I’ve already made up me mind!”
A supportive, happy-go-lucky young maths nerd, not quite used to the real world. Brian has a very high-pitched voice, and is very easy-going and friendly toward other characters. He tends to get nervous and intimidated around larger characters like Alek (Brick is an exception).
“I-I noticed you were on a tight schedule so I fired myself out of a cannon! I was aiming to land safely into the water, but a sneeze at the last second caused the angle to go off by approximately 0.0032 degrees… and now here I am! In the sand. With a headache. Ow… ow ow ow… I think I need the medic.”
“No way… we’re not leaving you behind!”
(emotionally) “I… I’m sorry! I… just can’t leave my lucky ruler behind! Forgive meeee!!”
Although he isn’t smart, this hefty firefighter wants to protect everybody! Two words. Austrian caveman. Have as much fun as you want with this.
“Thank you very much for being kind! Me Brick will make lots of friends here!”
“Henry! It is very dangerous to stand on table! You should get down now!”
(sincerely) “Don’t worry. Me Brick will protect you all. I keep you safe!”
A serious, no-nonsense middle-aged woman with her company on the line. Britty is a grown woman in her 40s, the oldest of the cast. She is straight and to-the-point. She is the type of person to take things seriously and act efficiently. She has little patience for mucking around.
“You’re supposed to be the hosts here. You’re meant to show your position as the ones in charge around here, and you let yourself be fooled around by this lowlife?”
“Do you think all of us are here to have fun? To laugh and giggle about like children in an amusement park?”
“I’m sorry, but I have far too many important things in life for me to come any less than first place.”
A famous, yet antisocial celebrity rapper glowing with coolness. The quickest way to describe Cruise’s voice is to compare him to Garnet from Steven Universe. Chill, rarely talks, and an absolute savage. Voice actor must be able to rap well.
“And it’s not just any fancy food, either. This is a specific fourteen-course meal they give out to groups of celebrities before a big event, like a performance.”
(rap in response to Danny) “You tryna go all out and diss the greatest on a whim, but you’re vulnerable to ridicule with your spaghetti limbs.”
“I’m sure they’re good people… but I can’t really bring myself to trust anyone in this scenario. In the end, we’re all competing against each other, and we’ll be constantly betraying and backstabbing each other in order to win the game.”
Even though he’s a great person at heart, this guy always tries to act intimidating! Danny is a friendly, considerate guy at heart, but hides this under fake aggressiveness. He has a rather high-pitched voice, which tends to crack under pressure.
“Alright, Danny. First impressions mean everything, so if there’s a time to assert dominance, it’s now!”
“If nice guys come last, then I won’t act like one!”
“What about me? I’m strong too… Look, look, I’ll prove it! One, two, three, four! I declare a thumb war! Uh.. um… I retract my declaration for a thumb war! You win!”
A wise woman who believes in always “staying on the right path.” Erin speaks very clearly and enunciated, and has a very wise and patient demeanour. She’s a bit like a mom towards other characters, especially Opal. Has a Swedish accent. (note: the accent list on CCC doesn't include Swedish or Other, so it is left as Any.)
“When somebody goes out of their way to help me, I always take it upon myself to return the favour. ‘Assist and be assisted,’ after all. So Ashleigh, anything you need?”
“Oh. You’re… mute, aren’t you? Do you know sign language?”
“I live by a strong moral code that I cannot break under any circumstances. If I do, then I stray off the right path and never return. Or at least that’s what I believe.”
A trendy, outgoing woman bursting with energy and beauty, with a few unhealthy habits. Evie is a very energetic girl, and full of charisma. Whenever Evie loses her temper or gets emotional, her lines should be delivered in a humorous way. However, there might be some moments where Evie has to act seriously and emotionally.
“Wow, somebody had a bad break-up.”
“Haha, of course not. I’m trying to limit my diet. How else am I meant to maintain this slender form?”
(enraged) “Don’t touch me! You ruined my nails and I won’t forgive you!!!”
A rather half-hearted woman who lives a laid-back life and doesn’t care too much for anything. Gaia just sounds like she’s done with absolutely everyone and everything. Coffee and murder.
“<sigh> How long am I gonna have to stay here?”
“That cannot be healthy.”
(when Winter is crying on the floor) “Yeeup. I can relate.”
The kind inventor with ambitious designs, accompanied by his robot pet. Garry has a polite and patient demeanour. He is a man who is happy and content with his life, but can be easily exhausted during physical activity.
“Hull’s intact, engine’s functional, everything’s working, Toby!”
“I mean, to be honest… a million dollars might really help fund my projects…”
“He’s going to try and protect us! Don’t do it, Toby! He’s too strong!”
Geoff is very weird. His voice is no exception. Geoff. Basically, he’s not much more than a joke character.
“Geoff!”
(in quick succession) “Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff Geoff.”
(distant) “Geeeeeoff!!”
A true moodmaker and athlete, who always believes in fair play. Henry is an African-American man. He is very sporty and outgoing, but also friendly and approachable. Very much a protagonist.
“Don’t feel gutted if you lose or just don’t stack up to others. It’s all part of the beauty of competition. Games were made to be fun. Sports were made to be exciting. And competition was made to be challenging! Let’s enjoy it all together!”
“No lock? What kinda bathroom doesn’t have a lock!?”
“Hey. Thanks for stickin’ with me in the challenge. It was fun, you know? We should try it again sometime, just… doin’ it together! Know what I mean, friend?”
An introvert who prefers to play things solo, gifted with incredible climbing skills. Indy has a soft voice, and keeps to herself a lot. May not stand out all that much. Tends to talk to herself.
“Alright, Indy. We gotta find a safe space to lay low… let’s get somewhere high up to get our bearings. …And I’m talking to myself again.”
“I’m just gonna make it clear. Even though we’re a team, I’m still gonna be playing for myself.”
“I’m sorry, I’m just not interested in an alliance at all.”
An insane lunatic who relishes the idea of ruining everybody else’s fun. Joy is freaking crazy. Give her voice as much energy as possible. Make her enjoy other people’s sadness as much as possible.
“I couldn’t care less about my own fun - I just wanna ruin yours!”
“Hey, it’s okay! I know a real safe spot we could hang around in and hide from those dumb clowns! Come on, you trust me right?”
(teasingly) “Ooh, what are you afraid of, Winter? Perhaps… ghosts? Or vampires? Or the dark? Or perhaps… me!?”
A calm and collected man who sees life as just a big game. Linus doesn’t care much for feelings, and is very focused on the game. His voice is very serious, and can get quite harsh when he needs to be.
“Well, I like to consider everything as one big game of chess. Every piece has their own abilities, strengths, and weaknesses, so the player must utilise them with top foresight and decision-making skills to make the best possible move.”
“I don’t think you really understand the gravity of the situation, Henry. This is a game where only one person can win. Not two. Not three. One. Do you know what that means?”
(frustrated) “Hold your horses and stop being so god-damn reckless! You’re costing us the game! If we lose this challenge, it will be your fault. Do you understand?”
A young woman brimming with optimism, almost never seen without a smile. Unfortunately, Mia struggles with autism. It’s hard for her to socialise and know what to say most of the time. This uncertainty should be reflected in her voice. Don’t forget the optimism though!
“I know things look bad right now, but… I’m sure… things will get… umm… I-I dunno what to say next…”
“We just gotta keep smiling! Stay optimistic, right?”
“I can’t sleep here. These covers are yellow! It’s… it’s too… yellow!”
A rather secluded, but adorable girl due to her inability to speak. Because Opal is mute and only communicates in sign language, her “voice” will be a voice-over that appears whenever she uses sign language. It should be somewhat young and high-pitched, but with a mature yet friendly tone.
“I’m really happy! I almost never get to talk to other people like this! There are so many things I wanna vent about and gossip about and… everything! Can you let me do that?”
“Staying on the right path is tricky, but with the correct guidance, anybody can do it! Can I help you?”
“It looks like you have a bright future ahead of you.”
A man from the little-known country called Farkland, who speaks with some strange habits. Richard is a living dick joke. Almost all of his lines have sexual innuendos hidden in them. Make sure not to make them too obvious, but still make them funny to those who pick them up.
“So, it looks like we’ll be sleeping together, huh?”
“That’s impossible… because I brought protection!”
“Ya, I was being real gentle with her, taking it nice and easy, but then she started to go all out, and now I’m wet all over!”
A nonbinary young adult who loves the nostalgia of 8-bit video games. When voicing Riley, try to sound as gender-neutral as possible. They are one of the nicest, most pleasant characters in Outcast, so remember this.
“The problem is, only one of us can win the million dollars. We can’t all win at the same time.”
(sincere) “It’s fine. It’s really fine. Why would I be mad at you?”
“Oh geez, this got really awkward all of a sudden…”
An intelligent young girl who’s not afraid to manipulate her way to victory. Although this won’t show much in the first half of the season, Ruby is actually the main antagonist. She should have a deceiving tone in her voice whenever she is trying to manipulate others.
“Ruby Hart, ready to claim victory!”
“Oh come on, Sierra! Just think about it! I mean, they’d never expect to find us two in the wrong bathroo- oh no they found us.”
“I think we should form an alliance! I swear, you will not regret this decision!”
A charming gentleman who relies exclusively on luck. Russell should sound like a gentleman, but not actually be a gentleman, if that makes sense. He is the decoy antagonist for the season. He acts very charismatic and nice, but hiding beneath him is a devil.
“Some people tend to overthink with these types of games, when all you really need, is plenty of charm, and a handful of luck.”
“It’s really easy to say you just wanna have some fun, but when stakes get high… things can get a lil’ intense.”
(deceivingly) “It’s okay. You can trust me.”
A hotheaded, competitive athlete aiming for the top. Sierra is a real hothead. She is very competitive, and is always aiming for number one. She really hates losing! She should show lots of frustration when she loses a challenge but high amounts of satisfaction when she wins.
(competitively) “Oh my gosh, are you kidding me? I clearly made it first! ...What!? A draw!?”
“Alright! Whatever the challenge is, I’m ready for it!”
“Ruby, why are we in the boy’s bathroom and why did you suggest this?”
A rather misunderstood woman who believes that the wind should make her decisions for her. Sora is loony, foolish, and a huge airhead (excuse my pun). Although she will sometimes try to push her “wind” agenda onto her team, try not to make her sound too annoying.
“Whenever I want to go somewhere, I simply go high into the sky and parachute down, without steering at all, and let the wind take me wherever it wants to take me!”
“The wind must have chosen you to be my husband! Now let us make the most of this decision, and kiss.”
“I can feel the wind blowing in the direction of these doors, so by its dictation, we shall enter!”
Garry Cooper's robotic pet. Like Pikachu, but with a slight electronic filter. Filter should be subtle and not too obvious. And if you don’t make Toby as cute as possible you will immediately fail as Toby.
(happy mew)
(angry growl followed by mewl)
(sad mew)
An ambitious guitarist with an infectious mood that gets everybody to rock out! Vulture should sound just like a rockstar, but more empathetic and sensitive. He may not look it, but he’s a great guy, and he is fun to be around. Feel free to have as much fun as you want with his voice.
(singing) “And that’s the way the muuuusic goes!”
(optional: play along with a guitar)
“Alright Riffleys, spill the beans! What kind of people am I gonna find here?”
“Hey, I think it’s about time we all decided on our team’s secret handshake.”
A meek young woman afraid of anything you can imagine, but has the courage to make a change. Winter is possibly the most “kawaii” of the cast. When voicing Winter, try to create a good balance between humour and emotion.
“It’s okay… I… can handle it… I think… I hope… d-don’t worry about me. I came… to get stronger… that’s why… I won’t run away anymore…”
“Agh! What was that!? Oh, it was just my own shadow. ...AAAGH! MY SHADOW IS REALLY SCARY!”
(almost crying) “But… why me? Of all the people to sacrifice yourself over… why me?”
A mysterious woman who woke up with amnesia, and has no memory of who she is. From the moment Xara wakes up in her introduction in Welcome to the Carnival, it’s like she’s been born again. Remember, she has no memory of who she is or used to be, why she’s here, or what’s even going on, so this should be reflected in her voice. As she eventually recovers her memories little by little, she will progressively sound more confident.
“Summerspring? Outcast? …Reality show? None of those things… sound familiar at all.”
“Sometimes, little flashes of memory come to me, and then… suddenly… it’s gone.”
“I don’t see the relevance… but I trust your judgement.”
Ashleigh is a huge pushover at heart. She has a soft, friendly voice, but also sounds a little shaky and nervous practically all the time.
“I’m sorry, I can’t talk. I have to deliver half a dozen more people here…”
“You guys look like you’re having so much fun! I wish I could join you…”
(definitely overworked) “I’m fine! Really! I’m not overworked at all!”
Please. Give Enrique the sexiest, hottest accent possible. We all need some sexy medics in our lives, whether you know it or not.
“You two! The patient is recovering and will be waking up any time soon!”
“I’m sorry but… I’m afraid you’ll never see out of your left eye ever again. But on the plus side, guess who gets to wear this eyepatch?”
“Haha, I don’t mind being called beautiful every now and then. It reminds me of why I was put here on this earth.”
Buster doesn’t speak a whole lot. And given that he’s a very minor character, you rarely hear his voice. But when he does talk, he speaks in short sentences and is straight to the point.
(sternly) “This is the last time, Harriot.”
“Stay put, vermin. I don’t want you causing any more trouble.”
“Oh hell no. I ain’t dealing with that thing. You’re on your own, Kidd.”
A man who practically begs to get in on the action, and makes sure he always gets what he wants. Harriot is a streetwise, gangster man, with a very stereotypical Brooklyn accent.
“How would you like to be sold on the black market? Because if you don’t give in, that might happen sometime soon.”
“There’s a skylight in the kitchen! That’s how I broke in.”
“Hey, lemme in! Did you guys barricade the door!? And I have a name, by the way!”
