Nue's Next Newest Show
Project Overview
(This project is PG-13 and has slight profanity)
More roles to come! This comic is still in the making, and I'm still figuring out characters! I also already have some voice actors for the other roles!
This is a passion-project comic that I’m developing with the goal of creating something distinctive and engaging. I want a full cast of voice actors for a comic dub to help bring the characters and story to life, and I’m also the co-creator and owner of an original podcast not connected to the project. This is entirely my own work, and I’m committed to developing it further and seeing how far I can take it.
Beyond the story itself, I want to create a fun and welcoming space where a genuine fandom can grow. I’d love for it to bring together all kinds of people from different corners of the internet! Artists, animators, writers, voice actors, cosplayers, furries, gamers, roleplayers, animation fans, comic fans, and just general nerds who enjoy getting invested in a world and its characters. I think there’s something really special about building a community where people can share their creativity, make friends, create fan works, joke around, and have fun together.
Nergal is a Nue and the newest employee at Duke’s Circus, performing as the circus’s resident magician. Born with natural magic, they have spent their life honing their abilities and take great pride in their skill. They are intelligent and observant, but surprisingly naive about the world beyond what they know.
Despite their intelligence, they are still learning to navigate the circus’s strange personalities and chaotic environment. Their curiosity often outweighs their caution, while their straightforward nature can make them unintentionally blunt. They may understand magic better than others and are still discovering where they fit within the circus and what else it might have to offer.

“Wait. Do that again. No, I know how it works! I just want to see if you can do it differently.”
“I know what I’m doing with magic. Everything else… I’m still figuring out.”
“That shouldn’t be possible… which means there must be something I’m missing.”
Duke Kingston is the flamboyant lioness running the circus with an iron paw, a silver tongue, and absolutely no shortage of opinions. She’s theatrical, witty, and loves teasing newcomers with pet names like “little one.” Getting older hasn’t slowed her down...though she’ll happily remind everyone that her joints are far more dramatic than she is. With decades of experience and plenty of bite left in her, Duke always knows how to steal the spotlight. Oh, she's also a drag king.

"You think you can tell me how to run my circus? Ha! I’ve been doing this longer than you’ve been alive, little one. Now move before I decide you’re more useful as dinner.”
“Oh, you’ve got quite the nerve! I do adore a little spectacle. Just remember, darling, my patience is a tightrope, and my appetite is considerably harder to satisfy.”
“Look at you… already stealing the spotlight. Careful, little one, you might just make an old lioness proud.”
Amber is a bright, eager cockatoo and one of Duke’s performers, known for her boundless energy and stubborn determination. Though she can’t fly and has clipped wings, she refuses to let that stop her from performing. She specializes in ground-based acrobatics, using ropes, hoops, poles, and suspended apparatuses to climb, swing, tumble, and launch herself through the air with Crimson’s help. Her routines are daring, fast-paced, and occasionally a little reckless. She’s quick on her feet, quicker with her mouth, and can be a little rude when her enthusiasm gets ahead of her manners. As the comedic half of their duo, Amber brings the chaos, optimism, and occasional bad decisions to Crimson’s more tragic and serious nature.

“I don’t need wings to fly! Just a good grip, a little momentum, and, Crimson, you better catch me!”
“Okay, okay… maybe I got a little carried away. But you have to admit, it looked impressive right up until I hit the floor.”
"I said I can do it, Crimson! You don’t have to keep hovering over me like I’m made of glass!”
Crimson is a gruff, monotone macaw with the soul of a poet and the attitude of someone who has already attended her own funeral. She treats every minor inconvenience like a personal tragedy and has a knack for turning everyday misery into beautifully dramatic poetry. She rarely raises her voice because she doesn't need to, her flat, exhausted delivery somehow makes everything sound worse. Despite her constant gloom, Crimson is fiercely committed to her act with Amber, serving as the deadpan counterweight to Amber’s endless enthusiasm. Strangely, when Crimson is having a “good day,” everyone else should probably be worried.

“Maybe tomorrow will be different. …I wouldn't count on it. But maybe.”
“Amber, darling, if you’re going to ignore my warnings, at least try to fall somewhere aesthetically pleasing.”
“‘And when the final curtain falls, remember me beneath these walls...Oh, don't look at me like that. I said it was a draft.”
Waverly Club is the quiet beauty of Duke’s magician group, an elegant illusionist who lets her work speak louder than she does. Soft-spoken and composed, she can seem reserved at first, but she’s genuinely passionate about performing and takes great pride in perfecting her craft. She loves the process of creating an illusion just as much as the applause afterward, often disappearing backstage for hours to practice, experiment, or refine a new trick. Beneath her graceful exterior is a curious, hardworking perfectionist with a mischievous streak; she may not say much, but she certainly knows how to leave an impression.

“Oh, goodness… everyone’s looking at me. Um… I’ll just pretend they aren’t.”
“Hehe… you looked right at the wrong hand. I’m sorry. That was a little mean of me.”
“I-I hope you don’t mind if I practice over here… I work a little better when it’s quiet.”
Skavelle Spade is the smallest member of Duke’s magician group and somehow the strongest. A sharp-eyed mentalist with an almost unsettling ability to notice everything, Skavelle tends to say exactly what they’re thinking, including things everyone else would politely leave unsaid. They aren’t trying to embarrass anyone; they’re genuinely curious and often don’t understand why people get so uncomfortable when their secrets are brought up. Cheerful one moment and eerily perceptive the next, Skavelle has a habit of staring just a little too long before casually revealing something they noticed. Their tiny stature makes them easy to underestimate, which they find absolutely hilarious. Behind their innocent curiosity is an absurd amount of strength, making Skavelle the magician group’s smallest member and possibly its biggest problem.

“Pick a card. Any card. Now hide it somewhere clever… Oh. That’s where you put it?”
“Wait, that was supposed to be a secret? Nobody told me!”
“You can fool the audience. You can fool the other magicians...But you can't fool me!"
Casey Heart is… a bunny. Technically. More specifically, they are a bunny somehow trapped inside a suitcase by magic. Nobody knows how it happened, why it happened, or how Casey is still alive in there, and Casey is absolutely sick of being asked. Despite their ridiculous situation, Casey has developed a remarkably bad attitude, snapping at anyone who treats them like a novelty. They’re sarcastic, impatient, and more than a little full of themselves, often acting as though being mysteriously fused to luggage is everyone else’s problem. Somehow, the suitcase even seems to have become a perfectly normal part of their life. Casey doesn’t understand it either, but they’ve decided that if they’re going to be stuck this way, they might as well make everyone else miserable about it.

“I’d say I’m going places, but technically someone else has to carry me there.”
“I’m trying to get out of this situation, but apparently I’m a little… boxed in ...oh, I'll stop"
“My life has taken a terrible turn. You could say I’ve really… lost my handle on things...get it?"
