NARUTO Manga Fandub - MAIN CHARACTER CASTING
Project Overview
Naruto is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. It tells the story of Naruto Uzumaki, a young ninja who seeks recognition from his peers and dreams of becoming the Hokage, the leader of his village.

Naruto Manga Fandub is a fan project organized by a team of friends that are looking to dub the entirety of the first two arcs of the NARUTO manga. We have a team in place to help with sound design, editing and everything the project will need, but we're missing one thing! VOICE ACTORS! That's where you guys come in! We're hoping to find some incredibly talented voice actors to help bring this fandub to life!
We are currently only planning to cast for the first 2 MAJOR ARCS in the manga!
- The Land of Waves (Chapters 1 - 33)
- The Chunin Exams (Chapters 34 - 115)
That is because these 2 arcs alone are 115 chapters! Voice actors who audition for and sign onto this project should be prepared to be committed! If you aren't a passionate fan of NARUTO, then this might not be for you, because it's a fan project that is NOT OFFERING PAYMENT and is purely for fun!
This casting call currently only includes the most important characters to the fandub! Other roles will be added to this in the coming days, so be sure to follow the project for more updates!
Audition Guidelines & Rules
1. Good mic quality with minimal background noise. You do not need to have a professional setup but it's important that your audio is clear and has minimal interruption!
2. Naruto is a long-running manga series and we are looking for committed voice actors that are good communicators and are passionate about their roles. This is a big project to sign on for, because major characters have a lot of dialogue!
3. You don't have to sound exactly like the English dub actors from the NARUTO anime! You can do your own take! We do recommend drawing inspiration from or replicating the voices, but you're welcome to do your own interpretation of the voices!
4. If you see other people getting cast in roles and your audition has not yet been chosen, do not fret! For some roles, especially the major ones, we want to make sure we get plenty of auditions through before we come to a decision! Certain auditions may be picked instantly if we believe we've found exactly what we need.

Naruto is generally a very simple minded, easy going, cheerful person. He often rushes things, and misses obvious things such as Hinata's constant shyness around him. In the beginning of the series, Naruto is very fun loving, often pulling pranks on fellow villagers

Sasuke is cynical, antisocial, and resentful. As a child, Sasuke was kind and cheerful, but that all changed when he was witnessed the massacre of his clan at age 7. Now, Sasuke's only goal in life is revenge, and he'll do whatever he needs to get it.

Sakura is intelligent, courageous, and compassionate. Though her quick temper might make her easily irritated with others, Sakura has a kind heart underneath, caring for her friends above all.

Iruka is described as being both big-hearted, and soft-hearted. This is most often seen through his teaching methods, often keeping a watchful eye over his students as they progress.

Hiruzen Sarutobi is the Third Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village. Hiruzen is a firm believer in the Will of Fire, which holds that all the people of Konoha are a family and that the Hokage is chiefly responsible for that family's well-being.

Orochimaru stood out as a genius - his talents, knowledge, and determination were considered by Hiruzen to be that of a prodigy seen only once a generation. According to Tsunade, Orochimaru had a twisted personality even as a child. His sadistic attitude was presumably due to the death of his parents.

At times, Kabuto can seem quite open, more than willing to approach people and always confident in his own words and actions. By his own admission, he is an introvert who doesn't like to be looked at and who wants to stick to the background.

Jiraiya was generally light-hearted and gregarious, making jokes at his own expense and giving a mirthful laugh about it afterwards. In his interactions with others, he liked to pretend to be smug or selfish, upsetting them so that he could further rile them up with his humour.

A ninja of the hidden leaf that possesses genius level intellect. Shikamaru is naturally a lazy person and his inclination is to do as little work as possible. As an Academy student and even during his early career as a genin, Shikamaru is able to get away with this, spending his days sleeping, watching the clouds, or playing games of shōgi and Go. He is a member of Team 10 alongside Ino Yamanaka and Choji Akimichi. Asuma Sarutobi is his sensei.

From her childhood, Ino has been as a confident, friendly, bold and outspoken girl, sometimes lashing out at others if their personal habits bother her. She is generally more motivated than her team-mates Shikamaru Nara and Chōji Akimichi and tends to take charge of them.

Chōji's dreams of a girl who admires him for his appetite. Chōji is a very kind, polite, and caring person. These characteristics are said to be his greatest strength by both his father Chōza and his former teacher Asuma Sarutobi while his greatest weakness was his lack of self-confidence. His best friend is Shikamaru Nara, who is also his teammate in Team 10 alongside Ino Yamanaka.

Despite Asuma's very blunt personality, often calling his students what they were unreservedly, a "glutton" (Chōji), a "loud mouth" (Ino), and a "slacker" (Shikamaru), he had a very good relationship with all three. He is a very chilled out ninja who enjoys a good smoke. He is married to Kurenai Yuhi and is revealed to be the son of the Third Hokage.

Hinata is timid, soft-spoken, thoughtful, polite and very shy, often using appropriate name suffixes. She is kind, a trait that Neji used to consider a flaw, and dislikes competing and fighting. Possibly as a result of her father's contempt for her, Hinata lacks self-confidence, but is very hard working. She is a member of Team 8 alongside Kiba Inuzuka and Shino Aburame. Her sensei is Kurenai Yuhi.

Kiba is often short-tempered and impulsive (in stark contrast to his team-mates Shino and Hinata), and can be prone to making mistakes when he becomes agitated in battle. He is best friends with his nin-dog companion Akamaru. He is a member of Team 8 alongside Shino Aburame and Hinata Hyuga. His sensei is Kurenai Yuhi.

Shino Aburame is a calm, collected, and solitary person, who is quite mysterious. He is a member of Team 8 alongside Kiba Inuzuka and Hinata Hyuga. His sensei is Kurenai Yuhi.

Kurenai is unyielding, honest, and simple. She is also portrayed as the "big sister type". She is married to Asuma Sarutobi and is the Jonnin leader of Team 8.

"I will be watching over Hinata from now on... but are you sure it's all right? Hinata is a member of the Hyuga main family... working as a genin may cause her to be surrounded by death."

Lee is extremely energetic, single-minded, and hot-blooded. Despite his very passionate nature, Lee has also shown strong instincts, able stay focused at the mission at hand, rarely losing his composure, and notice the presence people around him, even recognizing his friends.

Outside of his initial feelings towards his clan, Neji has been shown to be extremely serious and mature for his age, and to have great self-control. In battle, he is able to stay relatively calm in most situations and carefully look at the situation at hand.

Tenten is depicted as naturally inquisitive and observant, with a personal dream to become a legendary kunoichi like Tsunade. This has led to her to become strongly opinionated about women, defending that girls can be just as skilled as boys in taijutsu when Neji thought otherwise.

He is best known for his "nice guy pose," which consists of giving a thumbs up, winking, and smiling with teeth so white they give the proverbial "ping." Despite his odd mannerisms, Guy has shown to be capable of being as serious, ruthless and decisive as a mission's success demands if needed, as seen during the Invasion of Konoha and his battle with Kisame Hoshigaki.

Because of the Shukaku within Gaara, Gaara has insomnia and does not sleep. He spends the nights awake by himself. Due to the demon's influence, Gaara was shown to have violent and sadistic tendencies in battle demonstrates a psychotic personality when he laughs and openly mocks Sasuke for being weak.

Temari is generally overbearing, if not blunt, toward those around her, rarely afraid to speak her mind. Temari is known as the cruellest of the kunoichi, but she does have a caring side and is not above showing concern for others.

Kankuro is shown to be an incredibly cocky character, but it's not as if he lacks the skills to back up his words. He simply has a lot of pride for his village and understands how powerful he and his siblings are.

Zabuza was initially portrayed as aggressive, arrogant, cruel, cold and ambitious, willing to become Gatō's thug to gain enough funds to start a second coup d'etat on the Mizukage and have the nation under his feet, and kill anyone who stood in his path, including plotting to kill Gatō once he had received enough funds.

I can't think of a more fitting destination for a demon ninja, can you?! I'm told there are many demons down there - of all shapes and sizes! Oh yes, I should fit right in! You, on the other hand, Gatō... Well, I fear you're in for a long and very painful eternity!

Haku was a good-hearted, compliant, and eager shinobi, believing that a person becomes truly strong when they have someone important to protect. Despite his talent for battle, and incredible abilities, Haku disliked needing to kill others in his role as a tool, and avoided doing so whenever possible.

Hayate seemed to be a calm and composed individual. He was also described as being an individualist, and gentle person. He also had a great sense of duty to his village, as he risked his life to spy on Kabuto Yakushi and Baki.

As an adult, Genma Shiranui is shown to be very calm, impartial, collected, proud and very casual. He is never seen being boisterous, or lost in difficult situations. Zaku was arrogant during his appearances and thought of himself as a strong fighter. Unlike his teammate, Dosu Kinuta, Zaku was easy to provoke in battle. He often times did not listen to his opponents when fighting them such as in battle against Shino Aburame and is quick to attack him.

Although Baki is described to be loyal, kind and respected, like many Sand ninja, he is ruthless and stern in battle, as they are all trained to put accomplishing missions before comradeship. With his experience in battle, he holds a lot of confidence in his power.

Blunt and sometimes harsh, Tazuna has been described as a diligent man. He is also a drinker. Despite deceiving Konoha into believing the mission was less dangerous than it actually was, Tazuna was willing to guilt-trip the shinobi into carrying it through. Even knowing how risky it was to defy Gato, he was willing to take steps to build a bridge that would free his village from his influence, and was moved when his grandson also came to defy Gato.
