Myths of Unova - A Pokemon Comic-dub

Project Overview

Synopsis

Hey everyone! My name is Kyle and I am the director of Super Luck Studios. We are a new youtube channel that aims to make high-quality comic-dubs, first starting with the "Myths of Unova" series by "Ky-nim". I have already assembled a team of talented VAs for this project but there are still some roles that need to be cast. That is where YOU come in! 

What is Myths of Unova?

This is a comic dub of Ky-nim's original series "Myths of Unova" which tells the story of Nina and her journey across the Unova region. Ky-nim has given us permission to dub her comic.

Feedback & Critique

I provide feedback - both positive and negative - on every audition. If you do not want me to publicly post feedback on your audio, leave a comment on your audition - or PM me - requesting me not to provide critique. If you want feedback on your audition but want it sent privately, private message me before submitting your audio. I'd be happy to accommodate you. 

Requirements 

  • GOOD MIC QUALITY: It doesn't have to be high end, but I don't want to hear any peaking, popping, or background noise
  • Contact Info: Please have a discord, skype, or email for communication (discord is preferred)
  • Patience/Commitment: This project will be long term. If you can't commit for at least 1 year, please don't audition. I do not want to recast any VAs.

  • "New Major Role Added" & "Deadline Extension"

    Hello everyone! I have 2 announcements: 1.) Since there have been so many wonderful auditions, I am going to extend the deadline by one week so I can hear even more of your awesome voices! I don't plan on extending the casting call any further, so this is your last chance! The deadline is now July 28, 2018. 2.) A new major role is now open (and to any gender)! He's the only major role on this casting call, so make sure to try out for him! I can't wait to hear all of your auditions! Also, I provide feedback on all auditions. Zach is the the main character's starter Pokémon and a major role in the Myths of Unova series. He is bubbly and energetic, though he sometimes lets his emotions get the better of him; when Zach is younger he may cry over over small things, and as he gets older he may act carelessly to defend his friends at the cost of his own safety. 


Preferred Voice Type: In the first two lines, Zach will be younger and pre-evolved. I would like his VA to sound anywhere from the 7-12 year old range. Zach has a lot of "adorable" moments so the cuter your delivery, the better your chances! The third line will be an excerpt from later in the series where Zach is evolved and older. I would like this role's performance to reflect a teenager or young-adult's voice. This last line is optional (though you shall receive brownie points for submitting this line). ~Open to any gender.~

Range: Medium-High (Child)

  • (Worried/Concerned | Starts to cry and hug Nina at the end of the line)

    Nina... I don't want to be l-liberated. Please don't leave me Nina! 

  • (Starts off cheerful since he won a battle, but then he realizes he just destroyed the main character's bedroom by accident)

    Nina, Nina, look! I won again! I... did I do something wrong??

    I can be strong enough to protect you and everyone else on the team! You always took care of me, so I should do the same!

The main protagonist's father. Due to the nature of his work, he must work away from his family, and rarely has time to see his daughter, Nina. He doesn't seem to realize how much his daughter misses him, and wishes he would visit at least on her birthday. He's one of the greatest minds in his field of work (archeology) but simple matters such as his family life may pass over his head.


Preferred Voice Type: Middle aged, but he's still a child at heart

Range: Medium-low - Medium-high

  • (Starts off cheerful, but turns apologetic | Calling his daughter on her birthday)

    Haha Nina, I always know! It's just that I forget to call home... and sorry I won't be able to. I really wish I could though.

  • (Comforting | Reassuring)

    Dear, you've given enough apologies already. I'm sure Nina understands that at least. But it might take time for her to open up again... just be patient.

The first pokemon the main protagonists catches in the wild. He is quite posh and gentlemanly. Kind and caring, though his fuse can run short when the younger members of the cast whine too much.

    Hmph... Fair enough, But next time m'lad be more considerate. It is rude to attack someone who is napping.

Imagine every flamboyant "gay" stereotype and turn that up to 11. That's Burgh, the 3rd Gym Leader of Unova. He is sass incarnated, and helps the main protagonist chase down Team Plasma in the first half of the series. His hobbies include modeling, bug-type pokemon, and vocaloid music.


Preferred voice type: Slight Valley Girl would be ideal (Show me SASS!!!)

Range: Medium - High

  • (Sighing; "Listen up girl" tone)

    Okay sammich girl, listen to me. You got a serious case of daddy issues that we need to straighten out.

  • (Lecturing/serious)

    I don't care what your daddy says. You are a strong independent girl on the inside.

  • (Upset, but because he's worried and cares)

    I felt bad about leaving you out in the woods so I went to check on you... and I saw you right here, standing still with some strange aura, and then you just fell over!! You better be damn grateful I caught you in time before you dirtied your hair... or worse!

The dean of Nacrene University and husband of Lenora, Nacrene City's gym leader. Kind and good-natured. He appears multiple times throughout the series, and uses his knowledge of Unovan mythology to assist the protagonist on her journey. 


Preferred Voice Type - American/English Accent (unlike the other characters, Hawes can have a non-American accent)

Range - Medium - Medium-High

  • (Introducing himself | Friendly & welcoming tone)

    I'm Hawes, the dean of Nacrene University. Your father and I are collegues. We worked on some of the exhibits here together... I know your probably here for the badge, but feel free to ask me anything!


  • (Asked Why a Skeleton is Missing it's Head | "Those silly kids and they're pranks" tone)

    Oh that? Haha...well... it's a traditional prank pulled by the university's Paleo-Society. They'll be returning it soon enough.

  • (Injured, but trying to ignore the pain | Sense of Urgency)

    Urgh... I'l be ok, dear. But we need to move fast, a group called "Plasma" took off with a dark orb.

Josefina (aka "Jojo") is a darumaka who joins the main team at route 4. She is very head-strong and acts as the "mother" of the team. She may tease other characters in the show, but she really does care about her teammates. Jojo grew up in the deserts north of Castelia City in a community that mainly speaks Spanish, but her character speaks English for the majority of the series.


Preferred Voice Type: Hispanic Accent (While I imagine Jojo to have a Mexican or Puerto-Rican accent, Colombian or any other hispanic accent will suffice... audition with whichever you can do most convincingly)

Range: Medium-low - Medium

  • (Starts off pretending to be nice, but then the gloves come off; said as if she'll enjoy burning the other character)

    Okay sugar, It's lovely to hear you talk but... the next time I hear you complain, I might try to singe your little leaves off. Comprendes?

  • (Smug | Asked how it feels to be the "mother" of the team)

    I never really considered myself a motherly person but...It's not so bad. These children do need some discipline.

Rex (aka "Rey") is a Sandile that joins the team in the deserts north of Castelia City. He enjoys teasing the other characters (especially the main protagonist) but he actually has a very chill demeanor. Like Jojo, he was raised in a community that mainly spoke Spanish, though the majority of his dialogue will be in English. 


Preferred Voice Type: Hispanic Accent (While I imagine Rex to have a Mexican or Puerto-Rican accent, Colombian or any other hispanic accent will suffice... audition with whichever you can do most convincingly)

    Back in the gym... why did you have Jojo go against Excadrill? You knew that she could be at a disadvantage. Hell... Even I would have been a better choice!

    Yo, trust me amiga! I’ve been cheering on the sidelines for a while... before evolving, I let that slide because I wasn’t up to snuff... ‘til now. I know I’m not super effective against the dragon types that the Lil’ girl got... but I’m fairly confident I can run them to the ground.

  • (Upset/Ashamed that he lost a fight)

    La proxíma vez que vea a ese pinche pendejo puto, le hago mierda ese brazo y a toda su pinche prole...
