Project Overview

The project I'm working on is for an OCT (Original Character Tournament) which has different mediums of artists paired against one another to tell a story with their chosen characters. Please note the names listed below are not their official ones. This is to keep obscurity from my fellow OCT members and keep the cast a surprise. Only the protagonists names are correct.

The medium I'm using is a small visual novel mixed with a few player choice mechanics. I'm making the story set in 4 acts: Prologue, Chapter 1, 2, 3. The scripts however will be sent out of order based upon priority.

The setting is on a multi-dimensional train known as the October Express and is a murder mystery based story.

The protagonist is an officer that was tasked to deliver a prisoner to a far off facility held within it's own unique reality in space time. The train is the only way of travel there with no estimated return date. The officer will meet a variety of other characters ranging between magical creatures, aliens, and eldritch beings alike.. Or other ordinary humans! But things take a dark turn when a sudden murder aboard the October Express is afoot. And it's up to the protagonist and various other guest characters to team up and solve the mystery behind it all!

All the characters listed will be available to casting calls (closed characters are currently in WIP format), but I will be updating them slowly. And expect more characters to come up in the next couple days!

  • Last Deadline Extension/Scripting Delays

    Alright, apologies for keeping it open for so long without an update! I'm extending the deadline for one more week in hopes to fill out the last open role that I do kind of need and I'd rather not have to attempt it myself with the workload I have already. Unfortunately, I also have not finished the current script so it may take a bit longer for the voice actors to receive their scripts when all the characters have been cast. However, this project WILL get finished I can assure you. I've just had a lot on my plate, but this is definitely a project I still want to see through! I have closed Donovan's role for any new auditions, as I think 12 is a fairly good variety and I'll hopefully be casting the va soon. I'll keep the other roles available for now as I've slowly been going through them. Again, thank you all so much for having found interest in my little project and my apologies on it's constant delays. I've listened to every one of your auditions countless times already and you all have brought such a variety of different takes to the characters that's just a wonder to hear! Until the next update, I'll see you then!

  • Deadline pushed back a week

    Hey guys, second update for the time! I'm really happy to see so many awesome people auditioning for this little project of mine and wanted to thank you all again for your work! Unfortunately there's still a few roles that haven't been auditioned for that I'll need to find voices for so I'm pushing the deadline back a bit. Currently, I've changed it to next week. It's possible I will push until the end of the month, but I can only keep this call open for so long before I need to make the final cast selection. As stated before, I do have other characters from my previous chapters I'll need voices for, but I will probably leave this cast call open past the deadline so that I can update it later with those roles as they aren't as important right now. Thank you all for taking your time and offering me your voices. They've all been incredible and it's going to be incredibly difficult to choose!

  • Minor Update: Donovan Audition Line tweaks

    First update post! First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who's submitted an audition so far across all roles! You've all done a wonderful job and I wish I had time to comment all of them as they come, but at the moment I’m currently busy with finishing the current script and assets outside of work. I've still got a few more roles to add/edit for open casting so hopefully those will be up soon! Now, the reason for this update. I was talking to a friend of mine who giggled at the fact I used kekeke for his laugh in the audition lines. That’s how I’ve been writing them in my works since I want his laugh to be a bit unique. That said, I’ve now replaced them with simple 'cackle' and 'chuckle' notes. For those who sent in auditions for Donovan, you don’t need to redo your auditions. Your voices were all wonderful! However, if you’d like to do a retake of his laughter, you are free to do so! If you do decide to do a retake, I’d like a few variations of his laugh if possible so long as they maintain a smug or maniacal sound to them. Just send an mp3 file to my email with your casting call username and I’ll be sure to give it a listen! Usually fairly serious, tend to over-think situations. The straight man of the lead duo who's constantly overworking himself with long nights and no days off.

  • [Suspect is being a bit snarky with their remarks to your questions] (Raising voice slightly) Don't derail this conversation any further. I would like to ask why you were in a car practically on the opposite side of the train where your seat was... But I guess I should first ask... Why were you equipped with a firearm and knife?

  • (Disregarding) And we don't want to hear it. I'm here to officially place you under arrest for the Murder of Joanne Stone.

Is just a kind elderly woman. Soft spoken and warm, but has her moments of dark eeriness to them as she peers into her customer's glass and gazes upon their futures to see their grim fates... I like to think her laughs is the hearty 'Ohoho' sort, but I've left it open in the script to your own interpretations.

A woman with a two-faced personality. Normally appears to be fairly shy and quiet, an intellectual who prides herself in her studies… But can let loose an almost chaotic and possibly murderous personality when you least expect it.

A 35 year old cop who uses his wildcard tactics and razor thin focus to do the job his own way. Only trusting in himself to get the job done right. Can be really chill and laid back until the job demands it, but can also be stubborn and reckless in his stances/actions.

An older woman with a low somewhat raspy voice. She is often quite sarcastic and cocky, almost playful and condescending at times, but when caught off guard her voice can shoot up much higher. She has a strong southern accent.

  • Joan Stone! I am The Siren. My associate here is Viktor, a mortician gifted with the ability to see spirits. Currently I'm being suspected for your murder.

  • Awwhhhh. Gonna cry, Prince? You really will do anything people ask of you, huh? Like a puppy dog. I dunno why you’re looking at me like that. It’s admirable that you’re so… Uh… Willing to please. But really, you look just as weak as your psyche. Even Viktor is bulkier than you, and that man looks like he’s one sour patch kid away from dissolving.

  • (Uproarious laughter) "Oh my GOD! Me? Me? You think I’m gonna be a narc of all people? Honey, sweetie, darling, you don’t think I’ve committed a few felonies of my own? If I ratted you out, I’d be sending myself right to prison with you! Don’t be silly, kid.”

Donovan is a murderer and a cannibal. An entity of unknown origin that has the abilities of shadow manipulation, levitation and has the help of a shadowy 'friend' in the form of four extra arms. He tends to keep his voice calm and smooth with a bit of smug energy. And is somewhere in the lower voice range. Despite their off-putting appearance, they sound polite and hardly raises his voice. Yet can sound eerily dark when he wants to be.

Also since I'm limited to three voice lines. If you’d like to provide various takes of his laugh please add those to the end!

  • My, MY officer Prince. You're simply *brimming* with confidence today~ What's the good news hmm? Did the big man upstairs finally give you a new murder case to solve? Or have you finally decided to throw in the towel?
