Project Overview
Moving On is a dark family comedy series about an intelligent drunk named Gregory Gillis who is given one final chance to live with his ex-wife, her new partner, and two kids he barely knows in a small RV trailer, but only if he can move on from his old ways. This project is 18+ and features swearing and vulgar humor!

Carl Gillis is Greg and Clara’s oldest child and a major character in Moving On. He is optimistic and emotionally open, being the only character who is initially happy about Greg’s return. He is usually polite and tries to avoid conflict as often as possible, although he gets defensive about his insecurities, such as being called out for his bandage that he wears for attention, even though it did originate from a real injury. Carl, much to the distaste of Greg, is gay, which he faces heavy ridicule for, particularly from Greg. However, he has found validation from a large online following as a content creator, which does make him quite arrogant at times.

Maebeline Gillis, known almost exclusively as “Dirt,” is Greg and Clara’s younger child. She is cynical and independent, being an urban explorer who spends most of her time outdoors, which is where she got her nickname. She is blunt, sarcastic, and emotionally closed off, being the one who resents Greg more than anyone else and calls him out the most for his behavior. She dislikes being called “Maebel” or “Mae”, and continues to use the nickname given to her by Greg despite their initially troubled relationship. I would envision her having a voice similar to Raven from Teen Titans or Lydia from Beetlejuice.

Clara Bell (formerly Clara Gillis) is Greg’s ex-wife and a major character in Moving On, and the mother of Carl and Dirt. She is the one who initially takes pity on Greg, offering him a conditional second chance to live together in her RV if he can quit his drinking problem. Her decision is motivated largely by concern for their children rather than faith in Greg himself. Clara works as a kindergarten teacher and suffers from an extreme fear of aging, which is why she regularly attends therapy, where she met Antony, her therapist and current partner. I would envision her having a Jennifer Coolidge-type raspy voice with a strong southern accent.

Gregory Gillis is the central protagonist of Moving On and the father of Carl and Dirt. He is a self described “technology genius” whose life has gone downhill due to his alcoholism, poor decision making, and failure to take responsibility for most of his actions. At the start of the series, Greg is homeless after his divorce from Clara, but is given a second chance to live with his family in their RV as long as he can quit his drinking problem. Greg is loud mouthed, offensive, and insecure, but he occasionally displays moments of honesty and vulnerability, particularly around his children, and spends the series slowly trying to improve as a person and father.

Antony is Clara’s partner and a major character in Moving On, who acts as an antagonist and moral foil to Greg. He is practicing therapist who presents himself as gentle and extremely kind, although he has a dark relationship history that he tries to hide from everyone, particularly Clara. He also rides a low bicycle and enjoys past-times such as berry picking and frolicking in the meadows.
