Clara Bell (formerly Clara Gillis) is Greg’s ex-wife and a major character in Moving On, and the mother of Carl and Dirt. She is the one who initially takes pity on Greg, offering him a conditional second chance to live together in her RV if he can quit his drinking problem. Her decision is motivated largely by concern for their children rather than faith in Greg himself. Clara works as a kindergarten teacher and suffers from an extreme fear of aging, which is why she regularly attends therapy, where she met Antony, her therapist and current partner. I would envision her having a Jennifer Coolidge-type raspy voice with a strong southern accent.
