MONSTERS M.I.A. - Round 2

MONSTERS M.I.A. - Round 2

Project Overview

Welcome to Round 2 of auditions for Monsters M.I.A. everyone! All of you have done a fantastic job thus far and knocked our socks off with your Round 1 auditions! So good we just couldn't decide on a single voice actor to fill the roles that you all auditioned for. What an incredibly talented group you are!

As you may know...Monsters MIA is a delightful, family-oriented quest where the players are recruited as MIA agents and tasked with a crucial rescue mission. Think Ghostbusters meets MIB, with a splash of Monsters Inc.—Fun for All Ages!

From a production standpoint, Monsters M.I.A. will be similar to a podcast or radio drama, complete with voice actors & sound engineering, including sound effects and ambience. As a division of Tripvia Inc., a smartphone audio tour company, we have extensive experience delivering professional audio experiences.

Communication

Once you're selected, we will contact you through the CCC platform with further instructions. After that we will communicate via email, where the thread can be easily followed. We will be readily available to answer any questions you may have or provide feedback as you go.

Submission Instructions - Please Read Carefully!

**Please provide only ONE TAKE for your audition**

Although this has been covered and I am confident this group knows the know, I will reiterate. Please record in a quiet, sound treated space using prosumer mics, XLR is preferred.

We don't mind if you perform the type of noise reduction on your files that you would submit to a client for professional auditions and projects, but please do not add effects that will change how your voice sounds...just the basics.

This time we have NOT provided character similarities with video links for the roles being auditioned for. You have all made it this far based on your own talent and merit, so we are excited to hear your incredible interpretations of the character drawing from your imagination, experience and creative genius!!

If you have ANY questions prior to submitting your audition, please feel free to reach out for clarification through DM or by commenting on the Monsters M.I.A. project at the bottom of the page. We want all of you to have the best very shot at showing off your amazing talent, so don't be shy if you aren't sure about...anything!

Voice Talent Cast For Roles

Of course this will be covered when we reach out to the voice actors selected, but I'll throw it out there now as well. If you are cast for the role, please submit your audio recordings in .wav file format to our company email address, which will be provided to you after casting. If a file is too large to submit via email, we prefer to use Google Drive, but are flexible.

We may occasionally ask for line re-dos, but we do this sparingly and only after great consideration - we realize your time is valuable, and we won't ask for anything we can't work around in edits.

Lastly, we are planning on producing multiple episodes for this project, we'd like to cast people who will be able to stick with us for a while. We're incredibly proud of the acting talent we've worked with and formed strong relations with over the years. When starting a new project, we frequently return to voice actors we've worked with in the past.

Good Luck & Remember to Have Fun...They're Called PLAYS For a Reason!

Latest Updates

  • Roles Have Been Cast

Thank-you to all of the wonderful voice actors that took the time to submit auditions for the posted roles. They have indeed been awarded to Susan Robb (Dorris) and Jo MacDonald (Gary/Jekyll/Hyde), and have been posted on the original Monsters MIA project page.

  • Images for the Final Product

Although this 2nd Round of auditions was meant to be private and unlisted, intended for those who had already auditioned in Round 1, some clever CCC members have indeed found their way here!

As we may move the casting call for these 2 roles into the public forum, and a question regarding the utilization of AI Generated images, (a hot topic of discussion during Round 1) has been brought up in the comments section...I'll make sure to address it!

Upon release, our game will indeed utilize AI generated images for the characters, created after the roles are filled and based on the voice actors chosen. This is why the majority of the roles have no ethnicity or accent specified.

AI voices will not be utilized in any way as part of this project. As a fellow voice actor and human being, I can assure you that your authentic voices are respected and safe with us, meaning they will only be used as advertised, which is to breathe life into the characters within our game in a way only us humans can.

The future is coming at us pretty fast and there are valid concerns when it comes to our voices being duplicated and used without our knowledge and permission. It does happen and those dishonest souls who choose to do so should face severe consequences for such actions.

As a final note, everything you are reading within this casting call was created by real people. The characters, the scripts, the casting call itself, comments, replies, updates and every interaction with the wonderful members of this community.

Paid: Flat Rate 200 CAD
cast offsite

Restaurant Employee (Gary) - Jekyll/Hyde

Male - Young Adult 17-24 - Non-Caucasian - Any Accent

Dr. Jekyll - Overly nice and friendly, happy, bubbly and a bit of a health nut

Mr. Hyde - He's a bit mean, impulsive, sarcastic, blunt and to the point

The Jekyll/Hyde character is an average employee working in a restaurant, with his own distinct personality. He quickly develops split personalities, also distinct and separate from the original, that are constantly fighting with each other after Jade snaps a pic with the M.I.A. 's Sorcery Scanner, which brings about the transformation (not physically changing form) for all in the restaurant to deal with.

Remember this is an audio game, so the weight of the character is all carried by the outstanding performance of the voice actor - without animation to help!

* As stated in the submission instructions, Please provide Only One Take for this audition *

Dorris - Bank Teller & Incognito Troll

Paid: Flat Rate 50 CAD
cast offsite

Dorris - Bank Teller & Incognito Troll

Female or Non Binary - Middle Aged Adult - Any Ethnicity - Any Accent

Bank Teller - Dorris is pleasant, average people...but is still a character for a game with the main demographic aimed at children up to about 13 and families ,so not necessarily too average? Would an undercover troll have quirks? She will only have a line or 2 before her transformation.

Troll - There should be a very distinct change in her voice as a Troll, perhaps a deep loud voice - but you decide what your inner "Outa Control Troll sounds like!

Dorris's character is a bank teller, but is really a Troll who is hiding one of Marv's baby monsters in the vault for Jesssica. When Jade snaps a pic of her with the M.I.A. 's Sorcery Scanner, her Troll persona quickly takes over and she becomes aggressive, excitable, yet amusing.

Note: Dorris's Troll personality should be animated and not too slow speaking. Give it all you've got and break the mold for what we'd expect a troll to sound like. Creative, over the top, maybe a bit too caffeinated! Remember this is an audio game, so the weight of the character is all carried by the outstanding performance of the voice actor - without animation to help!

* As stated in the submission instructions, Please provide Only One Take for this audition *

3 Scenes - Approx 75 Words

  • [To her co-worker] DORIS (NORMAL VOICE) Well I’d be happy to! I can teach them all about interest rates!

  • (TROLL) WHAT WANT. [JADE Whoa. Sorry, come again?] (TROLL) WHAT WANT.

  • (TROLL) NO! DORRIS SHOW YOU UGLY AND MEAN! [Dorris roaring, grunting, smashing things]
