Microfaun - Pixie and Brutus (Spring 2023 Casting)
Project Overview
My name is Reece Cowan. I run the Microfaun YouTube channel where I create comic dubs in the form of shorts.
The channel has acquired over 40k subs from the start of this year alone! Videos gain anywhere from 30k to 2M views per video.
The channels growth is increasing exponentially. As a result, I am able to afford to hire voice actors to further increase the quality of the content! We project to hit 100k Subs by this Summer.

I'm looking to hire two voice actors to fulfill the roles of Pixie and Brutus from 'Pet Foolery.'
Of course the channel produces many comic dubs other than 'Pet Foolery,' so you'll have many opportunities to work with me again as Pixie or Brutus or any number of other characters your voice might fit! Of course, all at the same pay rate as described below.
Payment: This is why you're here! I want to make sure all actors are adequately compensated for their time and talents, so here's a detailed breakdown of how this will work.
Your rate of pay is $30 per hour. Your time starts the moment you join the session and ends the moment you leave. The minimum payment you will receive is $30. So regardless of whether you spent 1 hour or ten minutes, you will be payed $30. Of course, any time over 1 hour will be at the regular $30/hr rate.
Payment(s) will be sent out via PayPal upon completion of the recording session(s.) Same day, by the end of the day -9 GMT.
The Job: Once you are cast, you will be given an invitation to the Discord channel where we will make our introductions and schedule a time to meet via Discord for live recording sessions with myself and the other actor(s). The recording session will take roughly one hour. You will be asked to screen-share your recording application only. You will never be asked or required to screen-share your entire desktop. Upon completion of the session all you have to do is upload the recording. There will be no need to edit your takes.
Again, as stated above, the channel does a lot more than Pixie and Brutus comics, so you may be invited to fulfill many other roles as they become available. All of these roles will follow the same work and pay structure. $30/hr, one ~1hr session per week.
Requirements: Standard requirements are in play here. I'm looking for people with a quality recording setup.

- Clean acoustics (no reverb, echoes or background noise. Do not use noise reduction filters.)
- Ability to record at a minimum sample rate of 92 kHz .
When auditioning, please keep in mind that animation and energy are the names of the game when it comes to your performance. Try and use your body (without affecting the audio) to really perform the character. Adding body and facial motion can really enhance and add energy to your performance.
How to Audition:
- No actors under the age of 18.
- Do not slate your audition.
- Provide two takes for each line (submit all lines as one audition)
- Normalize your audio to -2db. (For those unfamiliar, this is not compression or speech leveling. The effect will simply be called 'Normalize' in most applications.)
- Do not apply any other filters to your audio.
- Upload the file in WAV with a 92000 Hz sample rate.
- Name the audition file with the following format excluding the [ ]: [Character Name] - [Your Name].wav
- Example: Pixie - Reece Cowan.wav

Character: Brutus is a grizzled veteran war dog. Adopted into a small family, he becomes a big brother to a little kitten named Pixie. Brutus often appears tough, cold and stern, and only ever shows affection and tenderness towards Pixie, whom he is very protective over. He does not hesitate to use his brutish image to intimidate anyone who tries to harm Pixie.
Voice: The original author describes Brutus' voice as being like that of Butch from 'The Good Dinosaur.'

While I don't expect anyone to perfectly recreate this voice, (as there's only one Sam Elliot), it is a great example of the type of performance I'm looking for.

(Is introduced to Pixie) You're very small and weak. If anything bigger than a squirrel wanted to hurt you, you wouldn't stand much of a chance. Guess I'll have to protect you.
(His thoughts as Pixies engages him in one of her creative fantasies) If I'm the Flower Captain, why am I in command of the entire Flower Army? Wouldn't that make me a Flower General?
(Being sprayed with water by another dog) H-Hey!! What's your major malfunction?!
Character: Pixie is an innocent young kitten full of boundless imagination and energy. A complete foil to Brutus' brooding nature. But just as Brutus has taken to caring and looking after little Pixie, she looks up to him as a big brother figure. She's often asking him questions about the world, and involving him in her escapades of curiosity and creativity.
Voice: Marie from The Aristocats is a good example for the octive that I want the voice to be in. Her performance is childlike but not babyish. Aside from the aristocratic tone, this is a good example of what I'm looking for.

Another great example would be Lilo from 'Lilo and Stitch' but with a far more care free attitude.
