Mega Man Maverick Hunter X2 Machina Dub
Project Overview
In 1993, Capcom released Megaman X for the SNES, it was the start of a new age for the Megaman franchise, and the dramatic change in tone captured many players. The X series would continue with many games after, until eventually ending in 2005 with Maverick Hunter X, a remake of the First X game. MHX was given redone graphics, and voice acting. The story was rewritten to be more cinematic, as a "rewrite" of X1 with future lore in mind. Maverick Hunter X was intended to be the start of a series of remakes for the first 6 Mega Man X games. But because of the financial decline of the past few Mega Man games plus Maverick Hunter X not selling as well as Capcom would've liked, the project was canned.
However, many Megaman fans still wonder what the rest of the Maverick Hunter X games would be like, how the stories would change. Would they be able to improve upon some of the less liked Mega Man X games? Unfortunately, I'm not a game dev nor do I have the time to become one, but I can sure make a machinima and a dub!
This project is an experimental Dub of Mega Man X2, attempting to create a "Maverick Hunter X2" in cutscenes alone. It is a combination of rewriting and dubbing cutscenes, while also including Machinima elements to have more cutscenes and make existing cutscenes more impactful.
Example Video (using MHX voices): https://twitter.com/i/status/1573250017737187329
This dub will stay as close to the canon of Maverick Hunter X1 and The Day of Sigma OVA as possible, while also including several rewrites for X2. If this project goes well, we shall continue onto X3, and so on.
Many roles in this dub might need to be reprised over possible years, I will mark such roles with *Reocurring* in their name.
PAYMENT INFO:
THIS PROJECT IS FOR FUN FIRST AND FOREMOST. I am paying because I know a lot of people put a ton of effort into these roles, and they deserve to be compensated for their effort and hard work. Also, it incentivizes more people to audition so we can have an ever better cast!
This is my FIRST TIME dabbling with a paid project. I don't make much money (12 an hour) so I can't spend too much money on this, hence the low pay. BUT I am a firm believer in getting paid for what you do.
So my pricing goes as follows, 2 cents per word, BUT all roles start at a base of 5$, and if the role's word count makes the price go over 5$, that's when the price starts increasing. This is a good way to make sure everyone is paid what they’re owed, but still get something out of this, while also not putting a gigantic hole in my pocket.
Payment will be given after all your lines have been submitted, but this can be negotiated if needed for personal reasons.
When you are logged in, you can comment, add submissions, create projects, upvote, search open roles, and way more. Login here.

Project page touch up
It was brought to my attention that the project page needed a touch-up in quite a few places with new info, so I did that. If you've already recorded or uploaded your auditions, don't worry about it!
Mega Man X is the titular main character of the Mega Man X series. He is a pacifist and wants to avoid all fighting if possible. However, he is not afraid to fight if he or anyone important to him is in danger. X's fighting potential is incredibly vast, he is prone to moments of incredible rage, and very few have seen it and lived.
X's distaste for fighting is rarely seen in-game, but I feel it is important to play into that aspect of his character with this dub and future X dubs. As such, X's voice should be a calm, welcoming voice, someone who would hear out anyone who wanted to talk. However, you should also have the range to get angry and show off X's hidden rage.
What could cause someone to go Maverick? To betray their brothers and sisters?
(Curious, worried))
I'll finish this! Right here! Right now! I will defeat you Sigma!
(Rage, Righteous fury)
Zero... If I ever go maverick, I need you to kill me. Promise me, please.
(Serious, and whistful)
Zero is a brave and strong Maverick Hunter, and the best friend of X. At the time of X2, he is "dead" but he re-appears in the finale, this role gets much more lines in later games. Zero is more laid back than X usually, but he holds many regrets deep within himself.
His voice should be cool, a guy who eases your worry simply by his presence. But he also needs to sound introspective, and have the capacity to get emotional at the drop of a hat.
Vile... You're nothing but a Maverick now!
(Stern, talking down to Vile)
Sigma! You should've studied the blueprints closer!
(Sarcastic, making fun of Sigma)
I'll make you pay for all you've done! Sigma!!
(Pissed off, go ham here)
Dr. Light is the creator of Mega Man, Mega Man X, and is considered to be the father of robotics. He is an older man whose failing health and old age took him far before X1.
Light returns in X's upgrade capsules, giving X words of wisdom and detailing the abilities of the many armor parts X obtains throughout the series.
Humans and robots living together in harmony and equality. That was my ultimate wish.
(Sorrowful, regretful)
Sometimes, peace cannot be achieved unless those who spread war are destroyed.
(Serious, mentor attitude)
My name is Dr. Thomas Light, I am the researcher who designed and built Mega Man X. X possesses great risks as well as great possibilities. I can only hope for the best.
(Explaining to someone, excited, but cautious)
Sigma is the big bad in every Mega Man X game, an evil bastard who refuses to die.
His cause started noble, but with every passing game, he becomes more and more insane.
Sigma has a powerful, overbearing voice that screams authority.
You say you believe in justice. But that's not true. You've only been led to think that. Nothing more!
(Fun evil mockery)
You are merely a bothersome insect X! It is about time that I crush you beneath my heel!
(Rage, about to fight)
The stronger you are, the more I want to destroy you... It was pointless to have Zero fight you, after all, you ARE the number one Hunter. You show no mercy for enemies or comrades.
(Evil, trying to cut as deep as possible)
As we are going to (attempting to) follow the canon of Maverick Hunter X and The Day of Sigma, Dr. Cain is dead. However, X still needs someone he can rely on to fix him and Zero up! Thus, we have decided to include Douglas in X2 in the place of Cain.
Douglas is a Reploid engineer and a valuable asset to the Maverick Hunters. He's a bit of a geek but in the best way possible. He can handle stress under pressure and isn't afraid to fight if need be.
Douglas should not have the generic "Nerd Voice". He should sound intelligent in a non-pretentious way. A bit of a higher pitched voice than the average person, without any rasp.
*Please note, Douglas will not make any more major appearances until X5, and it is unknown how long we will take to get there. It may be a few years before you will be needed to play Douglas again if you wish to reprise the role.*
Private Douglas, reporting in sir! I have been tasked to assist you in subjugating the remaining Mavericks loyal to Sigma! I am lightly trained in navigation, but my specialty is Reploid and Mechanoloid building and repair.
(respectful, trying to quickly get his point across)
At last, the Enigma has been completed! It's old, but we reinforced it with some devices... It should work fine... Well, we're ready!
(Relieved, yet cautious)It's hard to repair the bodies of X and Zero because they're still a mystery... But...why was only Zero's memory data deleted from X?
(Confused, but intrigued)
The Navigator is the same Navigator featured in the Day of Sigma, and Maverick Hunter X. I am unsure of if/how we'll use her in future games, so that's why shes listed as *Reoccuring (?)*
Navigator is strahgt to the point, and doesn't mess around. She has a deeper, mature voice.
Commander X… I'm sorry… You're the only one.
Make us proud Commander.
(Serious, almost mournful)
Commander, it looks like they were only scattered by our attack! Not destroyed!
Sir, please return to base so we can formulate a strategy.
(Panicked, but remaining calm)
Yes commander, just scratched. They didn’t do any serious damage, it seemed like they wanted to get in and out as fast as possible…
(Pained, pulling herself up)
Agile is the confident leader of the X-Hunters (In my canon), he is always mocking those around him, as he believes he is the strongest Reploid there is behind Sigma. However, his veneer of confidence is incredibly easy to crack, and after his first defeat, he completely loses it and goes mad against X.
Agile should sound incredibly cocky, like Vegeta x10. You should also be able to get MAD, maybe not screaming your lungs off, but still angry.
Don’t get careless Violen, his abilities are nothing to scoff at. We must make sure to defeat him quickly before he gets much stronger!
(Confident)
Your skills are nothing short of impressive, X. However, your quest shall end here by my hands!
(Confident, mocking X)
YOU!!! I fail ONE TIME, and look at what they did to me! Even after we successfully recovered Zero!
But now, I’m nothing but a ceiling ornament! All because of YOU!
Serges is Dr. Wily. Thats literally it.
To give more depth, he's a shrewd old man who wants nothing more than to rule the world, and he'll use any robots he can build or find to do it. Though he was the founder of the X-Hunters, he does not lead them as he believes it would be a waste of time away from his personal projects. He does offer his tactical know-how often though.
Serges should sound like a much more toned-down Dr. Wily voice. Not too crazy evil, but the crazy evil still being there.
If X is the main obstacle…
Then we will have to come up with a way to lure X to us… No matter the cost.
(Shrewd, planning something devious)
Hmph, your audio recognition software appears to be malfunctioning. Nevertheless!
(Talking down to X, annoyed with him)
Not again, not again, not again! Am I cursed to be defeated by Light’s damned robots!?
(Angry, old grudge being held up)
Violen is big and dumb. He's the brute force of the X-Hunters and isn't afraid to show it.
Violen should have a much deeper voice than the two other X-Hunters. I don't have much direction besides that, so do whatever voice you feel is right.
Hah! He may be strong, but he’s nothin’ compared to me!
(Confident)
Ah, ah, ah! Not yet! I still have to crush your puny skull in first! For the sake of the project!
(Mocking X, getting ready to fight)
N-No way? I lost!? Where did all that power come from? Aw crud, now the project’s in danger!
(Shocked, in pain, worried)
Bubble crab is a greedy individual who wants nothing more than to get more money, even if It means going Maverick.
The obvious joke is obvious here, but you won't gain nor lose points for doing it.
Simple, my friend. He offered me a good paycheck! And I’ve yet to get paid!
Of course! Money makes the world go round, and I’ll make sure I have it all!
I told you X! I'll get my paycheck no matter what! Not even the claws of death can hold me back!
Crystal Snail is one of the Mavericks of the second rebellion, sent to stall X while the X hunters work on "The Project"
Crystal Snail has an unknown origin, though he claims to be a traveling "Crystal Magician". The legitimacy of this claim is up to extreme interpretation.
Though his origin is murky, Snail is INCREDIBLY egotistic, and that needs to be portrayed in his voice. I don't have any specific directions with him, so do what you think fits!
Hah! Come to take the mightiest Maverick on last did you?
I am the magnificent Reploid, known far and wide, the protector of the sparkling cave. The miraculous “Crystal Magician”, the one, the only! Crystal Snail!
Excuse me!? Are you ignoring me!?
Flame stag is a noble warrior who refuses to fight Reploids weaker than him. During his time in the Maverick Hunters, he formed a deep bond and friendship with Boomer Kuwanger. He has been waiting 6 long months to get revenge against X for killing his friend.
You killed my friend! Now I shall reduce you to molten metal, and paint the sky black with your ash!!
Maverick Hunter X! Today is your last day on this earth! Fall to the eternal flames of hell!
It seems not even death can quell my fury... Lord Sigma has given me a second chance for revenge, and I. Shall. Not. Waste it!
Magna Centipede was a skilled Maverick Hunter who disappeared during The Day of Sigma. Thought to be dead until now, Centipede has been near completely brainwashed to be Sigma's loyal lapdog.
Centipede's voice is monotone and robotic during almost his entire appearance, but he has brief moments of regaining himself. Centipede should have a deep voice with the air of a veteran warrior, someone whos been through some shit. Balancing this with the robotic nature of his brainwashed speech is going to be a hard balance, but well worth the effort!
Analyzing… Target confirmed, Maverick Hunter X.
(robotic, 0 emotion)
X…! Kill me…! Please….! I can’t…! Control myself…! Graah!
(Struggling to talk, pained when talking)
Commencing Combat Procedures.
(robotic, 0 emotion)
Morph moth is... difficult to describe. Most of the time, Morph Moth is a cocoon who literally cannot vocalize words, only make noises and screech like a Kakuna. However, halfway through the fight, he transforms into his Moth form, and he has the personality of an elegant beauty model.
For his voice, I want you to go total ham on both ends of his personality. A complete and under goblin in Cocoon form, and a total narcissist in his Moth form.
(Cocoon lines)
1) Keheheheh….
2) KRIEEEEE-!!
(the same inflection as a screech)
(Morphed Lines)
1) BEHOLD! My true beauty!
(showing off, makes you wanna punch him in the face)
2) It seems… It's my turn to join the scrap heap…
(Whistful)
Overdirve Ostrich was stationed at a desert base and was given the task of launching experimental rockets loaded with the Maverick Virus. In a previous accident, he lost the use of his wings to fly, but his incredible ground speed made up for it.
Ostrich is incredibly cocky, as he believes speed defines all things in life, even worth. He should have a bit of squwak to his voice, but not too much. Aside from that, feel free to do whatever you want for his voice.
*Overdrive Ostrich Re-appears in Megaman Xtreme 2, and we currently plan to do that following X3, so you'll be called on again to reprise the role there!
Pretty crazy move there, jumping on that rocket! Not many Reploids are brave enough to jump onto an about-to-be-launched rocket.
To test your speed, X! I wanted to see if you could act fast enough to stop it, and I gotta say im impressed!
Look’s like I can even outrun death! Now let’s see if you can too!
Wheel Gator is a genuine maniac. A former Maverick Hunter who only stuck around for the thrill of killing Mavericks. Gator joined Sigma's rebellion when he realized he could kill anyone at any time if he went Maverick.
Wheel Gator should have a deep, gruff voice, with maybe a bit of rasp. The most important part is that Gator needs to sound insane. He is a psychopath who is two steps away from being a ravenous animal.
Oh look! Another Maverick Hunter come to die! Grahaha!
Brothers!? Grahahaha! I have no “brothers”, all I see is prey who jumped at the predator! In my world, it's eat or be eaten!
My hunger… I feel my hunger’s call!
Your final act shall be as my next meal, X!
Wire Sponge was stationed at a weather control center, and told to wreck the weather systems. Wire Sponge acts like a spoiled child, who wants only to have fun and destroy everything around him.
I don't want him to have an actual child voice, maybe somewhere in-between surfer dude, and whiny douche.
*Wire Sponge Re-appears in Megaman Xtreme 2, and we currently plan to do that following X3, so you'll be called on again to reprise the role there!*
Huh? Who’re you, I’m just having a good time man! Dancing to the rhythm of the rain!
Oh yeah!? I’d like to see you try dude! Come face the fury of The Green Demon, Wire Sponge!
No more fun and games dude! I’m gonna destroy you whether you like it or not!
