An ambitious one-man project nearly 2 years in the making, Run From Royalty is a animated action-adventure story about dragons, that is now in need of some amazing voice talent!

STORY
This story is set in a kingdom of dragons, exiled underground after losing a war with humans above-ground 700 years ago.
Run From Royalty stars a young fire-breathing prince dragon named Rell, and his electrically-charged sister Princess Suith, who hatched 30 minutes before him.
Rell wants to be a king so he can get the authority to bring his kingdom back to the overworld and reclaim the glory of dragon-kind. Unfortunately, since Suith is older, she is next in line for the crown, not him. Her anxiety and ineptitude deems her unfit for a queen, frustrating everyone, and her very position being a roadblock preventing Rell from realizing his dream.
What follows is an extroadinary, character-driven tale of faith and redemption between two siblings of polar opposites, with plenty of laughs, drama and action along the way!

I've been working on this project relentlessly and passionately for the past near-2 years.

You may audition under these conditions...
1. You must be 18 years or older
2. Have a good quality microphone with no background noise or as little as possible. Don't add effects to your recordings or remove background noises-- I'll deal with that!
3. Remember to put emotion in your performances.
4. If you win a role, I ask that you please retain it in case I create more stories with these characters in the future (which is the plan!)
5. Please keep in touch and be easily contactable, and if we got a session planned and you're facing difficulties, let me know as soon as possible so we can reschedule. I don't want to have to wait a week or two to get a response. DON'T AUDITION if you can't commit!

After you receive a role, I'll send you the script and you can record your lines in either two methods:

1. A live recording session where I direct you over Discord voice-chat. This is the most efficient way, so I can give you instant feedback and clearly describe how I'd like your lines to be delivered.

2. If you're not comfortable with voice-chat and think you would perform better by recording privately at your own leisure, you're free to do so. Using the project animatics as reference, record each of your lines 3 or more times in slightly different interpretations, send them all to me and I'll pick the takes I like most! (you're free to edit your recording to include your favourites/best takes if you'd like) Bear in mind however that this isn't the most efficient method, as this process can generally take longer than voice-chat, I cannot give instant feedback if I need you to try again, and it may be difficult to direct your performance through text.

This project is purely for fun and experience. It is still in its infancy, and I need to wait to see if the project gets more attention/support first before I consider payments. Also, I currently have no budget or funding for it, so payments are a bit too difficult at this time, which I would absolutely love to do! We'll see if things change down the line if the project gains traction, but for now, these are free roles. For the record, this episode will be released on the internet for free.

Suith is the heir to the crown, much to the dismay of her and others. Shy, clumsy, reserved, extremely anxious and underachieving, she is unfit to be a leader, and the prospect of being the future queen puts an unbearable amount of pressure and stress on her. Couple that with neglect from her brother, and a lack of faith from her father, and she is very lonely as a result.
She has a special fur coat that collects static electricity from friction, which she can use to shock things with high voltage, although her anxiety often triggers this power by accident like a tic.

  • [Doing a public speaking, but is VERY nervous about it. Stutters sometimes]

    (Nervous) "Um, hi... I hope you're doing okay... Uh, *clears throat* I-I will take great pride in uh, succeeding my father when my time comes to lead you. I am very... very excited, and... uh..."

  • "Rell, why don't you just stay home and be the next king?"

  • (frightened, about to cry) "*whine*, I don't know if I can do it!"

Rell and Suith's father, and the current leader of the underground kingdom. Alamor takes his job very seriously, making him quite gruff, impatient, and sometimes depressed. He cares deeply for his kingdom, although he is prone to making rash decisions out of desperation, something his wife used to keep him in line with before she died. And without her, he can't seem to grasp the fundamentals of being a parent. He is unhappy with his daughter being his successor, and not particularly keen of Rell's reckless goal of bringing his kingdom back to the overworld.
He lives by the rule of the Royal Monarchy, not willing to bend it even if it would help him and his family in the long run.

  • [Consulting with his advisor]

    "We've always had powerful leaders up until this point, even in exile. So why is Suith so... timid? Rell is the complete opposite of her."

  • "Rell, the dragons lost, okay? We don't know what's up there or how much has changed in the past 700 years. I would forget about doing that"

  • [Scolding his son]

    (Angry) "Obey your king, Rell! Back to the castle, NOW!"

Age range: Early childhood (6-8)

Personality: Mischievous, enthusiastic, arrogant

Accent: North American

(This character is a child, so I'm looking for someone who can imitate a child-like voice. This especially goes for females who want to voice him, too!)

Main character Rell as a little dragling! A proud fire-breathing prince with a burning crest, he is strong-willed, bright-eyed and energetic, although egotistical and very arrogant. He has a wild imagination, and holds an ambitious dream: to have his beloved kingdom take back the world from the humans that banished them 700 years ago, and reclaim the glory of dragon-kind. The only way to make that happen is to take the crown... Unfortunately, his older, less competent sister Suith is the heir, so she will have the crown first, not him, and that sours him quite a lot. His jealousy particularly makes him neglectful and sometimes mean to his sister. In the meanwhile, he lives his dreams through (rather reckless playtime) with his toys!

  • [Drags his nervous sister to a public speaking and makes an announcement]

    (Proudly) "Loyal followers! As you've heard, Princess Suith is gonna be the next queen! Let's hear what she has to say about it!"

  • [Watches Suith recieving a tiara, jealous that he doesn't get a fancy headpiece too]

    (Annoyed) "How come I don't get a tiara?"

  • [Leans on the window sill and sulks]

    (Depressed) *Deep sigh*. "We're gonna be stuck here forever. She's just gonna sink this kingdom even further beneath the ground."

Species: Human (imaginary)

Age range: Middle-aged (35-50)

Personality: Evil, dark, villainous

(I'm looking for a talent who can manage a deep voice and a strong, epic war cry, as if you're charging toward an army of barbarians!)

A figment of Rell's imagination, how he believes what man-kind was like during the war with dragons 700 years ago. Portrayed as sinister and murderous (to a rather exaggerated scale), with the intent to retaining the human's reign over the world and keeping those pesky dragons exiled.

  • "You dragons didn't learn from last time, have you? Your reign on Lumaya ended 700 years ago. We exiled you beneth the earth, and we'll do it again. This world is rightfully ours."
