Kaldheim week 1
Project Overview
Wizards of the Coast has begun releasing online web fiction for Magic: the Gathering once again! It is our goal on the Voice of All podcast to bring these stories to life through audio.
This week we are casting for roles in the Kaldheim stories Travelers and Know Which Way the Wind is Blowing. Kaldheim is their brand new norse inspired world and we have many major roles to cast. You can read the stories here:

If you're interested in hearing our past works, you can listen to all of them here:
https://www.voiceofallmtg.com/
We can also be found on Spotify, Soundcloud, Stitcher, YouTube, iTunes, and Google Podcasts! We are looking to keep up with the release of Wizards' stories as best as possible and will release our version the second following Friday, so expect to be cast this week and have your lines to me within a few days. This schedule may be slightly different for the time being as they are releasing two stories a week, but our schedule will remain one a week.
As a general casting note, I do not typically have any voice requirements in mind for characters. I would much rather hear your interpretations and choose from among them.

A confident, roguish duelist with a mysterious past, Kaya has the ability to become partially incorporeal—allowing her to slip through solid items and physically interact with ghosts and the spirit world.
Kaya is a firm believer that life is for the living. The living should make the most of their lives and pursue what they want while they've still got time, and find their own peace before death. If you die with unfinished business, well, that's probably your fault. And if it's not...perhaps she could help you...for a price. In the current story, Kaya is venturing to the new world of Kaldheim to slay a monster, hired by an unknown individual. It seemed simple and heroic... at first.
Kaya is a planeswalker and a major character in Magic. Should you accept this role, you will be asked to reprise it in future stories.
"Is this place always so quiet? I've been in tombs that were livelier."
"Strange, old—I get all that. Still would have expected to see some animals. A squirrel, at least. You have those here, don't you?"
"You let it get away!" [snapping at a god and she doesn't care]
Niko Aris is a new planeswalker from the greek-inspired world of Theros. Born to a destiny of great achievement as an athlete, they trained every day but grew tired of being a pawn of fate. Now so good at throwing spears that they virtually cannot miss, they intentionally lost the tournament. In that moment of freedom, they planeswalked for the first time to the world of Kaldheim, where they now learn what it means to be free.
Niko is a planeswalker and a major character in Magic. Should you accept this role, you will be asked to reprise it in future stories.
"You'd intentionally bring winter down on the uncursed?" [surprised]
"Those in power embellish their deeds, or their admirers do it for them."
"I'm not Kannah. I don't serve Fynn, and I'm not an omen. I'm just a person. If you're convinced that destruction follows me, then send me to Starnheim with a warning so they're prepared."
Asi is an old man accompanying Inga and her Omenseekers on their quest for adventure. In truth he is the god Alrund, lord of the cosmos, in disguise. As Asi, he appears as a "doddering grandfather" fond of telling tales and myths and makes good company. As Alrund, please maintain the same voice but with an air strength, confidence, and authority.
As a god of the realm, Alrund may appear in future stories. If he does you'll be asked to reprise the role.
[As Asi] "Perhaps a lively tomb is not so rare, when one is a hunter of spirits."
[As Asi] "The Aldergard is an old and strange place. The Omenseekers are legendary explorers, but even they seldom travel this far into the forest. Too far from the sea, from their ships. Inga Rune-Eyes has sight beyond most mortals; she has knowledge of every location to which her clan members have gone. Even she knows little of this place, though."
[As Alrund]
"Never have I seen such filth dare to desecrate these realms! Even the demons of Immersturm are not so foul."
"I must consult with my kin. There are too many riddles which need answering. But if you are set on pursuing that creature, the longship of Cosima will aid you in this quest. I will see to it."
Inga Rune-Eyes is the leader of her band of Omenseekers. Though blind, her eyes are marked with magic runes, allowing her unnatural sight and knowledge of everything her clan has ever done. She leads with confidence, armed only with a lantern and her magic she uses to shield her allies.
"Boy, what did you see? What is doing this to your town?" [gently and slowly, so as not to alarm the child]
"I want a war party ready to set off within the hour. Skeleton crews aboard the ships until we return. Everyone who can be spared is going into the Aldergard forest."
"Alrund! I—I had heard the sagas, of course, but I never thought . . ." [shocked whisper]
Birgi is a goddess in disguise. An excellent storyteller, and accompanied by her cat Threat, she delights in causing fights which may result in even more stories to tell.
As a god of Kaldheim, Birgi may reappear in future stories. If she reappears, you will be asked to reprise the role.
". . . But Valkyries fly always as a pair, and Sail-Rend knew her choice: defile her blade with the blood of family or earn a place of honor in Starnheim. Once-friend, once-brother, Kinkiller emerged from the dust and smoke frothing like a beast, his clan marks scarred and smeared beyond recognition—and Sail-Rend . . . dropped her weapon . . ." [Telling tales by the fire]
"What kind of mortal steals into another world to play with cats, when they can do what you do?"
"I'm not here to tell you what to do, little mouse. I did this so you may know us. Our joy, our rage—how little lies between. Freedom means nothing unless you know what you risk."
A mystic of the Kannah tribe, who are cursed to have storms follow should they ever leave their home forests. He is wise and friendly, accompanying and advising Niko throughout the story.
"We hold until Fynn Snakehunter calls the end of frith," Kjell muttered. "I'll prod him along before winter starts to bite, don't worry."
"We're here for council, not war. Frith demands you share food and a roof with anyone who asks. Maybe we posture a bit. Show off for the gods, but no worse. You never know if the beggar you snub might be Alrund in disguise."
"Yes! Burst upon them before they can fly away! Niko Valkyrie-puncher!"
Orhaft is a Vedrune, an Omenseeker rune-priest. Xe leads this band of Omenseekers on their journey, here to bargain with the Kannah and provide guidance. Wise and wary, xe is described as brown-skinned and solidly built, but elegant, with a cleanly shaved head and blue runic tattoos. Xe earned xer moniker "Stoneback" by not noticing a sword in xer back for several hours in battle.
"Do you realize what you brought to Fynn? You've done harm, outsider, proving that a Valkyrie can be trapped."
"The gods thought that. The Cosmos Serpent once traveled freely through all realms, preying on the monsters that make prey of us. Whether the Skoti planned to keep the serpent for other ends, or leave it to grow mad in its cage, those bonds are slipping. Or they've been cut."
"Leave Snakehunter to me. Return to the ship once you've said your farewells. I will give you what you ask for."
