Heroine for Hire!
Project Overview
INTRODUCTION
Hi there! This is a casting call for Jellyfish Parade's newest visual novel, Heroine for Hire. It's an otome game wherein the lively main character, Lyre Harmoniel, deals with a chronic, yet relatable issue: the inability to keep a job. Thankfully, there's a person willing to hire her: the esteemed knight, Veris the Valiant! ...or so she thinks.
There are six (or seven if Lyre and her twin are cast separately) roles total. The Harmoniel family which include Lyre and her twin sister, Lute, (one role) and their mother, Timpani, Sir Knight Veris Vermillion, Princess Ivis Marsoe, Princess General Esmerelle Marsoe and finally Fai. (Just Fai.)
There are no spoken full lines. What I'm requesting is sound bites that can express about 32 different emotions such as sighs, groans, growls and so on and so forth. I'll need three takes for a total of 96 sounds.
For main roles, I'm paying $15/person for the project. All payments are made through PayPal. All of the voice actors will be in the credits page both in-game and on the main itch.io page.
The deadline for auditions is September 1st, 2020. There are currently no plans to extend this deadline, as the full first route of Veris the Valiant is complete.
I communicate primarily through Discord.
WHAT I NEED FROM YOU
Please submit clean recordings (no air conditioners in the background, no fans. Please don't add effects to your lines. Feel free to cut your lines to your best/favorite takes.

Almost done!
We at Jellyfish Parade just want to say that there's been the most amazing response! In days, we received almost 100 auditions for a variety of characters. In truth, it's been hard to pick because so many excellent voices were in mix! A small announcement! The original deadline for auditions was September 1st because we did not imagine the response that Heroine for Hire would garner. As such, we've decided to close auditions a little earlier in order to ensure that all those who've auditioned have received a fair listen. As such, if you want to audition one of the two available parts, Timpani or Fai, be sure to do so before August 29th, 12AM EST.
Lyre is the main character of Heroine for Hire, the heroine in question. She is in her early to mid twenties. Courageous and kind, Lyre is a young woman who wants to make a difference in her kingdom. Her voice is medium range, womanly voice of an assertive nature.
Her personality can be smart, kind or brave by player's choices, but no matter what, her base personality is strong-hearted, impulsive and impatient. She is quite determined so her voice should come across as strong as well.
Because Heroine for Hire has quite a few fight scenes, please be prepared to showcase some fighting shouts (think Legend of Zelda's classic Link's Hup! Hup! HYAAAH! sounds.)
Note: Lyre has a twin sister. Feel free to try out for that role too!
Fighting grunts such as 'hup! hyaaah!'
Alright, Lyre. Time to activate your charisma. (said smoothly)
I want to make a difference. I don't want to be a bard or sit in a garden for the rest of my life. (with passion)
The main character's identical twin sister. She is a seamstress and visually is softer than her sister is. She is in her early to mid twenties, same as Lyre. Sharp-tongued and snarky, Lute is a young woman who wants to become a master seamstress and doesn't mind a little scheming to get there. Her voice is medium range, womanly voice of a sarcastic nature.
Unlike Lyre, she thinks before she acts. Like Lyre, she has the tendency to be overly casual with others. Despite her attitude, she genuinely loves and cares about her family and is highly protective of them.
If you are trying out for Lyre, feel free to try out for Lute as well.
There's no harm in living a life as a farmer--or a bard. Da does just fine as one. (said defensively)
You don't want to be late on the first day of your new, new, new, new job. (said teasingly)
He slammed the door in your face. Twice. (said with annoyance)
Veris the Valiant! A valiant knight who is strong, brave, and lazy. So very, very lazy. He can be serious when he absolutely has to, but for the most part, Veris is quite.... easygoing. His voice should be warm, kind, breezy and carefree. It should be medium pitch but maturenot too youthful. Although an elf with an unnamed age, he should sound as though he's in his early 30s.
Because Heroine for Hire has quite a few fight scenes, please be prepared to showcase some fighting shouts (think Legend of Zelda's classic Link's Hup! Hup! HYAAAH! sounds.)
I don't avoid work! (said protestingly) I simply... find time to relax during duties. (said lazily)
Looking handsome? That's not all I do, you know. (said smugly, silkily)
You already have a strong heart, Lyre. You just need to believe that you do. (said warmly)
Timpani Harmoniel, the mother of Lute and Lyre. As their mother, she has a voice that is soft, gentle and breathy, the quintessential anime mom. She is prone to saying hardcore things in a sweet, softspoken manner, such as threatening to throw a brick through the window of a man who fired her daughter.
A character who calls Lute and Lyre's father "darling", she is also a hopeless romantic. Mid-40s to mid-50s.
I've never met him but I can tell you for a fact that he still doesn't compare to my darling. (said with pride)
I'm proud of you for standing up to them. (said with pride)
Tsk, that Goosle really is asking for an anonymous brick through his window. (said with annoyance)
Princess Ivis is an avid pretender and schemer beyond compare. While not malicious, her main target is to marry well so that she can be queen (as the youngest of six sisters.) Her voice is prim and proper, very poised, and at times, disdainful when she feels people are obtuse or being foolish. She can be sharp but she is not cold or unkind.
For the love of nymphs, will you polish your swords? (said with annoyance)
Do you have business with my knight? (said with authority)
Nice try, Veris. I know all of your hiding spots. (said with annoyance)
Esmerelle Marsoe is the second in line to the throne of Faunestra. She is cold, demanding and brisk with a rigid sense of justice. She is also a war general, hence her title of "Princess General." Voice should be somewhat low, mature, womanly and full of authority.
Did you attempt to apprehend this vermin? (said with authority)
You seem as if you already know, but I am Princess-General Esmerelle. (said coolly)
I don't repeat myself. (said with arrogance) Follow. (said lightly, breezily)
His name is Fai. Just Fai.
Fai is a man of few words and fewer expressions. His voice is rather deep and calm with warmth. He should sound as if he's in his early 30s.
I wouldn't mind it if you left, though. Wouldn't mind if you stayed either. Up to you. (said matter of factly, dispassionately)
I don't show unfinished products. No oil, no eyes. (said firmly)
Heh. If you want to know the answer, don't ask me. (said with amusement)
Cantrella Marsoe is the third in line to the throne of Faunestra. She is warm, personable and just the slightest bit manipulative. As a diplomat, she can easily get along with others but she has no problem with making sure to get the solution she wants. Speaks a little formally.
Would you doubt that you are best of the best when it comes to delivering that which is cute and adorable?
Always so direct and straight to the point, aren't we, Master Fai?
How timely of you to complete it with such little time to spare.
Gabrienn is a backer created character. He has a minor role in both the common route and again in Fai's route. His personality is kind and straight forward and he is the tallest character of the cast.
You must be coming to deliver the new ladles then, huh?
By the way, are you guys hiring?
Why don't I take it from here? You go and deal with that other table.
The arrogant lord is a backer character. He is an incompetent fighter and comes to the shop to blame Fai's craftmanship for his losing a duel.
I've heard excellent things about this shop--I never expected for all of them to be a pack of lies.
Because of {i}your{/i} inferior craftsmanship, I lost a duel!
This is why I don't like dealing with you half-human folk.
