Project Overview

This is a short 4-5 minute animated short my friends and I are making for a pitch! I'd prefer to work with VAs who are passionate about the characters and interested in a potential follow-up or continuation of the story.

Sage is determined to become a hero, but his home planet is a sparkly paradise full of eccentric pushovers and pacifists. With nowhere else to go, he applies to join the Galactic Defense Force, but their captain is only interested in teams of four. Due to a lack of willing candidates, Sage must find a way to make his team of heroes with a druid who speaks in cryptic riddles, a four-armed rage machine who breaks everything, and the broken medical droid that fixes what the rage machine breaks. With evaluations approaching and everything on the line, will his unit be able to pass?

    I’ll be spending my final quarter shopping these two pitches around, and I’d like at least one of them to remain in the indie space.

    Funding is always my biggest hurdle, so I need a studio with more business experience. I’m great at directing teams, but not great with numbers.

    Epilogue of Endings follows what would happen if the sun broke open and cosmic monsters hatched from within. We follow four survivors wandering the wasteland, exploring what it means to be human and what makes us alive.💥

    Galactic Defense Force follows an uptight alien cadet forming a new hero team. Due to a lack of willing candidates, he must build his team with a druid who speaks in riddles, a punk rock rage machine, and the shabby little medical droid who fixes what the rage machine breaks.🛸

    Hello, everyone! The final results for Equinox and Captain Sterling should be public by tomorrow evening at the very latest!

    Thank you all for so many great auditions! It was actually a LOT harder to pick voices for the side characters than the main four. I think it’s because I had a solid idea of what the main four would sound like already in my mind, but my ideas for Equinox and Sterling had more variety. Different auditions fit the characters for different reasons, so it’s been tricky to make the final choice. Even so, I’ll be sure to let VAs know as soon as casting is decided tomorrow!

    For our main four characters, we will be contacting the selected Voice Actors within the next few days! I will announce the Casting Call results by the end of the week, where I will also cast Equinox and Captain Sterling after we can review any submissions for the two newly added roles.

  • CASTING CALL UPDATE: NEW ROLES AVAILABLE!

    Hi, everyone! Thank you all so much for your interest in the Galactic Defense Force. We're narrowing down our final picks for the main four VAs as I write this, but that doesn't mean there aren't more opportunities for anyone who wanted to audition.

    While the four main characters' casting call is closing today, I will be adding a few minor roles that also require some voice acting. This includes two of the story's side characters and a few eccentric civillians that the heroes meet on their first journey through space. I'll share information here as soon as I'm able!

Sage has a medium-high voice that strives to hold a more commanding presence. As a sprite from a planet of whimsical doormats, Sage intends to prove that he is fully capable of leading a team and defending planets across the galaxy. He wants to present himself as a mature, calm and collected soldier, but he sometimes struggles to withhold that cool demeanor in the face of disaster, usually provoked by his team's disobedience and general chaos. He is very militant and virtuous, always hoping to do the right thing...even if that means lying about his age to become team captain.

Axel has a medium-low voice with a rebellious spirit. They generally hit first and ask questions later, much happier smashing the door down instead of meticulously solving some puzzle to open it. They're usually very grumpy and hot headed, quick to insult anyone that gets on their nerves, but they're also surprisingly empathetic for someone so big and violent. This punk rock enthusiast also had a very big soft spot for Widget, the little medical droid that refused to give up on Axel when they'd believed themself to be broken beyond repair.

Widget has a medium-high voice with a friendly southern drawl. They're the team's youngest medic and the resident optimist, approaching every mission with a sunny disposition. They're happy to befriend everyone they meet, including enemy fighters, and enjoy doing good deeds across the galaxy. The little droid is particularly fond of their best friend Axel, always enthusiastic about the large alien's punk rock aesthetic and encouraging the fighter to process their emotions in healthier ways.

Flitter has a medium-high voice with an airy sound, very soft and demure. She's a druid with a mystical connection to the magic and nature of many worlds, often responding to questions with vague metaphors in place of plain answers. Flitter is also the owner of a cozy canteena full of wild plants, often mixing fancy drinks for her friends or mixing potions with unique properties. She may seem like a bit of a ditz, but she's wise beyond her years and usually knows what she's doing... usually.
