Fhaerythe Scene 0: Book Preview Trailer
Project Overview
Fhaerythe is a fantasy world created by Nikki Flynn. It is a world populated by elves and humans with further subdivisions of "sea-dweller" and "land-dweller". This is not an Anthologies of Ullord related project. One of the Ullord writers, Nikki Flynn, is the author of the book that this project is related to and that is where the relevance between AoU and Fhaerythe begins and ends. This may or may not result in additional projects coming from this preview and the book, but it is not a guarantee. That will be addressed later should it become relevant.
Plot: After magic returns to the world, the man who predicted this event (Nikan) begins his quest of immortalizing magic so it can never be taken from humans and elves ever again. In order to complete this quest he is in search of another person whose ability will allow him to harvest the source of magic. Believing he found the women needed to complete his quest, he begins preparations for this monumental undertaking.
Meanwhile, his misdeeds are coming back to him in karmic retribution. Several set out to find the woman he needs to complete his quest and return her to her home and to bring the outlaws Nikan commands to justice for their crimes.
Yes, this is a paid project, but the audio quality needs to be stellar, seamlessly weaved together into one preview that sounds as though it was recorded in the same studio. So:
The highest consideration will be given to those with good audio quality.
Auditions with audible reverb, background noises, fuzziness, peaking and the like will be rejected.
Please, no:
- Headset microphones
- Phone microphones
- Internal microphones
- Laptop microphones
This is being used as a trailer of sorts for the novel Nikki Flynn is working on.

Project Closed Roles Being Decided!
Thank you to everybody who auditioned! I'm glad my little book trailer sounded interesting to all of you! Since I have more than 100 auditions to sort through myself, this may take some time. I will however be contacting the auditioners I am interested in casting within the next few days. :)
The narrator is the support that will, for an audio heavy project such as this, be what acts as the foundation for the scene being portrayed.
The narrator can be male or female.
You need a good cadence, pronunciation and to be able to consistently read at a good rate for several paragraphs.
Any and all voice types are welcome.
This, however, is a very heavy role to portray with a lot of high expectations for the performance to be consistent and easily understood for listeners.
There is no accent preference or anything of the like.
The sounds of fires eating through the wooden edifices of the port town pervaded the night air. Nikan, the king of the Mana Storm, normally did not partake in the attacks directly unless he was needed, opted to partake once his ship had been attacked by one in port. Nikan left the ship in Eron’s care.
The magic users from the port town begin conjuring their magic attacks. The magic-users from the Mana Storm remain still, unmoved by the magical policing group before them.
Various magical attacks were launched at the men from the Mana Storm. The repeated blasts of magical energy kicked up sand and dirt. The dust remained stagnant in the air for a mere moment. The leader of the port mages summoned a breeze to clear away the dust cloud.
Nikan is the main character of the book. He is ostensibly a pirate. He captains his ship the "Mana Storm". He is eccentric. The man is charismatic and intense. He has a short fuse when challenged. He is protective of his loyal followers and does his best to keep them from being harmed. He believed in magic and the supernatural long before anybody knew they existed. He studied the old accounts of magic so that when magic one day returned to the world he would know what to do with it and what sort of magic he was given. He is terse about his plans, but he gives long-winded sermons to his followers (and anybody who will listen) about the nature of magic, how it works and that it will be back in the world again. He regales many with stories about the origin of magic and the fates that took magic from the world.
He also worries for the future of the world to the point of wanting to personally shape a better future. He has an innate sense of right and wrong with his own shades or morality. He has many friends and allies and just as many enemies.
Nikan has the magic gift of utilizing force (gravity) and the ability to have prophetic dreams. He utilizes them with ease and puts almost no effort into the use of his abilities. His force ability is tied to his personality (sheer force of personality and charisma) as well as his angry and aggressive side. His foreseeing is tied to his worry for the future.
For Nikan I am looking for somebody with a deep/growly/low/commanding voice. One or all of those traits are sufficient.
[cocky] You can try.
[nonchalantly] Oh, I see. These reports clearly do not mention just how we gain the upper hand in raids.
That is why I tell people about magic as it is. After all, if anybody else learned what it is that I intend to do, they would think “Why does it have to be him that does this? Why not me instead?” And then I would have to fend off others who try to claim my prize.
Calian of the Mana Storm is a sea-dwelling elf. He is a loyal member of Nikan's crew. He only question's Nikan's orders to gain a better understanding of what they are doing at that moment. He follows his orders without hesitation. He is obedient, quiet and observant. He spends his time with the others on board. He enjoys a good meal more than anything.
Calian formerly was a hunter who had heard about the new world. He decided to try out hunting some of the new game that came with the new world. After completing his new quest he fell in love with the new world. One of the only ways to stay connected with the old world and to still walk on the new world was to join the sea-dwellers. Calian did this and he quickly found himself at home on the Mana Storm.
Calian's only ability that he is aware of is to physically see magical signatures. This makes him an effective tracker of any magical source such as people. His gift is constant and cannot be turned off. This causes him to partly blindfold himself in some situations so he cannot be blinded by the sheer amount of magic present.
I am open to all voice types for Calian.
[worried] My king?
You did kill most of them, though.
Maybe you should tell others the significance of what it is you do?
The mage hunter [gender not specified] is a bounty hunter/inquisitor of sorts. This person is there to prosecute the pirates that have been raiding towns, especially Nikan. Nikan's crew, any of them will suffice, though. The mage hunter is lawful and wanting to protect the innocent people from a raid and raze that Nikan's crew is infamous for carrying out elsewhere in the world.
The mage hunter is also not afraid easily. The mage hunter is aware of magic's existence and has been training others to utilize their abilities. This is part of what makes the mage hunter confident in their ability to hunt down and prosecute the pirates. (Sheer numbers versus magical attacks.) The mage hunter has nerves of steel and is a commanding leader that is respected by their followers. The mage hunter considers the life of a sea-dweller (piracy) to be lowly, dastardly and barbaric compared to the hardworking life of being a scholar, a soldier, an honest sailor or a land-dweller in general. This comes off as a bit racist/elitist.
I am open to all voice types for the mage hunter.
You are being held on the charges of robbery, abduction, unlawful imprisonment, attacking a foreign government and murder. If you do not surrender, we are obligated to sink your ship with your men on it and to save your body as proof of your demise. How do you respond?
We can use the various magical attacks that you witnessed those around me conjure from nothingness. Are you certain you do not wish to stand down? It would be in your best interest.
How are you going to end my life, then, barbarian king?
These are for the background characters. These will be a lot of noises and replies of a crowd. A few people will be chosen from the best auditioners. These roles are for males and females and for all voice types. The differentiated mages will be chosen from among the best auditioners as well.
Yes, commander!
Yes, my king!
Yes, Nikan! As you command!
(pronounced nee-kin)
