Demon Slayer Abridged Episode 1
Project Overview
INTRODUCTION
Hello, I am looking to make a well-made Demon Slayer Abridged. I want people to see this online and mistake it for the dub. I want people to debate whether the abridge is better or worse than the original. With that, I want to be able to work with those aspiring to be voice actors and give them an opportunity to put their voice out there and for it to be something they are proud of.
I ask for professionalism from any who would like to be involved. I do ask that if you audition and are cast that you watch the anime if you haven't already.
PAYMENT
This will be a paid gig even though it won't be much if the first episode takes off or blows up bigger paychecks could be in store in the future. Payment will be handled half upfront and the other half after recording lines. Please note I say recording lines. There may be more recording to be done in terms of character noises but you will always be paid after lines are recorded and no later.
COMMITMENT
This is a long-term commitment to this project I won't ask for too much of your time simply the days needed for readthroughs, recording lines, and recording character sounds. But I do ask when we do another episode to work with me in scheduling and continuing to voice the same character. There may be times when I ask you to voice minor characters and extras. You will be compensated accordingly. You also get first try at auditioning for new roles once cast to the project even if cast as a minor character.
MISC
- Discord is currently a requirement as it is the easiest way to have meetings and also direct you when recording lines.
- I would prefer you have somewhat professional sounding equipment, it's not a deal-breaker if you don't have a good mic as if your audition is good enough I will send you a better one. But it is still preferred to have a clear-sounding mic.

Urokodaki Cast

Tanjiro is a person who cares about everyone around him but never shows it. He can be sarcastic and a bit of an asshole at times but his heart is always in the right place. He should sound nice with a fire behind his voice.
[He is in immense pain and exhaustion. He's fighting for both his and his sister's life.]
My lungs can’t take it anymore, I can’t keep going like this.
No! I can do this! For Nezuko! And for - (He falls over a cliff)
[After being defeated in a fight he awakens worried if this man did anything to his sister. He sees her tied up with a piece of Bamboo in her mouth.]
Oh my god… HE BONDAGED HER!
[He is trying to hype himself up to stab a demon through the head. He is clearly failing to do so and keeps changing tactics.]
Time to kill the head. Just gonna go ahead and stab at the ol’ noggin. Just an old-fashioned trepanation. Just going to take my hand and bring down the pain. Slice and dice. This is fine. It’s not illegal. I won’t go to hell for this.

She is very sweet and seemingly has no flaws...when she's human. When she's a demon she is out for blood and carnage. As a human she would delightful and sweet. As a demon she is fierce and strong with every word she says.
[She is having an awkward boring conversation with her brother. At first, she is trying to seem nice and interesting, when she goes to her inner dialogue she is first in a panic before becoming sad.]
Cool! (Internally) Oh god, I blew it again! He’s never going to like me like when we were kids. We did everything together. Now.. he hardly even talks to me.
[She is in demon form. She only sees flesh and is starving. As she continues to attack she begins to realize she's hurting her big brother and is able to control herself.]
DIE! DIE DIE DIE! DIE TANJIRO! (Tanjiro begins crying) DIE Tanjiro! Die ... Tan..jiro? B-big brother?
[Since Nezuko doesn't talk much as a demon I need to hear sounds of her replying through the bamboo. So perform this next line as if you are speaking with something in your mouth. Try to bring out as much emotion to convey the message with just your sounds]

An arrogant asshole who's never truly been told no. He speaks with a low cadence but with snark and as if always patronizing everyone he talks to. He thinks he's better than everyone and has never been proven wrong.
[He has just captured a demon that was about to murder a child. He feels like showing off a little before killing the demon.]
Stand back, kid. I’m about to show you what I like to call a pro-Hashira move.
[After furiously debating with this kid about his sister being a demon it seems as if the demon is going to eat the kid. But instead defends him midway through his line]
Well, he’s dead nowowowow What the fuck?!
[Confused and frustrated by some weird kid calling him a pervert and claiming this demon is just his sister going through puberty.]
What the fuck are you talking about? She’s a demon.

An old wise man who has seen enough death in his life you'd think he'd be numb to it yet he always wants to help those who can't help themselves. He sounds old and disgruntled bordering on being scary but you can tell he cares in the way he speaks.
[He is confronting Tanjiro. After witnessing him fail to finish off a demon that couldn't fight back. He is angry and lecturing Tanjiro.]
You are weak. Pathetic. And absolutely useless. If a demon were to attack you again. You would die.
[He is ordering Tanjiro to kill a demon.]
Bash its head in. Take that rock and bash its head in.
[He is sad and hiding it with anger. He's disappointed in himself. He speaks very matter of factly here.]
You were never supposed to cut that boulder. I didn’t train you because I didn’t want you to be sent to the final selection.

[He says this to Tanjiro after hearing him complain about slicing a boulder. He is angry that a student of his former teacher would give up so easily.]
Impossible? I thought the same thing when I had to do it. But I still sliced through that boulder!
[Angered in the middle of his fight with Tanjiro. He is almost appalled at the lack of proper swordsmanship from Tanjiro.]
What the hell is that form?! What has Urokodaki taught you?!
[Almost excited at the thought of the challenge he has ahead in training Tanjiro.]

[She was asked something she has no idea the answer to. She is bored of talking and wants to begin the training now.]

I will do most of the writing myself but I need those with a shared humor/passion for the project. I need at least 2 other writers who will do a Passover of every script and fix details to make the dialogue seem more natural as well as to offer ideas for jokes and bits they feel would fit the show. Over time I will start asking some of you to help write full scenes for episodes and eventually even full episodes.
REQUIREMENT
- Write a 1-2 page script from any scene of the show.
- Include some sort of bit/joke
- Preferably take a longer scene or 2-3 scenes and find a way to shorten it to 1-2 pages while still keeping the story intact.
- If you feel you excel at drama rather than comedy write a 1-2 page death scene for any of the demons and Tanjiro's reaction and response.

I have little experience with sound design and may require help. I'm looking for an experienced sound designer to help make the actor's voice sound within the scene as well as their internal voice to sit comfortably on top of everything. I also need someone who has experience in creating professional-sounding, natural sound effects. I will handle the editing and lip-syncing. This is a big job so I will be paying half upfront guaranteed 250 and then the other half after the final product. I will pay you once we BEGIN on the project and not when chosen. So this will be after the writing and voice recording has wrapped up and when the edit is complete.
