5028: Sonata of Fate Audiobook

Project Overview

The galactic year is 5028. Gods wage war over the fate of the Milky Way, as its inhabitants fight for their right to live. The Soulless, thrall of the god, Hilos, threaten to wipe out all sentient life, while the Celestials, chosen of the gods Cleva and Solvemos, take the front lines to stop them.

William Ortell, a young man from Furelle is chosen as a successor to Vale, a powerful Celestial of years past whose magic was unparalleled. Together with his friends and the crew of the Blue Sparrow, he must fight against the clock to find a way to put a stop to this war once and for all, while also dodging the Soulless wishing to put a stop to him.

All the while, he struggles to learn his place in this vast galaxy as he untangles the skills of his predecessor, learning to be more than he was, and learning what it truly means to be a Celestial.

This phase of production focuses primarily on the second half of the book. Lux and Rex's lines need to be recorded for both the first and second half, however, due to recasting choices.

Pay for this will be $20 an hour for all actors. Extras will receive at minimum one hours worth of pay.

    Coming to a Close

    It's been almost two long years since I first began working on the audiobook for 5028: Sonata of Fate. Two years of near daily work and grind to make the best product I could, and we've finally reached the end. Admittedly, despite all the work, I'm more pumped than ever! I want to do more! (ah if only I had the time to do so)

    The audiobook is now complete. Top to bottom, start to end, and the great news is that it'll be coming out in just a few days! April 30th, to be exact!

  • Production Update 4/15/2025

    Final Production Update

    The Journey So Far:

    It has been nearly two years since production began on the 5028 audiobook. Two years of adapting the original novel into a script, finding and working with lovely actors and actresses, doing some intensive sound design work and even music!
    It's been a lot of work, and it's all come to a head here! Let's go over what's been done since our last update.

    An Official Soundtrack:

    So over the past six months, I've been spending many of my waking hours in front of a computer writing music custom for this project. While music isn't constantly playing, we have a soundtrack totaling in at over six hours. Alongside the release of the audiobook to Audible (more on that in a bit), I'm planning on releasing the soundtrack to services such as Spotify.     Retakes and SFX Updates

    As I scrub back through all the chapters for final takes, I'm adding onto and swapping out old SFX. Over the time of production I've been collecting and expanding my personal sfx library, which has given me more options for making things sound cool and unique.

    On top of this, as I've scrubbed back through the completed chapters, I've gone through and re-recorded a few lines (mostly my own) and am working with other actors to do a few last minute retakes to prep for launch.

    Preparing for Publication

    Finally, we're going through final mixing and mastering procedures. ACX (the publisher you go through for Audible) has some strict requirements for file types and qualities that we'll be making sure to comply with as we finish this project up. I don't wanna give any exact dates yet, but I'm thinking this will be ready by, at the latest mid May. I'm hopeful that it will be done much before that, but that update will come.

  • Production Update 2/25/2025

    It's been a long road, but the end is in sight.

    Currently, we are working on our second to last stage of production: composing the music for the audiobook. At the time that I am writing this update, over half the audiobook's OST has already been completed. An exact date for publication is difficult to give at this point, though I'm hoping to be able to get this out before the summer.

    The process of composing for these chapters has been a difficult and experimental one, especially given the nature of the medium we're working in. In the end, a mixture of techniques from different mediums have been used, including some looping tracks, tracks that are reused throughout different sections of stories (such as in TV shows like AtLA), and through composed pieces like what you'd see in film.

    In all, it's been a lot of work, but work that has been incredibly fulfilling. I look forward to being able to show you all when it is done!

  • Day ??? Update

    Been a while but posting here to say that we're a bit over halfway there!

    Laying out lines has been finished, and we're moving on to sound design! I foresee this taking far less time (as I really enjoy this part and will hopefully be more proactive lol.) Then onto music.

    Music I'm concerned for, as I know it can take a while to write. I'll be continuing to update as I work and see how things progress.

  • Production Update 2

    As we get more lines completed and begin preparations on laying out dialogue, I have decided to extend the current audition period to Friday, the 21st to give everyone more time to get their auditions in.

    Meanwhile, a new cover is in the works for both the book and audiobook. Hopefully within the next few weeks we'll have some more awesome stuff to show!

Rex is the ship medical officer. He speaks overly formally, and with a deep gruff voice. He is very serious about keeping the crew safe and healthy, but also knows when to let loose and let them have their fun. Overall his voice is very deep and sounds as if he is keeping a stiff lower jaw. Heavy gravelly sound to his voice. 


Think Mithrax from Destiny 2 as a reference.
