What even is Danganronpa: Fandom's Calling?
Danganronpa: Fandom's Calling is fan game made with RPG Maker VX Ace currently in production. This is a fan game of the Danganronpa series, but it has no affiliation to the official games and/or timeline. Why? Well, simply because that would make no possible sense. The storyline is why:
"Wouldn't it be wonderful if Hope's Peak was a real-life Academy based in Japan? Well someone else thought so, too. By 'someone else' I mean a fan of the Spike Chunsoft series, Danganronpa. 'Woah! What lunatic would create a school based off of a murderous game?' Is that what you're asking? Well... I don't exactly know. But what I do know is that the person who opened the school was inspired by the fact that the only students recruited were Ultimates. Basically, to apply you have to meet strict requirements. Although, having an exceptional talent is the main one. If you have that, you are pretty much set to go. Oh god... I am getting off track aren't I, brother? Sorry! My point is... The Academy from the game series Danganronpa (Hope's Peak) is real. It's here in Japan. And a LOT of fans are attracted to the school. Me being one of them! Except... I don't exactly have a talent..." - Sachiko Yuzuki
So yes. This game is going to be meta. I promise though, it isn't just some cringey weeabo fan fiction. (I hope...) These characters are invested in Danganronpa, just like me and you. They have the opportunity of a lifetime... right? I mean, you can't just expect an Academy based off a killing game to go smoothly...
What do you plan to add gameplay-wise?
I plan on adding as much as possible. There is going to be FTEs, Investigations, and Class Trials. My current inspiration is SDRA2.
When will the game be released? Will it be free?
The game is going to be released by chapter. Once I finish Chapter 1, I will release it then work on Chapter 2 and so on. Of course, this game will be free since it is a fan game. It is currently only going to be available in English, but if you know any translators that may be interested hit me up!
Why are there only 12 student roles open?
I have precast 4 characters. These are voice actors that I have worked with before, and I know they can deliver high quality.
Is there a possibility of double casting?
It is possible yes, but only if I think one person can accurately voice two characters while not having them sound too similar. My intent is not to double cast; like I am not here hoping for a double cast or anything. But if I feel one person can fit both roles, then I will be open to it. I also want to refrain from having one person have so many lines, but that is up to the voice actor. So please audition for multiple roles if you like!
What kind of lines/how many lines should I expect?
Important cutscenes and class trials will be fully voiced. Daily life and investigation segments will only be partially voiced, similar to the original games.
Requirements
- Good quality. This is the MOST important factor. This includes no background noise, no plosives, and minimal echo. I want this to sound as good as possible since this is going to be an actual re-playable game. Therefore, please keep your quality consistent.
- Acting ability. I feel this goes without saying, but I would much rather prefer if you had some VA experience under your belt. This way, emotions are portrayed across clearly. I will be looking at your CCC profiles to see if you have any past experience.
- Maturity. If we are going to be working together, I would like you to be mature about it. Now, maturity doesn't always match up with age, but chances are the older you are the more mature you are. If you think you get upset over little things or like to create drama, this project is not for you. This project will contain some mature language and violence. If you are not comfortable then I would advise you not to audition.
- Please have an understanding of the original Danganronpa series. Since this story is very 'meta' I would appreciate you being able to understand what these characters are talking about.
