Covenant - Proof of Concept
Project Overview
"Covenant" is an animated series focusing on the lives of five childhood friends and their time working with an organization that hunts normally-unseen monsters.
This project is a proof-of-concept being developed for a filmmaking capstone course. The final product will be a 3-5 minute voice-acted animatic showcasing one of the core scenes from the pilot episode.
While I'm currently unable to have paid positions as an extremely broke college student, I do intend on going further with this project if all goes well, and I would be reaching out to anyone who worked on the proof of concept about working on the actual project, if they would be interested and I feel they'd be a good fit for the series as a whole.
DEADLINES AND AUDITIONS
Because this is for a capstone class, there is a hard deadline for when it needs to get done.
Auditions for voice actors will close February 6th, 2025, and final recordings will be due two weeks after that, on February 20th, 2025.
Applications for the animatic artist will close Febuary 14th, 2025, and the final animatic will be due on March 27th, 2025.
These dates are to ensure that I am able to compile the project before its actual, in-class due date.
COMMUNICATION
All communication for this project will be done over Discord, so if you don't have an account and don't want to make one, this might not be the project for you. I will keep everyone updated on the completion of the project at least once a week, though likely more frequently than that.
ARTIST GUIDELINES
When an artist is decided for the project, I'll talk to them more in-depth about what the project will require, and at that time I'll have the excerpt of the script picked and a plan for how I want it to look visually.
VOICE ACTOR GUIDELINES
While this isn't a fully professional project, I do want a certain level of quality for it. That means I'd like the audio quality of all of the voice lines to be fairly high; decent-quality microphones, minimal background noise, etc. I can do some noise-correction in the final edit, but I'm not a magician, so try and make sure your audio quality is fairly good at the get-go.
I would like to try to record all of the voice-lines together with everyone, likely in a Discord call, both to try and capture some of the chemistry that forms in a recording studio between voice actors, and so I can give real-time notes on the performances. However, I'm willing to be flexible on this, as both I and everyone else are busy and might not have time to block out a recording session in just two weeks.

To anyone who works on this project, or even auditions for it, thank you. Being able to write and produce a work of my own like this is a huge dream, and I'm excited to start working towards making that a reality.

This role needs someone who's familiar with making animatics, who can make one for a short 3-4 minute scene. The exact scene hasn't been decided yet, but it won't involve any fighting or complex camera angles, so you won't have to worry about that.

As the central character of Covenant, Maverick will be doing a lot of the heavy lifting, and will be guaranteed to be in whatever scene is selected to be developed.
Maverick is a 27 year old man (he/him) who's bitingly cynical and a tad antisocial, with a dry sense of humor that he tends to let cover up his actual feelings. His voice is a bit more immature than his actual age. Maverick is mixed (white/Hispanic).

Agent Conley is a 36 year old woman (she/her) who is very professional and serious, but isn't afraid to be snarky or push buttons to get what she wants.

Jess is a 26 year old woman (she/her) with a confident and boisterous personality. The brawn of the group, she's always ready to tackle problems head-on, but her love for her friends and desire to do good in the world is what truly drives her.

Creed is a 28 year old non-binary person (they/them) who is fairly serious and no-nonsense, though they're really just not as expressive as most other people. Their voice is mostly flat, with the occasional bit of personality or humor shining through.

Penny is a 28 year old woman (she/her) who is bright, confident, and maybe just a little bit anxious. When talking with her friends, she tends to allow herself to sound less confident and more like herself, but in front of strangers - and especially her streaming audience - she presents herself as very well put-together and knowledgeable.
Penny is a black character so I would highly prefer for her to be voice-acted by a black WOC.
(anxious, worried) Where have you BEEN? You just stopped responding to all of my messages one day!
(confident) Hey, everyone! Good morning, or evening, or whatever time it is where you live.
(serious) How do we know they won't immediatly tell OCDA all about this?
Mikhael is a 28 year old man (he/him) who's very timid and anxious, especially in unfamiliar situations or when under stress. He's very soft-spoken and isn't prone to raising his voice, even when he's upset, and he'll rarely bring up his own problems unless forced to talk about them.
