Project Overview
DISCLAIMER
This series is only for mature audiences. It involves blood/violence, profane language, sexual themes/violence, and other themes. The Committee Saga explores themes that might make you feel uncomfortable.
What it is
Forest of Despair is a story that takes place in the Committee Saga. Nothing else needs to be known about the Committee Saga to understand Forest of Despair. It builds on the canon of the games, starting about fifty years after DanganRonpa 3.
The story takes place in Aokigahara, better known as the Suicide Forest. Akita Yamazaki, the Ultimate Mediator, and twenty other of her classmates are forced into a Killing Game by Monokuma. Although, not all is what it seems, as the cast slowly figure out the Killing Game is the least of their worries. After all, the Committee is watching you, forever and ever.

Important Info
This is a formal project so audition will be picked based on the quality of the performance.
Only record your audition lines. You do not need to state your name or anything like that.
There will be no live voice directing unless somebody asks for it. Directions should be noted in the script, but, if there is something wrong, or you want to be changed, just tell me and I will listen to you.
No character will be chosen before the deadline. Take your time, but, most of all, have fun with your audition.
If you get cast, we will keep in contact with emails.
This is a long project so it requires you to be able to stick with it. Message me through emails if anything happens.
You can audition for more than one character.

Akita Yamazaki is the Ultimate Mediator and the protagonist of the story. She is a jaded girl who is often very rude to others, confusing many because of her title. Even if she is the Ultimate Mediator, Akita prefers to either not solve a problem herself or with her fists.
Because of her sardonic nature, Akita comes off as stand-offish and cold to others around her. Except if they are Minato Ueda or Mitsuru Banda, who she fonds over in vastly different ways. Many people that get to know Akita refer her as a jerk with a heart of gold, as she does care for others in her own unique way.
However, there is a great mystery to Akita, even to herself.

Name's Akita Yamazaki. Ultimate Mediator at your service. I guess I've been promoted to the protagonist of this story. Now that's something I wasn't expecting.
Listen up, assholes! All of you are idiots! Maybe we should spend less time listening to a random teddy bear that popped out of nowhere, and more on making sure we get our butts off of here!
Yeah, I know I can be...hard to get along with, but, hey, I don't want people to die. I'm an asshole, not a murderer.
Hotaru Amemori is the Ultimate Dart Thrower. She is an...interesting girl. Most of the time, she is pulling pranks on her classmates or purposefully making everybody drunk. The dart thrower is energetic and strange, either annoying people or pulling them in with her surprisingly natural charisma.
At times, Hotaru is overly friendly and excited. She gets viewed as odd by most, which Hotaru does not mind at all (she does not care about what others think of her after all). Hotaru is a free spirit who loves expressing herself in many new, creative ways. Her impulsive nature sometimes gets her in trouble with the others and Monokuma.
However, it is clear that Hotaru knows something about the Killing Game. Something that she is not willing to share with any of the others.
Heya! Nice to meet ya! Name's Hotaru Amemori. Your name is so cool! I honestly haven't met anybody named Akita before! That's so pretty! Oh yeah, I'm the Ultimate Dart Thrower. I look forward to being friends. That's what the cool kids do.
Hello? They were stabbed in the eye. The. Eye. It is clear what the cause of death is. I don't know about you, but I think that causes a thing we call death. And they are very, very much dead.
Ha! I can't believe you fell for something like that. That was a clear trap set by the killer. Or...maybe the victim! Dun dun dun.
Mitsuru Banda is the Ultimate Sukeban. Because of her position, Mitsuru is a good leader, but most of the students are too scared to listen to her. She is brash and headstrong, preferring to use her fists than talk things out. However, Mitsuru does care for her classmates and wants all of them to get out of the Killing Game alive.
She is a serious girl who does not like when others invade her personal space. At all. Mitsuru is harsh and cold, especially to those who she does not know well.
Mitsuru has a mysterious past with Akita since she was the one that 'saved' her from a certain situation. Of course, this makes Mitsuru the target for Akita's affections, which she does not care for.

Name's Mitsuru Banda. Ultimate Sukeban. Don't get on my bad side. There'll be no problems, dig?

Rosalina...ahem, I mean Mirabilis Folium is the Ultimate Florist but do not tell her that. In her mind, Mirabilis is a magical girl that stands for love and justice! If somebody does something 'bad', like cursing, Mirabilis will purify them with her magic stick of truth!
Mirabilis is a sweet girl...to people who do not need to be purified. She loves cheering people up and making sure that the group will not fall into despair because of Monokuma! Her main goal is to somehow find a way to purify Monokuma and put an end to this awful Killing Game!
Everything is not as it seems, however, as with everybody in this class, Mirabilis is hiding something. She is overly secretive and does not want anybody knowing about her past.

Hi! Do you want to do anything? I'm gonna go around to see if this place really is haunted. It is like we're in an anime!
Oh! Wait! Something like this happened in an anime! Then everybody turned into giant lizard people. Oh my God, we're gonna turn into giant lizard people! That's how we figure out who the killer is! Can the lizard person raise their hand?!
Kira Iwata is one of the Ultimate Jewelers in the class. So, of course, she hates Cassius's guts, claiming him to be a thief (making this worse is that Kira is competitive and wants to win at everything). She might look sweet enough, but Kira hates being called that. The little girl has quite the temper and can use her appearance to get others to do what she wants. Or at least try to manipulate them, Kira is not actually good at that.
She can play the victim, using crocodile tears to get her way...which usually does not work. Kira is immature and acts like a child. Although, if somebody takes the time to get to know Kira, she can be a nice girl.
Kira has a mysterious connection to Hope's Peak Academy and its new headmaster, Ayano Kirigiri.
Hey, Akita, I assume you want to know me? Okay, I'm Kira Iwata, the Ultimate Jeweler. And I'm not sweet, got it? If you even imply it...I swear to God!
Ha, you find me charming enough for my own opinion. I honestly have no idea what's going on. Somebody is dead, and we're trying to not die.
W-what...I...thought...we were...I liked you! Guess the feelings aren't mutual! How can you think...think that I committed murder!
Ayano Nishiki is the Ultimate Hacker. She is most often seen with Kazuhiko Hiraoka, her boyfriend, who does most of her talking for her. She is quiet and emotionless on the surface. If she does talk, it is either only one word or because Kazuhiko is not currently available. It is noted that her voice is monotone and she always sounds tired.
Though, Ayano can be fired up, especially if there is an injustice happening. She is curious and questions everything, with her wanting to solve the mystery of the Killing Game. Ayano may be stoic yet she is not apathetic, caring much about the world and the people around her.
There is something about Ayano, though, that she has not told anybody besides Kazuhiko. Something that can change the entire course of the game.

Tsukiko Oda is the Ultimate Band Manager. Her band is named First Light and she cares for them deeply. She is the main leader of the class and has a level head on her shoulders. Though she has a love of cute things, making her coo over them. It is noted that Tsukiko talks like a 'teddy bear' when this happens.
She is calm and mature, acting older than her age. Tsukiko is outgoing and assertive but knows when others have better ideas than her. With her easy-going attitude, many find that she is a reliable person to trust.
...But everybody should know that everybody has their secrets, Even Tsukiko Oda...
Oh, we've not met, have we? I'm Tsukiko Oda, it's a pleasure to meet you!...As the manager of First Light, I've been given the title of Ultimate Band Manager. Nice of them, right?
Do you know what, I'm just going to take some time out and raid the kitchen to see if there are ingredients to make a banoffee pie, or a chocolate cake or something. Care to join me?
We don't have the time to be pointing fingers at random people. Is there really any evidence that proves that I can be a suspect? Hotaru's alibi also proves that I cannot be the killer.
Namita Nakahashi is the Ultimate Event Planner. She works with Tsukiko Oda to make sure that everybody is fine, making her the co-leader. Her energy is endless but Namita gets easily scared and anxious, especially when things do not go her way. With her love of event planning, Namita loves order and thinks before she does anything.
At first glance, Namita is cheery, confident, and happy-go-lucky. She loves helping others in her class, viewing conflict as something that will only help Monokuma. Namita is a team player and can get easily lonely when left by herself for too long.
There is something strange about her parties in the past. And Namita is not open about discussing any of those matters.
Hiya! How're you doing? The name's Namita Nakahashi, the Ultimate Event Planner. Any event and I can plan it! Pleased to meetcha!
Ha, this is why you plan ahead! I got this whole meeting with us planned! We're gonna have lots and lots of fun!

Miyuki Kobyashi is the Ultimate Onna-bugeisha. She is distant and aloof, barely showing any emotion. However, Miyuki is polite and wants to serve her fellow classmates in anyway that she can.
Although Miyuki is a natural leader, she spends her time on the sidelines, observing everybody from afar. Miyuki acts as some kind of guardian angel to the students, especially those who are on the weaker side. She is not afraid to fight as Miyuki always carries her sword on her person.
Miyuki is the subject of many urban legends, with many worshipping her on the internet, but most everything about her is unknown.
Hello, Miss Yamazaki, you wish to know my name? Its Miyuki Kobyashi, and I am the Ultimate Onna-bugeisha. It is a pleasure to meet you.
This is no game. It is a crime. I will make it my duty to prevent the deaths of my fellow students and to stop who ever is behind this.
Justice is blind, therefore, so am I. I will not accuse any of my fellow students, however, I will supply the evidence needed to bring the killer to justice.
Naoko Kawabata, the Ultimate Child Prodigy, is a child genius that has created multiple different theories and thesis papers about various topics. She is quite shy and does not hold herself in a high regard. Though, even with her low self image, Naoko is quite smart and is a big key to solving many different mysteries. But she's overly modest and always denies this fact.
Naoko always stutters and is extremely socially awkward. That does not stop her from trying to help the other students. But she has a bad habit of running away whenever things get too stressful.
Though Naoko may be too smart for her own good. And besides, Naoko seems like she knows something, but she refuses to tell anybody, There's a reason for her always running away after all.
My-my name? Naoko Kawabata...I am the Ultimate Child Prodigy. Um...my memory is the only thing I'm proud of. Um...yeah...

Takayuki Anno is the Ultimate Private Investigator. He is the partner the Committee gave Akita, and they are forced to work together even though they hate each other's guts. With his words, Takayuki is blunt and does not hold anything back, not caring about whether or not he hurts anybody's feelings.
There is a heart of gold somewhere in there though. He holds soft spots to certain people, especially Naoko Kawabata, the Ultimate Child Prodigy. Though Takayuki still has a habit of getting angry. A lot.
With his cousin, Hideyoshi Anno, Takayuki has a connection that nobody can quite understand. He hates Hideyoshi but does not share the same grudge as Akita.

Kyoto Kamui is the Ultimate Strategist. Overall, Kyoto is shy, clumsy, and socially awkward, finding it hard to hold a conversation with anyone. Especially women. He is unable to talk to them, as he develops crushes on them and becomes a stumbling mess.
Although he has entered many contests, Kyoto always lands in second, which makes him not have a good view of himself. Kyoto is a genius and is able to solve many mysteries by using various types of strategies.
With her connections, Kyoto has some unexplainable relationships to other characters...
Oh sorry. Didn't see you there. Kyoto Kamui, the apparent Ultimate 'Strategist'. Wait...you're a girl...U-uh...Nice to m-meet you, ma'am!

Shinichi Fujimoto is the Ultimate Translator. He is a polite boy who often translates what Takara Miyagi, the Ultimate Treasure Hunter, is trying to say since Takara uses sign language. When talking to people he does not know, Shinichi is very formal and makes sure everything he says is correct in terms of grammar. He hates it when people use incorrect grammar.
Because of his line of work, Shinichi is smart and enjoys things such as reading and writing. Shinichi might be hard to anger, but, when he gets there, Shinichi can be severely cold.
Shinichi's allegiances are question-worthy. There is something he is doing behind the scenes that nobody knows anything about.

Hayato Akimoto is the Ultimate Salesman. He is overly polite to the point that the classmates think he is always trying to sell them something (and, with his monotone voice and lack of noticeable emotion, many are either scared or cautious of him). Everything he does is 'neutral', as Hayato does not take sides in any conflict other than his own.
He is an easy-going businessman that goes-with-the-flow. Although many are creeped out by him, Hayato, on the outside, is just a dude that is incredibly plain. Of course, that's wrong, but not everybody knows that.
With his businessman morals, it is unknown which side he is truly on, and whether or not his infrequent smiles are genuine or not.

Lord Cassius Ambrose Irvine Jacobson the Third is the second Ultimate Jeweler. Because of Kira's shared talent with him, Cassius claims that she stole it and tainted his family bloodline. Cassius is very proud of himself and his family, often bragging to the other students. He believes that the sun and moon both revolve around him.
Cassius is what somebody would simply call an idiot. Hayato has to be constantly around him to make sure he does not do anything stupid. He has a high standard for everything and often bosses around the students in the class that are from a lower economic class than him. Except for Hayato.
Due to his dedication to his family, Cassius will do anything for them. Anything.

Akemi Nakatani is the Ultimate Chess Player. He is standoffish and tries way too hard to act like an adult. With others, Akemi can be rude and seems to think higher of himself. Especially with Kyoto, Akemi can be seen as a bully, not afraid to put others down to boost himself up.
He hates Monokuma and often questions his judgment, pointing all different kinds of holes into the Killing Game. Akemi can be smart but only uses his genius when it can service him.
Akemi has a noticeable hatred of killers that had to come from somewhere...

Kazuhiko Hiraoka is the Ultimate Journalist. Akita has a long history with him, having nothing but hatred for the journalist. His girlfriend is Ayano, who he often talks for. He loves his job and always looks around for a new scoop. Although Kazuhiko can be noisy, he often means well.
He is secretive with anybody that is not his girlfriend. Kazuhiko is knowledgeable about many things. Because of his curiosity, Kazuhiko wants to learn everything about the school, the students, and the game.
With Akita, Kazuhiko knows something about what is going on with her but is not opening up about it. Even to Ayano.

What Ayano means is that there is no way the stabbing happened post-mortem. Look at the body more closely, doesn't it remind you of that murder awhile back? The one of Erica Delaney!
Satoshi Nakajima is the Ultimate Bartender. He is quite the flirt, especially to Akita and Miyuki, but is not a pervert. All of his attempts to woe others end in failure, even though Satoshi claims he has a lot of experience because of his talent.
With others, the most common word they use to describe him is an idiot. Satoshi may be stupid, but he seems to know so. Others get confused by his behavior but ignore it, thinking that it is just Satoshi being an idiot again.
Satoshi is the only character that nobody else knows before the events of the Killing Game. He is not open to explaining how he got his talent. There is something beyond the surface but nobody knows what.

Yasu Matsuhita is the Ultimate Engineer. They go with the flow and seems to be always relaxed and calm. With them, Yasu has a pet rabbit (which is a dwarf hotot), named Mochi, who goes inside their toolbox whenever he's not out.
They are laid-back but still have a sense of humor. Yasu calls everybody around them kid, even if the person is older than them. Also, they fall asleep all the time, which can sometimes get them into bad situations.
There is something underneath the surface. Yasu has many things that cannot be explained away, like scars over their body...
Hm?... 'Sup kid, did ya need something?... Oh! My name. Haha, no problem. The name's Yasu Matsushita, but just call me Yasu. And you are?
I see Mochi likes you, kid. Do you want to hang? I've to make sure Mochi doesn't get lost. I'm glad they didn't take him away.

Minato Ueda is the Ultimate Traveler. They are Akita's best friend, as they have to be saved by her a lot. Because of their oblivious personality, Minato has a bad habit of getting lost. Their habit has allowed them to travel all across the world, getting their title.
They are always happy and believe in the best of people, having an undying amount of optimism. Their connections with others is helped by their confidence and jovial attitude. Minato does not know the darkness of the world.
Not everybody can be happy all the time, though. Everybody has a breaking point, even the brightest of stars have to fade out...

Like in the games, Monokuma is the mascot of the games and the face that the mastermind hides under. He may look and act relatively the same but there is something different here.
