WHAT IS "CHILD BURIED THEATRE"?
Child Buried Theatre will be a Fanganronpa YouTube series, focusing on an audio drama format with an ample amount of visuals (such as CGs, maps, etc).
16 students of the International Ultimates Scholarship accept their invitations to an all-paid trip to commemorate their accomplishments. Though, when left within a luxurious, medieval castle, the hosted event shifts in intensity–threatening life or death. Escape is impossible except… in order to go home, students must kill each other and get away with it.
We are a non-profit organization taking inspiration from Danganronpa and therefore have no affiliation with Spike Chunsoft or the official series. Please support the official releases.
Furthermore, in any case that Child Buried Theatre receives money, it will only be distributed to those working on the project and will not go anywhere else.
AUDITION INFO [MUST READ]In your submission, provide name, age, equipment used, means of contact (Discord preferred), alongside any additional information you would like to provide (demo reels, portfolio links, languages spoken, etc.). When recording lines, please do so in AABBCC format.
Child Buried Theatre is a FANGANRONPA, and therefore inspired by Danganronpa’s grim content. Voice actors will need to convey a wide array of emotions through yelling, crying, screaming, etc. When auditioning, you understand you will have to work with sensitive content in Child Buried Theatre.
If cast, you will be notified of any sensitive topics that will be portrayed by your role in specific. You are welcome to turn down the role if you are not comfortable with said topics.
Do not let voice references restrict your creativity in interpreting a character. Finalized voices can most definitely have different pitches, tones, or delivery as long as it resonates!
Please do not slate your auditions.
Many of the cast are 18+. Therefore, adult characters must have 18+ actors. Kiana, Sasha, and Yukiko are open to those 16+. If you are auditioning for an 18+ character, it is expected that you are 18 by April 30th.
Eun-Seo, Marin, and Valentina require singing. There is a separate profile labeled "Vocalist" to submit the required content. You may audition for strictly VA or strictly singing.
Child Buried Theatre is a long-term project, so scheduling will be discussed when you are brought on board. Expect to be in a semi-professional environment!

Despite her young age, Yukiko fights tooth and nail to be able to stand next to the world's greatest musicians with confidence. With a deep passion for music, quick pace, and striving for perfection, her music speaks for itself that she is the prodigy she aims to be. Behind her flashy, all-eyes-on-me exterior, lies a hard-working and driven creator. Indeed, Yukiko can be immature, but she is far from childish–rather she is the exact opposite. She has a no-nonsense attitude, quick to put people in their place when need be. She polishes her reputation, willing to climb heights to gain admiration and respect.

There is a sharp bite in her words which makes her come across as judgemental. She speaks with a smug undertone in her voice, and is typically only overly emotive when challenged or when she comes across a good opportunity. Eun-seo acts as a role-model of what perfection is said to be in the idol industry, not once failing to impress her staff and audience. She is interpersonal and elegant, her charisma making it extremely difficult to ignore her stance as an icon. Being the leader of her idol group, Elysian Carnation, innumerable standards are placed upon her that she handles with complete ease. Rarely does the elegant Eun-seo crack, for her very presence demands respect in every room that she steps foot in. Due to this nature, it is no surprise that countless cling to her feet in search of care. She is assured in her influential–and motherly–nature, using it as a tool to guide her peers through dark times.

In spite of Valentina’s loud appearance, flashy clothing, and very bold, glamorous attire, her personality starkly contrasts what is shown outside. In contrast to the harsh impression she makes before even opening her mouth, Valentina is the exact opposite of a rumored “spontaneous rebel.” Instead, she is extremely calculated in her actions, ensuring she remains calm, organized, and in her words “predictable.” Due to her compliance with expectations and stoic nature, it is very rare she has intense displays of emotion due to the fear of acting out of line. Furthermore, Valentina has an exceptional sense of independence and self-control. However, because of her overthought approach, there are times where she comes off as awkward in social settings.

Having a background in volunteering for various non-profit organizations, Makani finds the most joy helping animals at different shelters. Makani is inherently an accommodating person, yet somewhat aloof in nature. He is prone to being hard on himself, but instead of taking it out on others, he turns into a shoulder to lean on, commonly taking the blame for others’ faults. He is a natural and collaborative leader, staying moral and just in the face of great chaos. Although he tends to keep his thought process inside of his head–explaining his “poker face”-he is always willing to teach and explain what he is thinking. He is fantastically reasonable and thoughtful, attributes of a talented caregiver overall.

Kiana is overwhelmingly enthusiastic, her consistent energy (even in times of despair) provides a great deal of support to her peers without trying (or realizing for that matter). However, Kiana can come across as air-headed and slightly ignorant, especially in emotional settings. Nevertheless, that doesn’t mean that she is ill-intentioned or doesn’t think of the people around her. She is highly cooperative, considering the opinions of everyone and making sure she does her part. She puts others above herself in hopes they view her as a reliable pillar; a secure ally. It is very rare to have a dull moment with Kiana, for she is sunshine personified.
High ranged, young female, and heavily enthusiastic. Despite her high energy, her tone is slightly monotonous in emotion (For reference, Pinkie Pie from MLP), but can still express a clear variety of feelings. Whimsicality is Azlan’s middle name, as he carries himself to be a free-spirited and overly fast-paced talker. If he isn’t saving lives, he is most likely playing around with friends, enjoying the scarce free time he gets. His beaming–and scarily unwavering–optimism and positivity is not to be mistaken for naivety. No, Azlan is inhumanly intelligent and productive. He rightfully earned his status as one of the most accomplished young men in the medical field.
Medium-low range (for reference, Marshall Lee from Adventure Time), young adult male, and notably expressive (for reference, Miles Morales from ITSV/ATSV). Line delivery is important for Azlan; his inflections, pacing, and exaggerations reflect his personality.

With a crass vocabulary, Sol “passionately” advocates for his own desires well before thinking. Despite his complaints about his own title, he remains confident, hardworking and consistent. However, his confidence is quick to turn into a both loud and fragile ego. Moreover, when challenged, his short fuse is quick to result in explosive fury. He is the epitome of envy and wrath, impulsively utilizing physical force after being verbally stumped.
Medium range, young adult male, and hotheaded. Looking for a voice that can be consistently combative and rowdy (for reference, Raphael from TMNT). Expect to exercise lots of volume and inflections. A southern accent may be included, but is not required.

But, Xiyue’s personality isn’t as smooth as his gameplay–he is an agonizingly pessimistic mess, who fluctuates between anxious mumbles of “what-if”s and awkward, crazed rambles. To reiterate: in exchange for world-class gaming skills, Xiyue’s ability to socialize with others has plummeted (besides his teammates, probably). Though if one were to breach through his shell, he can actually provide engaging and meaningful discussion.

Not much is known about Sasha–having limited records and no family, it’s as though she never existed to begin with. They lived off-the-grid for as long as they can remember, embracing the freedom and independence that came with it. With that, they are naturally rebellious and are deeply protective over their autonomy. Furthermore, he is prone to fear and intimidation tactics, lashing out at anyone who seems to be dancing on the line of controlling them. So, Sasha is deeply cautious of who she holds close, oftentimes seeking out suspicious or unusual behaviors and performing tests on their loyalty.

Being awfully timid, the dressmaker prefers to fade into the background, hidden behind the fear of being an inconvenience. She has an apparent lack of self-assertion, quick to nod her head to whatever the group leader decides is correct regardless of what she believes. Ayame finds deep satisfaction in being “beneficial” towards others, prioritizing the ones she serves to well before serving herself. Caring for others is second nature to Ayame due to her self-forgetting nature, melting into those surrounding her. Ultimately, she is an incredible supporter and listener when approached, willing to do whatever it takes to keep everything in harmony.

A director of numerous masterpieces, Chang tells deeply vivid stories through film. Despite their uncanny ability to depict incredibly abstract feelings and concepts in film, they are chronically avoidant in day-to-day life. They have an immovable anchor of self-sufficiency, showing disinterest in forming bonds, socializing, or trusting others with anything deeper than the surface-level. They avoid emotions like the plague, thus turning to logic, reason, and competence. Chang remains hidden behind a cold exterior, possessing a very deep inner world that very few have ever been let in to see. When–by the very rare chance–they allow someone within their iron walls, the connection that results is deeply raw.

Their tone is oftentimes blunt, even if they don’t intend it to be (for reference, Saiki from Saiki K or Homura from Madoka Magica). When thinking of how to portray Chang, it is important to note that they struggle to understand tone at times.

Conquering advertisements, magazines, and shows, Jun is a highly prominent character in the world of fashion. He possesses an effortless charm, strutting through the world with a child-like and expressive nature. However, Jun is highly reliant on the assistance of others, especially in decisionmaking. In fact, his indecisiveness makes him overdependent on the presence of others, becoming too ignorant with his own responsibilities and expecting tasks to be done for him. Additionally, his assumption that those around him are here to help him leads to oblivion of ill-willed situations. Regardless, Jun is a loving, forgiving person who unintentionally keeps striving for true recognition.

Though underneath it all, she is rather clever and goal-driven, knowing how to easily escalate or deescalate situations. She regularly has a precise read on her peers, finding them predictable. Her emphasis on “just having fun” is simply an illusive excuse for something larger. What could it possibly be? Nobody but Marin knows.

Regardless of whatever connections, Nikolai is well-versed in a myriad of subjects, willing to extend his support to anywhere needed. He is not naturally extroverted, avoiding taking the initiative, yet still does his best for everyone.
Medium-low range, young adult male, and wispy (like Deckard from Bee and PuppyCat). He is gentle with words, always afraid to offend, and has an “elevated” tone because of his socioeconomic background.

The Castellan
Monodoll is an unexplainable entity, appearing to be a life-sized animatronic doll with extraterrestrial origins. She–or rather, it–is meant to guide the participants of the castle and keep watch of the grounds. Enforcing rules left and right, it is unclear whether there is a force controlling Monodoll or not–what are her intentions? In this soon-to-be string of tragedies, perhaps the reason for it all shall unfold.
High-low range, feminine. Robotic-like, unnatural sounding, irregular pacing (for reference, Cyn from Murder Drones or the average Vocaloid). Imitates an AI-generated voiceover (for reference, self-checkout lady at the grocery store), but has the ability to convey different types of emotions. She is MEANT to be creepy.
