CHI Project - Casting Round 2
Project Overview
Every 7 years, the prestigious King's Invitational is held in the nation of Lyssidia. Sponsors seek out only the most promising gladiator candidates to rise to the occasion. The prize? An audience with the king himself, as well as one wish that he MUST oblige, no matter what...
...or so the announcements claim.
In reality, very few newcomers make it to that stage, with event after event falling into the hands of an aristocracy with no intentions of allowing any threats to the status quo to pass.

Gang leader of the largest Sukeban group in the city, and former friend of Izumi "Skylar Spark" Rokujou, though at the time she was unaware of the latter's true identity. This reveal has caused her to become quite bitter.
Asuka has a chip on her shoulder regarding anything to do with the Rokujou Group, blaming it for each of the misfortunes that have befallen her ever since it began occupying the part of the city she lived in. Since then, she has accumulated a group of like-minded and similarly disenfranchised youths under her leadership, which has grown to encompass many of the different street gangs wandering the area.
Asuka's often sarcastic and caustic, but really she's just a deeply hurt person. Preferably her voice should be on the deeper side with a rough edge. Outside of sudden outbursts of emotion, the volume of her speech stays consistently low in a drawl.

Deka doesn't say much, but when she does it's cryptic and vaguely poetic. Jury's out on whether she's cool or not.
It's not that she is intentionally withholding information, but rather that she's not entirely present, often lost in her thoughts. She appears aloof and unflappable, but she begins fiddling with her yoyo when she's nervous.
Deka's voice is soft-spoken and husky, and she drags out her sentences.

Patriarch of the Minamoto Clan, a Rokujou Group subsidiary.
Hikaru is a gruff and taciturn man of considerable height who leads one of the many clans that make up the Corporate Risk Management Sector of the Rokujou Group. Tasked with eliminating threats to the security of both physical and financial properties owned by the Group, Hikaru takes his job very seriously, carrying out assignments with complete loyalty. As the sukeban have become more organized, he and the biosoldiers under his command have been tasked with cleaning up.
Hikaru speaks calmly and slowly with careful enunciation and formal diction. He should have a deep voice that carries with it the weight of authority and perhaps a bit of resignation. Sometimes he comes across like a strict instructor.

Bio-soldier of the Minamoto Clan, a Rokujou Group subsidiary.
Outspoken sadist with an unhealthy obsession with Kaori "Electra" Rokujou, heiress to the Rokujou Group. It's unclear what the root of the obsession is, but Niou often vaguely mentions that some wrongdoing has been inflicted on her.
The Rokujou Group would prefer not to have a clear threat to its heiress roam free, but Niou has proven to be extremely tenacious, avoiding attempts to execute her, and outright coming back to life under absurd conditions. With very few options left, the Group has opted to incorporate her into the Minamoto Clan, both as an enforcer, and as a research subject.
Niou is unstable, oscillating between the picture of perfect calmness and speaking with a shaky voice of barely contained emotion. Whether it's anger or laughter she's containing is unclear.

While Tama is a scientist first and foremost, she has been enjoying tagging along with the rest of the Minamoto Clan. She finds being cooped up all day to be quite dull really, and that in order to really see how her genemods perform she should watch her subjects fight in real battles and not staged test environments.
Tama is polite and cheerful, perhaps unnervingly so. Maybe like an evil Mary Poppins. She does have an umbrella...

Always masked and covered head to toe in a large jacket, not much can be discerned regarding Kurenai's identity, aside from the large crow-like feet that have been grafted in place of human ankles.
Kurenai speaks haltingly and exclusively in half-whispers as words are very difficult for them.

Bio-soldier of the Minamoto Clan. Formerly leader of a large bancho gang known as The Fools, until biting off a bit more than they could chew.
The gang was swiftly eradicated, with Nagase being made an example by the Rokujou Group. Now he is a reanimated puppet serving the orders of those he once fought. It's not done good things for his sanity.
Nagase speaks in a carefree and laidback manner, almost singsongy at times.

III: Tiger of the Cerberus Triad's Twelve Stars.
The main appeal of being part of the Triad for most is security. Yes, the Triad can be brutal to its enemies and harsh with its "family," but the fear it inspires appeals to those who lack the power to command respect on their own. Roaz, however, is different. Roaz loves fighting, perhaps irresponsibly so. Very few can stop them from pursuing an obsession, but they have enough tact to stick mostly to the mission at hand. Regardless of their membership in the Triad, they would have become a feared combatant given enough time. But what membership does promise to them is the guaranteed appearance of particularly dangerous opponents, which otherwise Roaz wouldn't be able to cross paths with. The sort of opponent that only can be found in certain parts of the world unseen by the average person.
Roaz speaks in a low but dangerous tone, like a bomb waiting to go off. They don't raise their voice much.

An engineer wearing their own handmade exoskeleton. The device wasn't operating at an acceptable safety standard for civilian purposes, so Ram gave it some modifications and took it to the Cerberus Triad for some field testing. Now Ram operates as a top enforcer for the Triad's activities.
Members of the Triad dislike working under Ram, as those people have a tendency to disappear, with new "projects" appearing in Ram's workshop afterwards.
Ram is largely preoccupied with their work, so they tend to be calm and analytical.

The titular Yellow of the gladiator duo Blue and Yellow.
The individual known as the "Templar of Cute" has no accessible records. One day she appeared, exploded a city block with a point of her sword, and announced she was going to eradicate all monsters.
Naturally she was scouted and hired as a gladiator on the spot.
The only hint to her origins is a strange glow in the sky whenever she casts her ultimate move.
In casual settings she goes by "Rachel" but it is unclear whether that is her actual name.
Rachel speaks like a knight out of some old fantasy epic. If you've ever aspired to be a Shakespeare actor, I think this has similar vibes.

The eponymous Blue of the gladiator duo Blue and Yellow, Blue has earned the moniker The Revenant for being seemingly unkillable. Regardless of the severity of her injuries, or even the apparent stopping of her heart, Blue stands back up.
By all accounts, she appeared to spontaneously come into existence sometime after the Templar of Cute appeared, and the two have remained inseparable since.
In casual settings, she refers to herself as "Megan."
Megan is completely monotone when she speaks, and she tends to speak rather quickly.

Quarter is a consummate professional in all places except for the battlefield. That's how she handles her anger management issues instead of a therapist.
Quarter's pitch should be on the deeper end. Big plus if you've got an impression for the Administrator from Team Fortress 2.

Penny has a cute, high-pitched voice. They are not entirely happy with how it undermines their ability to intimidate others. Very prone to grumbling their words into being difficult to understand.

Jax was the first employee to join Quarter Bureau, under the promise that it'd be different. Freelancer Guilds these days are little more than extensions of the police force or a corporation's private military, which inherently compromises their prioritizes. Jax believed that Quarter would change things. But he sees how the contracts have been coming from higher and higher places rather than from the people in the area, and he's just not sure anymore.
Jax doesn't have much energy when he speaks, but he maintains an air of professionalism nonetheless. He doesn't have much in the way of a sense of humor.

Faced with pressure from a huge corporation, Quarter was forced to let him go. Now he spends his time waiting tables. Still, he hasn't given up on that case yet. He's promised Kayo to see it though.
Jun isn't unfriendly persay, but he is a bit reserved when he speaks. He's generally serious and practical, but at heart he's an idealist who wants to be a hero.

Recently awakened from a coma, Kayo is still adjusting to her new body and the world that has moved in her absence.
Some decades ago, Kayo was one of the first to undergo the golemification process invented by the Orpheus Company. Her adoptive mother was a famous gladiator at the time, and arranged for Kayo to cut the line to be among the first for the operation's waitlist. Kayo wasn't happy that this decision was made without her consent, and she parted on bad terms with her mother.
The Orpheus Company was then hit with a massive scandal before Kayo could be operated on, living her soul stuck in cold storage for decades until it all blew over. She was then released back into the world, only to discover her mother had seemingly disappeared off the face of the planet. With no home left to go to, she wandered for a bit until she met Jun. Hearing of her plight, Jun vowed to help her discover what happened to her mother.
Kayo speaks very formally, but she can be playful and haughty depending on her mood. Given how much time has passed, her accent is slightly outdated for the time period.

Elite officer of the Lyssidian Transit Police
As mutants and bandits occupy much of the land between cities, intercity public transportation can be quite dangerous. As a result, the government assigns its most promising police officers to man the Bifrost Corporation trains that run between cities.
Macbeth is a rookie at this branch of the police force, but they have proven themselves quite competent. Of note is their immense CHI reserves, which allows them to build temporary rails on the fly in the event the train must be diverted unexpectedly.
Macbeth is soft-spoken and a bit insecure in their abilities.

Several years ago, his daughter Serena was bedridden from a rare genetic mutation. While she was at the hospital, she suddenly disappeared. Bob's attempts to investigate the matter were stonewalled by higher ups. Upon further investigation, he discovered that his daughter had likely been sold to the Cerberus Triad due to her rare condition... and that the police force itself had let it happen.
After making some arrangements to be assigned to a case in Galehar, he's arrived in the city in hopes of reuniting with Serena.
Bob should have a deep but gentle voice. He's a kind man, if a bit absent-minded.

Bouncer and waitress at the Waning Crescent by day, assistant to a private eye by night.
Linzhi is an upbeat go-getter who's been raring to take on a real challenge, but has largely been kept to smaller assignments by her adoptive guardian, former Second Class Freelancer "The Judge," also colloquially known as "Madam Bao" by customers. She understands that the world they live in is a dangerous place, but that doesn't stop her from being a bit miffed whenever she's left out of the action.
Linzhi is bubbly and friendly, with a bit of a mischievous streak. She's never afraid to express to her annoyance, sometimes with brass knuckles in hand.

One of the dime a dozen gladiators sponsored by the Rokujou Group.
Troezen "Macaque" Suen (known as "Troy" to friends) struggled for a long time to break into the gladiator scene, stuck only fighting amateurs at local tournaments. Until one day, a talent scout associated with the Group approached them, offering a contract in exchange for testing out a new genemod.
Needless to say, Troy jumped at the opportunity, their desperation to be someone finally bearing fruit. Being someone, however, has not been as fun as imagined. Lots of time has been spent in hospital rooms as technicians and doctors monitor Tro's internals, sometimes adding or subtracting more and more genemods. The process is lengthy, and often leaves them with sicknesses that require pills and careful dietary management.
Still, Troy remains optimistic they'll one day be among the greats. It just might take a while.
Troy is chipper and a bit scatterbrained. They talk faster and faster until they forget what the original topic was.

I've been thinking... so you know how the people from Ogygia sometimes have gills? My neck is one of those places that get really sweaty after exercise and I don't really like it, it starts dripping down my shirt. I would HATE to live in Ogygia, I'd have sweat pouring down into the gills and then eugh! Oh, but would I start choking? Like, they need the gills to breathe underwater, but they have noses too. I dunno, have you ever met anyone from there?

Cornelia Constance Doyle (Coco for short) is a B-tier gladiator competing in the King's Invitational.
Coco is easily annoyed, channeling a lot of that rage into the questionably healthy outlet of beating people up for sport. This is not helped by the constant reminder that her father is a prominent sportscaster, and the many ensuing accusations regarding her career's basis being entirely fueled by nepotism.
Coco is undeniably quite skilled. Not many sculptors are skilled enough to puppet their creations, and even fewer can do so at the scale she does, where she controls an entire army of pawns, rooks, and bishops. But no matter how much effort she puts in, it gnaws at her that people will always undermine her efforts.
Coco speaks in a bit of a tired tone that gives off the impression she'd rather not be here.
