Project Overview
Welcome to the auditions for "Checkmate: The Game of Life"
Checkmate is a psychological horror that follows the tales of our main cast as they try to handle this new and unknown force. This unknown force seems to only come along after they all separately get sent an email with a link attached to it. Once opened their lives change forever.
Requirements
YOU MUST BE 18 OR OLDER:
- There is no sexual content in this project. However, we want you to be over the age of 18 because of the dark topics this project contains. IF you are turning 18 BEFORE the deadline you may still audition. Other than that, NO EXCEPTIONS!
The microphone you use must have little to no background noise:
- If there is any static, people talking in the background, or any noise that can not be easily edited out your audition will NOT be considered. We will be very strict on this rule.
Can handle strong language and dark topics:
- Curse Words
- Mentions of Suicide/Murder
- Mental Illness
- Emotional and Mental Abuse
Must have discord:
- If cast you will be sent an invitation to join our private server. This is where you will find all of the scripts and hold live direction sessions with me. Also so you can interact with our team and make some new friends. We are very welcoming here at Checkmate!
Flexible availability:
- Must have time to work on the project, THIS IS A LONG TERM PROJECT. So please do not audition if you think you may have to leave for some reason.
- Have time for live direction sessions. These are one on one sessions if you are not comfortable with live direction please tell me and we'll talk about it.
- Communication is key! If you are busy or have to delay a session please tell me first and not last minute.
Able to accept USD as future payment:
- We are starting up a Kickstarter. You will be paid for providing your work.
- We will talk with you privately about rates and how much you will be getting per line. *Even if Kickstarter doesn't do well, payment is guaranteed.
- We will use CashApp and PayPal as ways to pay you.
If cast, do not discuss anything about the project outside of those participating in the project unless mentioned on the Checkmate Twitter or I give you permission to do so.
IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!
As of now, we have the whole first season planned. We have all the groundwork for the entire season, though for now, we are only doing the pilot episode and a trailer or two. We plan to have ten episodes in this season with each episode running between 20-30 minutes long. THESE AUDITIONS ARE ONLY FOR THE PILOT! We will hold future auditions for characters that appear in later episodes, which we will update you on as time passes. The reason for this is because of possible spoilers and right now our main focus is only the pilot.
As for payment, it is unavailable as of now but it will be in the future, guaranteed. We will be using Kickstarter to raise funds as well as money from my own pocket. If the Kickstarter doesn’t work out well you will still be paid for your time; I wouldn’t promise payment if I couldn’t uphold that agreement.
If cast as a main or side character you will be with us for the remainder of the project. Characters with icons are important to the pilot as well as the series in general. Any side characters in the pilot will become the main characters as the series progresses. Extras will be multicast as other extras in future episodes and still be paid ($2/line). So everyone cast will be staying with us.

You won’t let me use my computer, my TV, my phone, none of which you pay the bills for, because you’re scared of this nonexistent horror fan fiction you read! I just want to come home one day and not find my girlfriend with another man on the couch. I just want to come home and use the things I wish to use. I just want to live my life the way it’s meant to be lived. Without someone else forcing themselves into it!”

[Angered/Totally Done] “Irrational?! I’m IRRATIONAL?! Do NOT tell me I'm being irrational! We just had one of our friends, your best friend, might I mention, taken because of something we could have helped prevent!!”
[Avoiding Topic/Optimistic] “Anyway, uhm, you don’t need to be sorry for wanting to be around us so often. It really doesn’t bother me, you’re reaching out for help. *searches for words* Patrick… He’s coming around to it.”

Selena Rascon: Timid but also that kinda girl that you can tell anything too. The reason why she's so open and willing to lend an ear for anyone to vent is that she has been through a lot emotionally and wishes she had a person that would do the same for her.
