Candied Carols is a classic dating simulator/otome game/romance visual novel based loosely on The Nutcracker. The game is set to be released in December of 2019 and is completely SFW/suitable for ALL ages. It is meant to be a cutesy, lighthearted game for players to engage in the magic of the winter season.

AUDITIONS: This is a paid casting call, and all actors will be credited both in-game and on our website, social media, etc. Prior experience is not mandatory. Be sure that your auditions showcase your best audio quality! Because of how soon the project is set to release, we reserve the right to recast a character if you cannot meet deadlines. Recording will begin the week after characters are cast. Please have either a discord account [preferred] or an email that you check regularly so that we can keep in contact. Auditions will only be accepted through this casting call.
You are welcome to audition for multiple roles, but you will only be cast for one character. Please do not audition if you are under the age of 16.
DETAILS/PAYMENT:
Each character's reel will consist of 50-75 soundbites that will accompany expression changes with each sprite. These are short vocalizations like laughs, sighs. etc. There will be additional fully-voiced lines that will play at more important moments in each route and accompanied with a CG. Full recordings for each character should not exceed 10 minutes. Base payment is 20USD - if we should need additional lines beyond those 10 minutes, we will pay an additional 10USD/minute. Payment will be made through Paypal.

This is a romance-able character and has his own route.
Jack is a jovial young man who always wants to keep the peace and make others smile - especially "Clara," the MC/player character. Although not as energetic as other members of the Candied Palace's court, he is friendly, welcoming, and eager to have fun. The only person he seems to get into arguments with is... Dietrich, the Rat King... but even then, Jack tries to keep his voice even and calm. Jack lives in the Candied Palace with Fae and the members of her court. Since Fae is usually alone, he is the one who interacts with the village and represents the palaces' interests.
Jack is a human, unlike the other members of Fae's court.
Jack's voice should be youthful, but smooth, and at a medium range.
[Slowly, as if he's unsure]: I was giving some thought to what you told me before - that I have a habit of going along with whatever /you/ want. And... I just wanted you to like me.
[Very excited]: I'm so, so happy to see you again, Clara. I was afraid that maybe it was too late and that you had forgotten us.
[Clara really doesn't remember and tries to tell him.]
I know, I know. You don't really remember us, but I think it will just take a little time. I've always been in your heart. The proof is right there.
This is a romance-able character and has his own route.
Dietrich is the king of the Rat Kingdom and is not a very [immediately] likeable man. He is brash, sharp-tongued, and hasty in all decisions. Once he settles and gets to know the MC, however, he softens (although still maintains some degree of an... attitude). The Rat Kingdom is an uncomfortable, barren land. There is very little food and the lands are not suitable for farming. Castle Cragg juts out of the mountain and towers over the dilapidated village, but no one lives inside besides Dietrich. To add to this isolation, the Rat Kingdom is separated from the Sugar Plum Fields by a great mountain range that only experienced climbers can navigate, making their situation yet more dire.
Dietrich is a human, just like Jack and "Clara," the MC. There are no members in his court - he lives alone.
His voice should be rough and informal with a medium-medium low range.

[Why?]

[But...]
Shaddap! I'm sick of your yapping.
[Clara mentions that Jack and Fae could help with the food shortage.]
[Dietrich, bitterly]: Oh, I know! You just want to run away, back to that stupid man! It's so great over there, isn't it? So sparkly and vibrant. They've got everything they could ever want!
[Considerably softer]: Sit there and warm up. You're cold. Don't need you to get sick. That'd really be...
This is a romance-able character and has her own route.
Fae is the beautiful queen of the Sugar Plum Fields, a rich and prosperous land, and she resides in the Candied Palace. Her magical, ethereal presence is almost unreal, and everyone who meets her falls in love with her charm. Despite this, however, Fae finds herself separated from the other members of her court and the village that she watches over. Although the court is not unfriendly, Fae believes it more appropriate that she maintains distance from her subjects. She hides her quiet loneliness with perfect hospitality and grace befitting of... well... a queen!
She is a fairy - one of the magically-gifted members of the cast.
Fae's voice should be light and musical. She never raises her voice, although she sometimes has a few stern words for Dietrich, the Rat King.
This necklace was given to one of my students from the village... I believe he became your grandfather. As I remember, he fell in love with a woman from another world, gave up his magic, and left us to live with her. A romantic story, isn't it?
I would love if I had someone by my side - someone who understood. I hope you don't mind me saying that.
[Chiding Dietrich]: Dietrich, should I call the guards to remove you from Clara?
We will do what we can to keep you safe, but you should speak with your own people about your personal safety.
This is a romance-able character and has his own route.
Alistair resides alone in the Always-Winter Forest, a frozen grove of trees near the Sugar Plum Fields. He is rarely seen by the other characters and is even feared by members of Fae's court. He is quiet, solitary, and does not welcome humans into his forest (or his castle of ice). His relationship with the MC is strange and solemn, but this was not always so. Many years ago, he happily danced with them in a flurry of snowflakes on Christmas Eve... but something has changed.
Alistair is another one of the magically-gifted cast and is the spirit of winter.
His voice is quiet and serene with a medium low/low range. He speaks slowly, pausing to choose his words carefully.
[Somber and pensive]: When you were a child... the first time we met in this forest... I conjured a flurry of snowflakes and danced with you. Or... tried to.
As soon as I touched your hand, you fell back and cried... My touch had given you frostbite.
[Commanding tone]: What are you doing here? What are you doing in this forest?
[Slow realization]: I see...
...It's you... What are you doing here...?
...you must be lost. Jack and the others will be looking for you.
This is not your home. You should not grow comfortable here.
But... I will not force you to leave.
Marz is an envoy from the land of Chocolate. He and Tempo are never far away from one another and always cracking jokes back and forth (although Marz's usually fall flat). He resides with Jack in the Candied Palace (along with other members of the court). Marz is kind and down-to-earth, vying for attention in order to catch the attention of... Azra, an envoy from the land of Coffee. Unfortunately, his schemes always go unnoticed and backfire, making him a regular object for teasing in the group (but it's all in good fun).
Marz is one of the magically gifted characters - he is a woodland spirit.
His voice is rougher than Jack, but not grating like Dietrich. He has a medium to medium low range.
[With great bravado] Nah, I've gotta keep some intrigue to lure in the ladies. If I keep it a secret, I'll have something up my sleeve on da--
My jokes are great! Clara would laugh at them! C'mon, back me up, Clara!
[Everyone laughs at him.]
Aw, come on... cut me a break...
I went over to the cafe to see if there was something Azra might like.
[Clara asks what he bought.]
[Naughty/sneaky]: It's a surprise. Can't tell you.
Tempo is an envoy from the land of Tea and spends his days cracking jokes with Marz (and AT Marz). He is always intensely happy and energetic, completely unaware that he often irritates his friends and takes his jokes a bit too far. Still, he is far too lovable for anyone to be angry for long. Tempo lives in the Candied Palace along with other members of Fae's court and hails from a very mysterious kingdom of floating islands that produces the latest technology.
Tempo is one of the magically-gifted characters - he is a sylph (air spirit),
His voice is energetic and sparkling with a medium-medium high range.
It's all Marz's fault, right Clara? His jokes are so terrible that they make you want to cry.

[Clara asks if s/he has grown any taller.]
