Quick Synopsis
The story revolves around 2 married couples and how their lives take a dangerous turn when a new client arrives with a lot of money to invest at the financial company where the two husbands work. In addition, each of the four lead characters has their own stories and issues they face.
Jack Bradley is struggling with the demands at work and marriage problems brought about by his roving eye while trying to keep his current girlfriend from destroying everything.
Bex Bradley is about to embark upon a journey of sexual discovery while trying to make up for lost time after growing up within a restrictive religious environment. A playful chat with her husband sparked a flame and awoken desires she never knew existed within her.
Ralph Moore gets dragged into a dark underworld brought upon him by a new client at work while trying to keep up with the insatiable demands of his wife.
Mags Moore. A high risk taking thrill seeker who is looking to fill the void left inside her from an abusive childhood. But with the events about to transpire – are the risks she faces even too much for her?
There will be numerous supporting and minor roles available both initially and as we move on through the story. The roles available listed here will grow in time.
What I’m Looking For
For You
At the moment I'm giving the Lead and Support roles a $$ amount for the project as I'm looking for strong personalities for them. In future chapters, if there is demand, I'll be open to increasing these amounts if I'm able and to also "promote" any minor or extra roles into more prominent roles if the actor playing them does a good job and thereby paying a $$ amount for these roles too.
I’ll also make sure you get full credit within the visual novel itself and will include any social media / website links you want including. I’ll also give you a shout out through my own social media channels where I have about 20,000 or so combined followers at the moment in the hope you get some more opportunities come your way.

I've added a low-fee extra female role into the cast after I've jiggled some scenes around. She's only a two scene character so far but she may become recurring as the story progesses.

Ralph Moore, 42, is a people pleaser. He's always looking to put others first and ensuring that they are well before considering himself. His young wife, Mags, has an insatiable appetite for all that is good and he spends most of his free time giving her everything that she wants. And she wants a lot. She's tireless and demanding in the bedroom. A whirlwind social butterfly. And she never stops spending the money he earns. But he loves her more than anything and so he'll do anything for her - even when it goes against the things he believes in and he has to bring .. 'outside help' .. into the relationship to feed her desires.
Fortunately for Ralph, he's a partner in an Investment Company and so historically has had the means to somewhat satisfy her material wants. But all that might be about to end. The company is in financial trouble. His reckless business partner has scared off some big clients. But that same partner has a solution - a new investor with rumours linking him to organised crime. And Ralph is the guy who deals with clients. Could this client, the one that could save the company lead Ralph, his wife and his friends down a dangerous and deadly path?
[Exasperated] Jesus Frank! He's already got his people speaking to Jimmy D. He's moving his entire portfolio there.
[Scrambling for a reason to say no] I dunno, Frank. I dunno. What about the rumours? They’re ain’t no smoke without fire. There’s gotta be something in them, right? There’s gotta be!?!
[Fatherly advice to a friend] What you doing still messing with Sophie for, Jack? She’s not going to be any good for you in the long run. Go home. Make love to Bex. Be a husband to her. Forget about Sophie.
Hutch is a 35 year old veteran who has fallen on hard times since he was medically discharged. While serving in Afghanistan Hutch's Humvee he was riding with in convoy was caught in an ambush - it was hit with an IED and multiple RPGs and small arms fire. All the occupants of the Humvee were killed except for Hutch who came out of it with barely a scratch. Survivor guilt and the ensuing PTSD has seen Hutch swirl on a downward spiral ever since.
Once home, relationships deteriorated and he turned to drugs to alleviate the darkness he felt day to day. He ended up spending periods of time alternating living on the streets or living in roach pits, engaging in petty crime and street dealing to help pay for his drugs.
Hutch can be charming and welcoming one moment and then unstable and aggressive the next and could therefore be a challenging role for a VA.
Hutch only appears in a couple of scenes Chapter 1 - however, his role will grow larger in future chapters and future fees will represent that.

[Disbelief with rising intensity] You flushed my shit? You flushed my fucking shit? What? Are you fucking crazy?

Laura McIntosh is an early 40s financial broker and business-woman. She grew up in and entered an area of business that was dominated by men in the early 1990s She faced the put downs, the misogyny, the casual sexual innuendos and the laughing behind her back.
She won.
She now runs a successful brokerage and investment firm in the Valley dealing with clients small and large. In business she can be assertive and ruthless when needed - always demanding the best from herself and those who work with and for her. When away from the office, she can relax, party and be great company.
Laura is only a relatively small role in Behind the Curtain but could be recurring in the future - hence why she is for now a small fee role.
[Ultimatum; Business-like] You have untill 4pm to get here and convince me you're still a good bet. Otherwise I'm moving everything to Jimmy D.
[Assertive] I don't care. I'm too old and tired to put up with his bullshit anymore. You need to do something too Ralph or he'll drag you down with him.
[Casual; reminiscing] Remember when we were just fresh faced kids out of school? The whole world in front of us? Where the hell did those two go?
Lisa Bennet is a 25 year old Police Officer with the LAPD. Her career is everything and she loves her job. She's very professional when dealing with members of the public and respectful when dealing with the less desirable.
Alesha makes a 1 scene appearance in Chapter 1 of Behind The Curtain hence why hers is a low fee role at this stage - but she will be a recurring character in future Chapters with her role growing and fee growing in that time.

[Casual Chat] .. just a low level street dealer .. nothing for you to be too concerned about ..
Simon Burke is a 19 year old young man who works in a local Jewelry store. He's a bit of a tech whizz .. a "nerd" .. if you will but who finds himself extremely nervous in social situations, certainly with attractive women. So when he becomes ensnared in such a woman's elaborate scam he ends up like putty in her hands.
Simon appears in one scene in Chapter 1 of Behind The Curtain hence why for now why it's a low fee role at this stage - but he role could grow in future chapters and with it the fee.
[Nervous Welcome] Can I help you Ms?
[Nervously Shocked At A Request] I don't think we have something like that .. we only sell Jewelry
[Nervous Realization] Are you .. playing me? Are you trying to steal that?
Skye Divine (real name : Julia Fredricks), 19 years old, was raised by her grandparents on their farm in the Mid-West after her mother suffered a mental breakdown when Skye was still a baby. Nobody knew who her father was. Growing up she'd spend hours watching the Oldies on TV with her grandma and she'd dream of being another Bette Davis, a Judy Garland or Katherine Heburn. So intent she was to be a movie star she left the farm at 16 and headed to Hollywood. Unfortunately, she ended up doing illegal porn (due to her age) produced by Albanian gangsters. She managed to escape this when she was picked up by a genuine movie agent who promised everything she wanted. He told her : " .. sign here, suck this, and I'll make you a star!". To be fair, he did invest money into her and sent her to Drama school. But it was obvious to anybody who saw her act that she was never going to make it.
To get a return on his money, the agent persuaded her to go back into porn and she signed an initial short contract with the Sticky Fingers porn studio. After doing some scenes within which she impressed, she was signed up on a longer contract. Things really changed for Skye when Vinnie Mancia invested money into the studio, he promised to " .. buy her a new pair of tits", and a beautiful loving relationship began.
Skye has a fatal naivety to her, she trusts anybody who says the right things, isn't blessed with intelligence, is easily manipulated and has an almost childlike demeanor and wonderment about her.
Skye only appears briefly in Chapter 1 hence hers being a low fee role at this stage - however, her role will grow larger in future chapters and future fees will represent that.
[Matter of fact; No shame] Oh, that’s cool. Vinnie likes me to do it with girls.
[Excited] I’ve got a lot of acting heroes : Judy Garland. Bette Davis ... Jenna Jameson.
[Almost childlike playfulness] Oh is my Vinnie poorly? How about little Sky-ee Why-ee sucks out the bad?
Ami is a early 20s Japanese American woman who works at The Coffee Stop with Bex Bradley. She's excitable in nature and constantly getting wrapped up and involved in the dramas of others. She loves to speculate upon peoples intentions and motivations, certainly where relationships are involved.
Ami has a small recurring role in Behind The Curtain appearing only in 1 scene in Chapter 1 albeit with a number of lines. She will no doubt appear in chapters in the future.

[Calculating] I just need to work out what his next move is going to be ..
[Shocked; Excited] Oh my god! I knew it! What did you say?
Brad Dunne, 20 years old, is a young man who runs his own surf business down at the beach. He makes his own boards and paints them. However, he's not a very good businessman. His boards are great - but he much prefers being out riding waves than making the actual boards and making money from them. As such, his workshop sits dormant most of the time but to make ends meet he works in the back yards of some local households a few hours a week. Sadly, he's not very good at gardening or general handyman work either. In fact, he's not very good at much. He never bothered with school or getting an education as he all ever wanted to do was surf.
Fortunately though for Brad he fits a tight pair of denims real well. Due to the summer heat, he'll often strip down to his shorts while he works in the gardens and, when it gets too hot, you'll find him hosing himself down with water from a garden hose until he's cool enough to go back to work. He gets a lot of job offers from local women who are in desperate need of having their immaculate yards tampered with while their husbands are out working in the city. Remarkably, always naive and oblivious, Brad actually thinks the demand for his time is for his gardening skills.
Brad is your typical surfer dude from California.

(excited) Whoa! Dude! There's like nothing riding a huge wave .. it's like, totally rad man
(helpful) Hi I'm Brad .. I'm here to .. [reading from piece of paper] .. " .. trim Mrs Moores bush"?
(scrambling; saw someting you shouldn't) Ohhh .. I'm .. real sorry . I .. ehm .. I .. never saw anything, I swear!
Gino Saletta, a 28 year old man from upstate New York and Vinnie Mancia's Guy. He drives for Vinnie. He watches Vinnies back. He gets drinks for Vinnie. Sometimes speaks for Vinnie. And fucks people up for Vinnie. He became embroiled with the Fanucci family and Vinnie Mancia after the19 year old Gino had done a couple of years jail time for dealing drugs. When serving he got involved with a few guys - one of whom was part of The Family and doing life for murder. They became buddies and when Gino got released he was visited by an associate of Vinnie with a recomendation of being a stand up guy ringing in his ears.
Vinnie put him to work on small scale jobs to begin with and Gino excelled. A quiet professionalism and a quiet tongue gets you a long way in this kind of work. Vinnie was impressed and so started putting bigger and bigger jobs his way. When Vinnie had to head west he chose Gino to come with him. He had more trusted guys working for him. Maybe even more capable. But Gino was still a bit of an unknown and could maybe continue doing jobs for Vinnie without drawing too much attention.
Gino is a quietly spoken Italian American. His quiet voice adds a little menace to when he tells people he's not too happy with them. As usual, a consistent Italian American New York accent will get a thumbs up but don't worry it won't go against you if you can't as long as you could bring Gino to life in other ways.

(instructional) Listen. Be absolutely sure you get the right guys. We can only do two runs, ok? So you have to be sure. You got it?
(friendly greeting) Hey Jacky. Hows things? What can I get you?
Dan is a regular at The Coffee Stop where Bex works part-time. He has an obvious romantic interest in Bex but she's not overly interested. However, Dan it persistent if nothing else. He's cool in temperament and suave in his approach to social situations.
Dan only appears briefly in Chapter 1 hence his being a unpaid - however, his role could grow in future chapters and future fees will represent that.
[Introduction] It's Dan. It's nice to meet you again - Bex isn't it?

Helen Lloyd is the PA to Ralph Moore at the Valley Investment Firm. She's originally from England and moved out to the west coast of America a number of years back after meeting a man online. Sadly, they've now divorced but Helen chose to stay in her new home. She has quite a "plummy" and posh high class English accent.
Helen Lloyd is a minor recurring character in Behind The Curtain appearing in one scene (with a number of lines) in Chapter 1 hence being an unpaid role. She'll no doubt appear in future chapters as the story progresses.

Amanda Derbyshire is a mid-20s American woman who works on the reception at the Valley Golf Club. She is generally pleasant but can be quite abrasive when provoked.
Amanda has two small appearances in Chapter 1 hence his being a unpaid - however, her role could grow larger in future chapters and future fees will represent that.
[Addressing A Customer]And that's you all booked in. You'll be due on the first tee at 8:05am. I hope you have a good round.

Linda is part of the furniture at Valley Investments and one of those longest serving employees at the firm. She's an older woman in her 60s, sharp, snappy, forever helpful and love to 'mother' Ralph and Jack.
Linda is a small role in Chapter 1 with only a couple of lines but could develop further in future chapters as a recurring role.
If you can do (or are) an older woman with a croaky and gravelly voice then bonus points will be awarded!!

Lucy Watson is a 20 year old female who works as a waitress at a local downtown Italian restaurant. She's somebody who is very idealistic yet naïve. She can flip between be very confident when speaking with customers at work to being quite nervous in social situations - especially around those she finds attractive.
Lucy only appears briefly in Chapter 1 hence his being a unpaid - however, her role could grow larger in future chapters and future fees will represent that.

Zoey is the youngster in the office at Valley Investments at 18 and has only recently joined the company. She's keen to learn and progress her career but for now she has to content herself running around grabbing files and helping out other more experienced colleagues within the company.
Zoey only appears briefly in Chapter 1 hence his being a unpaid - however, her role could grow larger in future chapters and any future fees will represent that.
