Amnesia The Dark Descent "Remember - Old Friends"
Project Overview
WHAT IS THIS?
Within Amnesia The Dark Descent's game files there is a PDF titled "Remember" with 5 short stories connecting to the main lore. In celebration of the game's 10 year anniversary, OVAS will be arranging a series of audio dramas of the stories and posting them on our YouTube channel. This casting call page was created in hopes of finding additional voices for the remaining roles.
Want to see what we do? See our other audio dramas and our comic dramas by visiting the channel.
**This casting call is for story #2: "Old Friends". Follow our CCC and/or Twitter to be notified when we post casting call pages for the remaining 3 stories.**
**DISCLAIMER: This story does include character deaths.**
REQUIREMENTS AND DEADLINES
- Provide an email to contact you, send lines, and deliver takes. Once cast, we will send the full lines in a PDF with respective character lines highlighted. Optimally your takes can be sent through the same email using Google Drive.
- Deadline for auditions is August 25th. This is a hard deadline with no current plans to extend.
- Deadline for takes is September 3rd. If you are unable to record/provide lines by that date, don't audition. If we do not receive your takes by this date, you will be recast without payment. **Extra roles are exempt; all lines are written in 'audition lines'.**
- Have a PayPal account, this is how we will pay you for your role. We will send out payment when your takes are delivered and reviewed. If you do not have a PayPal and still decide to audition, do not expect to be paid.
- Retakes may be asked for, but only at rare instances. These instances can include a missing word, incorrect tone/pronunciation, corrupted audio, etc. We will review your takes the day they're delivered to request retakes ASAP if needed.
- Submit a clean audition. You may use noise reduction and your preferred methods to clean up your audio, but any auditions with heavy background noise, clipping, and/or other audio issues will be excluded. **Do not add audio effects. We will add those ourselves if needed.**
- 2 takes maximum. Please refrain from sending an audition with 7+ takes of 1 line. Trim it down to your best 2 takes. If you have a good blooper, feel free to send it in at the end of the audition.
- Feel free to submit multiple auditions. This can either be for the same character or multiple characters, it's your choice.
- Have fun! :)

"Old Friends" is live and ready to watch. Thank you everyone for your contribution, it has turned out wonderfully!! đź’ž VIDEO: https://youtu.be/dKColoxb-uA
Faraj is a kind and older gentleman with enthusiastic views and attitude.
We imagine a joyous and bombastic voice for this character that has wide emotional capabilities. From calm, light-hearted conversation to all out shouting. Some examples of voice being Santa "North" Claus from "Rise of the Guardians" or Zeus from "Hercules".
"Rise of the Guardians" Santa "North" Claus: https://youtu.be/DoIFqU6KCf0
"Hercules" Zeus: https://youtu.be/rgT9gE3QB0g
**Of course don't let these examples restrict you. Feel free to take your own approach on the character.**
(Reuniting with an old friend, classic hug and pat on the back) [happy/joyous] "Herbert!" "So many years, my friend, so many years!"
(A new revelation taking Faraj by surprise) [calm disbelief before bleeding into a jolly laugh] “Are you going, Herbert, are you really...?” “You crazy infidel! How do you do it?!”
(Faraj begging for other characters to not harm his friend) [shouting that becomes increasingly desperate] “Don’t hurt him, please!” “Please, don’t!!” “STOP THIS MADNESS!!!”
Herbert is an older British man excited to bring his friend some good news.
Overall he is a cheerful man, but he has a more reserved/sophisticated attitude to him. Between him and Faraj, Herbert is more of the straight man of the pair. An older British voice would be ideal, but it definitely should be one you can perform a wide range of emotions, from explanatory to enraged to excited.
(Catching up with an old friend with casual conversation.) [casual explanation, some relieved/exhaustion undertones]
“It was a splendid idea to find each other by looking for the minaret tower. But the streets are so unpredictable. As soon as I thought I had arrived, the street would go off in a different direction."
(You're answering the question "What have you told your people in London?") [calm yet confident, almost triumphant]
“The truth. That we are going to find the legendary tomb of Tin Hinan.”
(The dialogue says it all.) [distressed, angry, and loud]
“You just shot my friend...!”
Bahji is a simple goods transporter who was minding his own business until his work is disturbed.
He's a calm character, overall kind and cooperative. However as the story progresses, he becomes increasingly confused and, in a sense, desperate over a tense situation. While there are no outright shouts, Bahji can get loud and stern. There's nothing specific in mind for his voice as long as it's befitting a young Arabic man.
(This character has approached a guard captain, think approaching a police officer scenario.) [curious but calm]
“Is there a problem, captain?”
(Now the guard captain is getting invasive.) [trying to be calm and stern, but hints of desperation to stop the captain]
“Captain, you are performing a criminal act by opening that crate. It is not your business.”
Baki has no chill.
Basically all of his lines are some sort of shout in some kind of anger, but it's justified considering the events happening when his character appears. We're not looking for any exact voice in particular, just one that's fitting a young, vocal man. Being loud and providing convincing shouts is crucial to his lines.
(Said after bursting into the room of the lead characters.) [shouting, first of shock then anger]
“Uncle, what are you doing? He is one of them!”
Standard worker.
There's no particular voice in mind for this character. If you auditioned for other roles and can make your voice distinct enough, feel free to audition here. This is an extra role, all lines are listed here.
(Minding your own business when someone interrupts.) [nonchalant, dead-inside]
"I don't know, it's not mine."
(Bursting into a room.) [urgent and desperate with exhaustion after rushing in]
"Baki, they are coming. We must go!"
