Anime Voice Acting Tournaments
Project Overview
Welcome to AVATAnime Voice Acting TournamentsWhat is this?
Anime Voice Acting Tournaments ("AVAT") is, as the name would imply, a tournament for actors. While this event is titled "Anime Voice Acting Tournaments" it is merely to identify the brand AVAT. AVAT holds a variety of tournaments that are made for all levels of actors. These casting calls do not represent actual projects in their currents state. This casting call is made for individuals to try voice acting for the first time, amateurs practicing in areas they may not be comfortable, or professionals wanting to have some fun and do something different!
Criteria!Don't be afraid to enter if you feel that you microphone quality is not very good, and don't be afraid if you feel that your acting skills aren't very good! With that being said let's jump into the criteria for our casting call!
You will be judged based on your ability to:
- Voice the character and their lines.
- Convey the essence of the character.
- Hide yourself in the character.
- Create an involuntary emotional response from the audience and judges.
With all of that being stated we will now move on to the content of the Casting Call!
"Criminal Casting Call"Event 1There they stood, one stuck in the shadows of the other.
Role 1Working in debt collections for his esteemed father, (Role 1) does whatever they need to for their family and their name. Working in debt collection has made them akin to the brutal nature of the world. (Role 1) is a steadfast and stoic character that doesn't say much aloud. However, they can be found in deep dialogue with themselves about their situation. Whether it is small decor or the difference between life and death (Role 1) is likely thinking about it. As a result (Role 1) is very calculated and deliberate with their thoughts when they decide to share them. This is also exemplified in the way they deliver their lines. Not a syllable is out of place.
Give this role a shot and see what others have to say about your performance!
Role 2Despite managing accounts and staying above the books, Role 2 has an interest in (Role 1)'s work. Being behind a desk all day balancing ledgers for their father's partners is not stimulating them enough. While perhaps inexperienced, (Role 2) is full of a fiery passion to get away from the law, and into the family business. However, her passion is seen as an obstacle by (Role 1) as it is (Role 1)'s goal to keep (Role 2) safe. This leads to a lot of resentment from (Role 2) towards (Role 1). As a result, while (Role 2) may be a softer and refined speaker with their peers, a far more unrefined and vulgar speak comes out when addressing (Role 1). This may result in more slang and offensive language despite their education and level of normal day to day sophistication.
Give this role a shot and see what others have to say about your performance!
Prizes!Unfortunately, we are currently unable to give away prizes, as we have in the past with these events. We would like to build up a supportive community and create the proper infrastructure to give out gifts and other awards to individuals. Gifts and awards cost money, but we were able to do that at one point in time and would like to return to that status with our new rebrand!
SubmissionsAVAT requires that you send at least one recording of each line however, we recommend doing 3 reads of each line! We will only take a maximum of 3 reads per line!
You may also send you submission in via email to [redacted] if you do not wish to create an account to submit here.

Working in debt collections for his esteemed father, (Role 1) does whatever they need to for their family and their name. Working in debt collections has made them akin to the brutal nature of the world. (Role 1) is a chaotic but smart character with some psychopathic tendencies. They are capable of delivering a very rude and antagonizing line while smiling the entire way. They can be found in deep dialogue with themselves about their situation. Whether it is small decor or the difference between life and death (Role 1) is likely thinking about it. As a result (Role 1) is very calculated and deliberate with their thoughts when they decide to share them, even if the thoughts themselves are a bit exaggerated. This is also exemplified in the way they deliver their lines. Not a syllable is out of place. However they can be a bit sporadic.
Line 1: "She’s a kind-hearted person, but that just has no place in my world." (as-a-matter-of-fact, then cuts to a cold second half)
Line 2: "I know you mean well, and I know you want to be a part of this business. But I am not going to allow that." (Acknowledging and affirming, with a lot of heart)
Line 3: "If there is one thing I know for certain, it's the black-and-white nature of our family's business. Either pay up when payment is due, or pay with your life, simple really." (Explaining while becoming more and more comical)
Despite managing accounts and staying above the books, (Role 2) has an interest in the excitement of (Role 1)'s work. Truly bored with the day to day details, (Role 2) is ready to jump at the first sight of danger and excitement.
Line 1: "I think there are better ways to run our organization in regards to the humanity we show people. Not everyone needs to die." (Strongly attempting to illustrate their point.)
Line 2: "Someone got there before you did..." (surprised at the start but trails off into a horrific realization.)
Line 3: "Don't you think I know that?... (breath)... All I'm saying is that we should weigh all of our options before going to the last resort." (aggravated, then collecting themselves and restating their point.)
