Daniel_Mitchell for Role 2
Despite managing accounts and staying above the books, (Role 2) has an interest in the excitement of (Role 1)'s work. Being behind a desk all day balancing ledgers for their father's partners is not stimulating them enough. While perhaps inexperienced, (Role 2) is full of a fiery passion to get away from the law, and into the family business. However, her passion is seen as an obstacle by (Role 1) as it is (Role 1)'s goal to keep (Role 2) safe. This leads to a lot of resentment from (Role 2) towards (Role 1). As a result, while (Role 2) may be a softer and refined speaker with their peers, a far more unrefined and vulgar speak comes out when addressing (Role 1). This may result in more slang and offensive language despite their education and level of normal day to day sophistication. Truly bored with the day to day details, (Role 2) is ready to jump at the first sight of danger and excitement.
Line 1: "I think there are better ways to run our organization in regards to the humanity we show people. Not everyone needs to die." (Strongly attempting to illustrate their point.)
Line 2: "Someone got there before you did..." (surprised at the start but trails off into a horrific realization.)
Line 3: "Don't you think I know that?... (breath)... All I'm saying is that we should weigh all of our options before going to the last resort." (aggravated, then collecting themselves and restating their point.)
Hey Daniel_Mitchell Thank you for your wonderful audition! To show our appreciation we'd love to give you some insight on our thoughts to hopefully help you in the future of your career! Firstly, we loved the energy and it was clear right of the bat what you were capable of bringing to the table! The judges really appreciated that! However, In the first line a more preferable read, would have had more dynamic range. You start at about an 7 and peak at an 8. Which to be fair most people have trouble getting there, but not you! However the next step once you get there is to show that you own that range. It would have been really nice to see you start at a 7, drop to like a 5 and then maybe peak at a 10 or even 11 (Yes we are aware these are arbitrary numbers, but hopefully it will help) The judges felt that it was just yelling, with little going on, but with a little control and playfulness, you were on track to really have an impressive performance that would've wowed most casting directors! You actually nailed this very concept in line 3 where you start at about a 8 and then drop it low to like a low 6 and work slowly to a high 6. Something to keep in mind. Of course different scripts will ask different things, but casting directors will be trying to figure out all of what you are capable of, showing them that you have great control over what you are doing will always be a plus! Thank you again for you wonderful audition! there is a lot that other people could take away from your audition and we hope they do! Thank you for your audition Daniel_Michell! We hope to see you in more of our events in the future!
