+Anima Ep.1
Project Overview
+Anima is an internationally published ten-volume manga series by Natsumi Mukai. The story focuses on four "+Anima" characters—humans who have metamorphic abilities, and are shunned by society as a result. The plot revolves around four +Anima children: Cooro, Husky, Senri, and Nana. Brought together by their +Anima powers, they search for others like themselves and a place to belong. This manga was one of my favorites as a kid, and now that I have the artistic and animation skills needed for such a project, I am attempting to create an episode based on the first chapter of the manga, “The Black Angel and the Silver Princess“ where Cooro and Husky meet for the first time!

Professor Fly Greena Aight is the head researcher at the Astarian National Reserch Facility where he studies +Anima. Unlike others, he does not look down upon those who have a +Anima, because he is extremely curious on why +Animas occur and finds the topic extremely interesting.
“If only I could fly through the sky like a bird… or swim through the water as freely as a fish…”
Why do humans wish for such things?
This shady salesman comes to the circus ringmaster in the middle of the night with something he thought the ringmaster would be interested in buying, a child with a fish +Anima that makes him look like a mermaid.
Ring master, sir. I’ve got something you might be interested in buying.
It’s something I found tangled in my nets, a very pretty fish.
The Ringmaster was in charge of the circus where Coorofirst met Husky. He manipulated the two into working for him, knowing their abilities would draw in a crowd. The Ringmaster is manipulative; he uses whatever means he can to control people. including withholding one of Husky's most prized possessions.
Ladies and gentlemen, here we have an amazing half-human, half-fish oddity!
What brought that on all of a sudden!? It’s because of him, isn’t it?! You're planning to leave with him because you’re both +anima, aren’t you!?

Girl: “Come one, Come all to the Circus! Come see the acrobatics and wild animal show!”
Man: “This way to the mermaid tank!”
Croud: Scary…! Oh no! Help! AAH! EEEE!! How Terrible! Mommy!
Cooro is a crow +Anima and is the leader of the main group of 4. Cooro is a skilled liar and rather mischievous at times, along with his carefree but curious attitute he finds himself involved in other people's problems. Despite this, he is very respectful of people's autonomy and respects their decisions no matter how much he disagrees. He is very gluttonous and will almost anything that isn't bitter, but his favorite food is apples. Unlike most other +Anima, Cooro is unashamed of and likes to show off his Anima. He will often to the surprise of strangers, sprout his wings and take flight, uncaring of any unwanted attention his actions may bring.
Hmm, So your name is Husky, huh!
Glad to meet ya! I’m Cooro! If you're gonna leave, then come with me!
I’ve been looking for other +anima, I bet it’ll be more fun with the two of us!
There’s more to the story! See, the messenger of death fell in love with the mermaid princess, so he decided they’d escape together!
Husky is a fish +Anima and is part of the main group of 4. He is a pretty boy depicted as having a serious attitude, which in contrast to his more carefree friends often comes across as grumpy and stubborn. This difference leads him to regularly become annoyed and start arguments with others.
