--------------------

Hello!

A Foretold Affair is an already finished and released Visual Novel. When it originally came out we didn't have time to add any voicing. We figure it's better late than never, so we intend on creating a VA patch for the game! The hope is to have it out before the end of the year.

AFA is a steampunk-fantasy adventure story with comedy, drama, and some very misguided attempts at romance. The MC is a seer capable of seeing the future on a journey to escape bounty hunters while trying to convince a stranger that one day the two of them will be married.

Partial Voicing is what we’re hiring for. The lines will consist of stock phrases/sounds and some full sentences from specific events.

Audition Deadline: October 14th

Payment: 20 cents per word

Word Estimate: 350 (Leads) 150 (Supporting) 75 (Minor)

Swearing: There are no voiced lines with curse words

Paid Through: Paypal

Age Requirement: 18 or older

Communication: Email or Discord

Line Format: WAV or MP3

Number of Open Roles: 1 (technically you can audition for the other four but, as mentioned above, those roles could be filled soon)

We expect audio to be recorded clearly with no background noise. If hired for the position lines can be recorded with or without live direction, depending on your availability.

Thank you for checking this out!

Latest Updates

  • All Roles Have Been Cast

Hello! Adding a new character partway through made the process harder to follow than it would have been otherwise, so we wanted to make an update to let everyone know that every role has been cast now. Thank you so much to everyone for taking the time to audition. There were many wonderful interpretations. Cast List- Kea: ✿ham https://www.youtube.com/user/SirHamnet Piper: Hannah Hellwig https://hannahhellwig.com/ January: Oakesy (Andrew Oakes) https://twitter.com/AndrewJOakes Trinette: Stephanie Tobin https://www.youtube.com/user/StephanieSwanQuill Felicity: Kimberly Ismael https://twitter.com/Kimberly_Ismael
  • New Role Available, Payment Increase

We've added a fifth role! This character was a special backer reward for one supporter in the Kickstarter that funded A Foretold Affair. To make sure we didn't do something unwanted with the character, they were left out of the audition process. But the backer has since given us permission to find a voice and that's why we're reopening this casting call. And we've went ahead and increased the payment from 10 cents per word to 20 cents per word because we intend for that to be a new baseline payment for all our future casting calls. For those wondering about the original four roles, we've listened to every take and have been deliberating. There's quite a lot of variety in how the characters were portrayed and it's been difficult to choose between everyone. We intend to get in touch with VAs to offer them roles within the next few days. The deadline for the new character, Felicity, is October 14th. Thank you!
  • Going Through Auditions Starting Now

The deadline to submit an audition for A Foretold Affair has passed. Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to send their take in! We’ll be going over all the auditions and coming to a conclusion on the cast within a week or so. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to get in touch!

*NEW*

Felicity is gender fluid. He is biologically male and often identifies as such, but he’s also very comfortable going by a female-seeming name like Felicity, wearing what’s considered traditionally effeminate clothing, and using female pronouns. VAs of any gender identity are welcome to audition for Felicity.

Felicity only appears late in the game and is a secondary antagonist. She is in an unstable alliance of convenience with Trinette.

Her tone is youthful and strives to be gender neutral rather than notably masculine or feminine. She speaks in a casual, down-to-earth, almost immature kind of way. Despite how lighthearted it is, there tends to be an edge of smugness behind it.

  • “Haah, that isn’t exactly what I had in mind, but I’ll take it.”

[Casual, seemingly friendly, a bit mocking. The sound in front is a soft, possibly phony laugh. Felicity was trying to force personal information out of someone, but only got a silly anecdote]

  • “Are we doing this again or not?”

[Blunt, a bit impatient, cold to the dark situation at hand. They’re beating someone and the villain group isn’t sure if they’ll continue or if the victim has been ruffed up enough]

  • “Wow, nice view.”

[Genuinely impressed, pleased, there’s cruelty behind it. The main characters have been taken to a cliff side and the implication is that they’ve been dragged there for bad reasons]

cast offsite

Kea is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns. VAs of any gender identity are welcome to audition!

Kea is a police officer temporarily working in the capital city of Mierre. They were transferred in specifically for an undercover job. Their short stature and kiddish voice makes them a perfect fit to infiltrate a gang that recruits teenagers in poorer areas of the city (hence the unusual getup). Personality-wise Kea is strict, a stickler for rules, expressive, sarcastic, easily exasperated, and tries their best to be a leader despite not having full confidence in themself.

Their voice should sound not fully matured and potentially a bit raspy. It can lean towards something more feminine, or masculine, or remain pretty neutral, depending on what the VA is most comfortable with.

  • “I’m pretty certain no one followed us. It should be fine.”

[Casual, a bit reassuring. The gang finished their first day of the journey and the others aren't sure if they're going to be safe.]

  • “This can’t be happening. It must be a trick, or some kind of sick joke.”

[Disbelieving, somewhat aghast and at a loss, talking more to themselves than anyone else. They just got some very day-ruining news.]

  • “Are you mad?! You could have been shot!”

[Shocked, frustrated, some worry and concern under all the harshness. The MC ran head first into a dangerous situation.]

Piper

Role assigned to: thejediexile

Piper is a cartographer and treasure hunter. She was in Mierre for a small vacation. When all the trouble came around she volunteered to be of assistance. Piper is practical, competent, and always seems to be in control of the situation. She also has a real skill in using her words to get others to behave how she wants them to, even they don’t realize what’s happening. Despite being amicable, she is distant with a lot of clear walls up to stop people from getting close.

Piper’s voice is generally medium. She sounds fully grown and has a clear, bright way of speaking.

  • “By the way, my name is Piper.”

[Casual, pretty pleasant, brushing past a more serious topic that used to be the focus of conversation. Piper is introducing herself to the MC under unusual circumstances.]

  • “Your future has a sense of humor.”

[A light and airy tone that sounds amused while also having trouble believing that’s actually true. The MC explained to Piper their goal and Piper knows it’s terrible timing to attempt something like that right now.]

  • “No time to talk now, come with me, quick!”

[Serious, rushed, starts low but the volume is raised a bit at the end. Piper was on the run and now she has to bring the MC along with her.]

Role assigned to: Oakesy

Duke January had been visiting Mierre to meet with its mayor at his request. January never got to know exactly what the meeting would have been for, because was attacked by bounty hunters not long after arriving in the city. January initially comes across as overly formal and skittish. However, once the journey begins the Duke’s behavior changes. He acts recklessly and indignant. He is also very attached to the MC despite knowing nothing about them. Everything he does is usually dismissed as the impossible to understand actions of an eccentric noble.

January’s voice is medium to low without sounding especially masculine. He tends to speak in a posh, well articulated way with unobscured emotions. If he’s nervous, or happy, or angry, or anything else, it will be absolutely obvious.

  • “Mm, yes, well I will do what I can, I suppose.”

[Nervous, awkward, disjointed, defensive, hesitant. The MC wants his help, but he doesn’t know the MC yet and is worried they might be a threat. His compulsion to be polite forces him to at least hear the MC out.]

  • “Of course. Splendid! I must say I am truly glad to have run into you.”

[Starts out being affirmative and chipper, then becomes relieved and grateful, slight pauses between the sentences. He’s on the run with danger chasing after him, but the MC is allowing January to remain in their company regardless.]

  • “From now on, I will no longer allow hesitation to hinder me.”

[Firm, serious, speaking more to himself than anyone else. January is making a small resolution to himself before the start of the journey. The others cannot understand, but it holds a lot of meaning to him.]

Trinette

Role assigned to: Stephanie Tobin

Trinette is the central antagonist of A Foretold Affair. She is the head of a bounty hunting group. The gang was in Mierre to capture Duke January. She treats her crew of criminals and the illicit jobs she takes as if they were any other business. If she didn’t claim the rewards, someone else would. It’s simply a part of life in her mind. Trinette and Piper have clashed multiple times in the past.

Her tone of voice is low or medium. She usually speaks with no emotion or with a quiet, but cocky, confidence. It’s rare for her to talk in a truly casual or personable way.

  • “You must be new here.”

[Mostly flat/blunt with a slight critical edge. The MC hasn’t heard of an important person that Trinette is looking for. She doesn’t know how else to respond to something like that.]

  • “Now, excuse us. We haven’t the time for this. Bigger fish to fry.”

[A soft, but clear confidence, slightly dismissive. She was threatening someone, but has decided there are better ways she could be spending her time]

  • “Foo, what a pity.”

[Casual, a bit of a childish pout to the tone. Before it became clear that MC and Trinette had opposing goals, the two were able to chat somewhat openly. When the MC couldn’t give her answers, she was more honest with thinking it’s too bad.]
